Warren & Dave have a mighty battle to fight for Flames of War. They are going to be rolling out the tournament armies they used to see who will emerge victorious!

Sweet.
50 mins of Warren, Flames of War and the legend that is Dave @lafayette.
dave is back ;]
you forgot your stormtrooper move ah you rememberer 🙂
AWESOME! its like the last scene of Rocky 3 when Rocky and Apollo square off as friends and equals.
*DING DING*
Really good… but isn’t Warren looking a little scruffy?
Hooray! They’re back! I’ll probably never play this game, but I love the Warren and Dave double act.
Trust me part two all heck breaks lose and gets VERY interesting… damn I forgotten how bad my plane rolls where lol
So okay what do you guys thing American or Guards uniform what has more style???
I think the British one looks nicer but the American one is nicer to wear
Great show guys,
Great to see FOW back, can’t wait for part 2. Not long I hope.
The guards uniform for me Dave. More reallistic to the time period I feel.
Time period they are the same just the one I’m wearing is a dress uniform for the Americans.
But yes I think the Guards should be the one I wear too. I hope people enjoy this intro and come back for episode 2
Certainly did enjoy it and looking forward to episode 2.
What a nice surprise. I thought FoWFTW was over but you pull out this gem, exactly what I had asked for.
It’s good to see Dave again.
You and Dave “getting it” on…scary.
It’s great to get the opportunity to see your tourney armies and watch them against each other.
I pulled my tiffies out of my guards army last week, picked up a couple of Staghounds.
Looking fro part 2.
so is Dave @lafayette going to regenerate into Peter Capaldi for the next series of FOW FTW? hehehe be great fun to have him introduce the next series dressed as a Russian commissar or something ‘what?! WTF FOW FTW? where’s Dave gone?!’
How timely was that. I’ve been thinking about having another go at FoW and you bring out this useful aid to remind me of the rules. Thanks
Great to see FoWFtW back!! I’ve got the starter box coming for xmas so now I get to enjoy the show on two levels: Witty banter & fun games AND tactics & gameplay. I can’t wait. Once again BoW gets me into another game system (at least someone else bought this one for me!).
Watching this I can hardly wait for Christmas! Do you make your own outfits Dave or do you go somewhere special to get them?
All my outfits are 100% ww2 genuine, some i find at shows; some I ebay it takes time but everything you see me wear was made in WW2 and more often then not worn in battle too ( though I cant be certain on that on all my things).
Its a labour of love I hope you guys like to see.
Now you have made me wonder if my Grandfather still has any of his old uniforms i am going to have to ask him. He served in the Pacific in the US Navy during WW2.
Wow, I didn’t realise they were genuine articles. I thought they were replica’s.
Nice job Dave.
Take that cap I’m wearing in that video it was an NCOs from Wisconsin I know that as it has his barracks and name written in it. It is the rarest thing in my collection as it still has the chin strap attached.
It is not only time consuming it’s also a very expensive “hobby” the gold badge I’m wearing in that video is a 1942 medical corp badge very rare as it’s rounded like a button not flat like the disks you normally find. For the two I found I don’t think I got change from a £50 they where mint though.
You also don’t mind wearing dead men’s clothes that often puts people off.
But damn does it look good (also you do get more open to you the thinner you are so I’m lucky in that re guard)
That’s brilliant that they are all authentic pieces of kit. I imagine it gives them more value to you knowing that there is a story behind each piece. I found my Grandpa’s old RAF Service and Release Book the other day. That was fascinating to go through. I hope you keep wearing the uniforms in the next series of FOW.
Dave were do u get does uniforms? I’m interested in buying a German uniform!
Really nice FOW game, never being in a tournament so it helps people like me to understand some rules and tricks in a tournamnet
Thanks u guys ROCK!
glad you’re back, only need time to view now 🙂
Cunning cliff-hanger at the end, Warren needing 5’s to bombard the crepe out of the Irish Guards. King Tiger – 70 tons of panzer. That tends to hold everyone’s attention. There are a few still in working condition.
Listen to the noise! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kv3XZjSiaa8
Good video glad to see FoW:FTW back, looking forward to part 2 (The Firefly revenge may be) and the next season (hopefully soon ?).
Personally I do prefer the British battle dress, but like you said to get the uniforms is not cheap nowaday’s. Well done for going into all that effort.
When can we look forward to part 2 being posted guys?
You guys just made my first advent. I kinda was expecting to look down a long waiting period for FoW FTW and now this comes along. I just can’t express how much i appreciate this show.
At exactly 45:00 minutes, when Dave @lafayette ducks behind the table, he almost looks like Private Joker from Full Metal Jacket. I know wrong uniform and time era, but it just reminded me alot.
