Congratulations to Ian Livingstone who I see has been knighted in the New Years Honours list. The BBC says it’s for services to online gaming, but I’d like to think that his early work for GW and the Fighting Fantasy series were what swung it!

Who else in the gaming industry do you think deserves an honour (doesn’t have to be a knighthood)? Rick Priestley perhaps? The Perry twins?

    Services to gaming?

Seems weird to me. Like awarding an actor for playing dress up.

Honours should for heroism, or a significant contribution to society.

Given how much tax revenue the arts and gaming bring in it seems valid to throw them a few gongs.

@pagan8th It’s not like the king/queen actually check these folks and decide if they are worthy. You fill in a form and pay their underlings to get the ‘award’. At least that’s how they do it over here in tulip&cheese contry.
If things like ‘honour’ and ‘contributed to society’ really mattered 90% of those awards would never have been given.

In this country we have a different system… you give Boris Johnson money and he gives you a title… or contract to make covid test kits… or both…

Very well deserved. Yep GW & Fighting Fantasy and Laura Croft I think as well.

His FF books got me reading when I was about 8 when nothing else was engaging me. So delighted to see him being recognised in the honours list.
