The weather is conducive to reading some good books, so I recently went a little bit of binge and read both of his Bretonnia novels – Knight Errant and Knight of the Realm – as well as Empire in Chaos.

Pretty good, especially for novels based on games, and good inspiration to paint up some more troops.

He does ‘borrow’ quite often from the Peter Jackson LotR  movies, there are entire passages that are practically lifted directly from the films, but he’s definitely one of the best Black Library writers I’ve come across.

Speaking of such books, I am, once again, glad to have bouyght what I did when I did, because a quick look at Thriftbooks reveals that, for example, the Horus Heresy  novel Flight of the Eisenstein (another good read) now sells for over US$ 200 – !!!!!!

It’s not a limited first edition, leather bound, gold embossed rarity from the 1920s, it’s just a mass market paperback ! Who pays that kind of money for a paperback ? The most I’ve ever spent on 1 single book was around $ 180, and that was for a HUGE hardcover textbook I needed for work.

If you don’t mind e-books sometimes Humble Bundle will have a Black Library books deal
