So the folks over at Spiral Arms Studios, the people  responsible  for Malstroms Edge and the Stacka Rack, have a new UK based Kickstarter  going for 28mm hard plastic siege engines  called Ancient Realms:

“Throughout the ages, warlords, raiders and conquerors have sought bigger and better ways to wage war. As defenses grow and improve, more destructive weapons are required to bring them down again.”

The kick Starter’s initial goal objective  are two plastic kits: a ballista for those wanting to fling giant crossbows bolts into the sky.

And the dreaded mangonel that is favorite  of  cinema:

In addition they have two unlock able stretch goals planned a battering ram and a trebuchet:

They are made to work with more “Historical/True scale” 28mm sleek proportion miniatures which if you are like me and prefer to build your fantasy armies with historical and less chunky minis is a plus.

However as you can see they will work fine with chunkier miniatures like these Frostgrave undead cultists.

I can see both of these working for  many fantasy and historical battles from the epic siege of Helm’s Deep to the very real  sieges in the Reconquista.

Yes they are hard plastic and since its a UK project hopefully this thread won’t fill up with VAT complaints.(that was a joke).
