@phaidknott : I did download the free version, but I haven’t had the time to read anything.
I do like that there is a ‘demo’ version of the rules, which is always a plus in my book.//
Kickstarter : World at War – Storming the gap ’85
intro rules available here :

A few more pics from Force-on-Force material re: The Chechen War (technically, 1st one).
I believe the Second Chechen War saw a bit of a downgrade in some Russian Federation armored units, the T-64/80 plants were mostly in the Ukraine (Khar’kov) so by the 2000s they didn’t have as many. They had to revert to the T-72, expand / advance it to the T-90, which I don’t know if any saw action in 2000s Chechnya. (??)

So we’ve been playing around with the idea of pushing Barry Doyle’s Valor & Victorysystem further into the modern era. We’ve already done WW2 into Vietnam (late 1960s), I thought an interesting next step might be early 80s with Operation Peace for Galilee – the 1982 Israeli invasion of Lebanon.
Just starting out here. This was one night. Other factions will include Syrian Army, various irregulars (Palestinian Liberation Army / Arab Liberation Army / Hezbollah), Phalange Christian militants, maybe even French and US Marine peacekeepers if this gets pushed into 1983 and beyond.
Might see these in action as early as this weekend, if all goes well.
February 27, 2019 at 9:27 am #1354618I hope after looking at the news this morning with Pakistan shooting down two Indian jets that my idea for a massive conflict starting with a war between India and Pakistan doesn’t come true

US turn 1 complete. Two Cheiftans and two Scorpions burning. But British return fire is coming up…

Brutal turn! Brits boil up 3 Abrams while the US return fire only takes out one Cheiftan and two Scorpions. Brits still have most of their missile teams left as well! ?

The British left flank collapses under pin point accurate fire and the weight of charging Abrams!
February 27, 2019 at 8:53 pm #1354946@davebpg nice work dude keep the AAR coming
February 27, 2019 at 9:20 pm #1354957US victory on turn 7!
the Abrams that charged the flank opened up on the rear of the Cheiftans and destroyed all of them in an incredible display of firepower.
The remaining US forces move in convoy through the burning wrecks of British APC’s and Strikers.
With a break out achieved, the US forces capitalise on their gains and prepare for the next engagement.
February 27, 2019 at 11:22 pm #1354980Well, Hi! I’m here because of @limburger, who pointed me in your direction, but mainly because I’m interested in modern(ish) battalion scaled violence 🙂 and hadn’t noticed the thread before now
I’m making up some forces for Team Yankee/Cold War Commander/FFOT3 in that oh so awesome scale that is 6mm but do enjoy the hex and counter tactical systems where units are platoons. Also, now that Brexit has me all scared that I won’t be able to buy stuff from the UK (I’m in Portugal), I decided to make an effort to buy more stuff over this coming month and then slowly paint it up!
