More shiny Mechs come to the Battletech universe! 8)
Hot on the heels of the wildly successful launch of two new boxed sets, the BattleTech tabletop game comes to Kickstarter for the first time ever to unleash totally remodeled Clan and Inner Sphere ’Mechs on your gaming table. Utilizing the same process that modernized the nine BattleMechs found in those bestselling box sets, each ’Mech has been painstakingly re-imagined, holding to the spirit of their original design while embracing a modern aesthetic.

Now, who is taking bets on how long it takes for Harmony Gold to swing their banhammer down on Catalyst having the temerity to try and give fans what they want with updates of the Unseen Mechs?
June 14, 2019 at 7:26 am #1404394As far as I remember Catalyst, Harebrained Schemes (Battletech Videogame) and Piranah Games (Mechwarrior Online) had a court ruling regarding rights on videos games and miniatures with Harmony Gold. That’s why Catalyst took so long to release the new version. I doubt they would try something that isn’t waterproof 😉
June 14, 2019 at 7:45 am #1404401Yeah, I remember that as well, but you always have to take into account HG’s propensity for being complete douche-nozzles even when it has previously been ruled against them.
And is it wrong that as much as I’m going to go in on this for those sweet, sweet mechs, part of me hopes it does well enough to get HG to try something similar for the post-Dark Age/Age of Destruction setting? I know it’s border-line heresy but outside of the Mechwarrior videogames the Dark Age novels are what got me into the lore of Battletech and I want to see where the story goes next (mainly after finishing Forever Faithful I want to see how the Clans & Inner Sphere react to the inevitable revelation of who the Fidellis really are 😀 )

Yes but in the past they only had out of court agreements which where not legally binding. Now there is a ruling!
And there is no heresy in loving big stompy mechs! (Chaos Titans in 30/40k being the obvious exception here) The bigger, the more badass, the better! If Catalyst would release those mechs as model kits standing 30cm tall I would buy those.
June 14, 2019 at 8:14 am #1404417These look awesome. I was concerned that after the amazing new starters we’d see a drop off in new releases and things would stall, so this is great to see coming next.

June 14, 2019 at 9:32 am #1404484Weirdly I was talking with Bob and some of the bootcampers on Friday that they could do with updating the old FASA metals. Seems like they were listening…where is Warren’s tinfoil hat?
June 14, 2019 at 9:41 am #1404485No need for tinfoil… because they have looked into their crystal ball. They knew for some time, that’s why it’s ready now. 😉
If I had any way to get to you lads over there I would call for a Battletech Bootcamp. “Death from abroad”
June 14, 2019 at 10:06 am #1404498Won’t deny, I would second @sundancer ‘s suggestion in a heartbeat
June 14, 2019 at 10:16 am #1404503June 14, 2019 at 11:22 am #1404542@torros not just Clanner filth – they have two Inner Sphere specific lance boxes they are looking to fund, which are going to be returning the Warhammer, Archer, Marauder and Phoenix Hawk to tabletops, and I can easily see additional lance sets getting funded as stretch goals to update more classic chassis.