Two little rule corrections:
1. Infantry in the open that didn’t move counts as concealed. So on the cliffhanger roll Warren actually would need a 6 to range his artillery in.
2. The template of an airplane is aligned with the table edges (that you did correct). The template of an artillery battery is aligned with an edge facing to the center of the firing battery. So with this slightly (sometimes up to 45°) turned template you can sometimes get more teams under the template.
The second point I had to learn the hard way on my first FoW tournament 2 weeks ago.
Can’t wait for part 2 and best greetings to you guys.
P.S. I’m actually a fan of russian guard uniforms of WW2. They have so large caps 😀
Point three, tracked tanks don’t actually move any faster on roads even if they spend all their movement on it…
I don’t think that comes out well in the videos. I cant wait for part two either I want to see how it looks on tape heehee
A work colleague has persuade me to try this game, the video has certainly tided me over whilst I wait for my open fire box to arrive and a couple of the books. Keep up the good work guys.
Great to see you two back. Love the vid. Can’t wait for part 2.
For anyone wanting to start out buying uniforms it depends of they don’t mind replicas, if so there are many websites out there that make great ones that even use the same wool etc as original (If i can I will post sites but google it there are easy to find)
ebay is prob the best way to get the genuine article but like I said above be prepared to pay for that
Sweet, love the fow video’s! Building an army myself, and learning a lot!
Can’t wait for part 2.
Finally got around to watching this, great video, great uniform! Will be very interesting to see what forces you would bring to the table with all the lessons from the tourney learned (especially as I’m doing a Guards list…
You guys should definitely get some CCCP love into FOWFTW with the new desperate measures book out, I’m surprised @warzan hasn’t been tempted by a horde of T-34’s or IS2’s backed up by a ton of Katyusha rocket launchers, we all know from ‘nam week how he likes huge templates…
Can’t wait for part 2!
Crackin’ show, looking forward to part two.
Oh and @lafayette …definitely British.
Love the video can’t wait for the second one.
I do enjoy seeing these, even though I don’t currently play FoW (still waiting for FoW: Desert Storm!). But where’s the solider cam? It’s hard watching a miniature board game from 30 feet back. You know, I think someone needs to buy Dave a prescription pair of Google Glasses so he can record these games from his prospective.
@lafayette Any ideas of when part 2 is coming out??
Alas I do not, but I for one cant wait 😀
I was pretty disappointed with this video to be honest, taking an army to a tournament does not maketh a tournament army.
Warren, you have some counter-productive choices for your list, it is a tank list so most of the time will be attacking, the 88s aren’t going to do anything for you as they are immobile gun teams, dump them and replace them with some reconnaissance, the StuG battery list can take a Sturm Scout platoon on motorcylces, not the most effective recce unit, but better than nothing, this will let you remove gone to ground off the veteran infantry before you brass them up with main guns to dig them out of their foxholes.
Also, the 105s are an expensive choices considering you have some AT11 StuGs and a King Tiger, for pinning or smoke a battery of 3 Nebelwerfers will do the job just as well.
If you can squeeze these points into more StuGs, all the better, they are tank lists, after all.
I think it would have been very possible to put Dave on the back foot on turn 3, aside from the unreliable typhoon, he starts with nothing that really threatens the German armour, nothing can hurt the KT from the front at all and the Sextons are either direct firing AT9 or bombarding with a 5+ firepower, you might have a tank bailed on the way in, but they will easily remount with protected ammo.
Drive everything forward, push through the terrain ASAP, shoot the sextons as soon as they open fire, and drive everything onto that objective, the infantry will more than likely not being able to assault your tanks and assuming british reserves arrive in the right place you will easily return fire with better ROF and destroy them as they enter the board.
That was the helpful advice 😉
The quality of rules knowledge was pretty shocking and making statements then correcting them later on got tiresome after a while, it looks like the video was recorded in one long take and It would have been better to take more breaks and make sure that a. your rules knowledge was correct and b. you were selecting targets you could actually hit due to range / gone to ground etc,
Sorry to hear you dislike the episode, but neither of us ever said these lists where good, in fact on many many occasions we have said how we would actually change them, and what you have said we have already addressed and stated before.
Dave, don’t let those statements get to you. There will always be critics. I always enjoy the videos of you two. They are what got me interested in Beasts of War website in the first place when I was researching Flames of War. You both make it look so fun and I think playing and correcting rules as you go makes it more human and I think a better learning experience. Good job to you both and thank you
just got to say Warren need to dress up to .
and plzz keep up the good work 🙂 love the show 🙂
Dave, FOW video part 1 is great. Please continue to explain the rules as you go along.
Helps us noobies pick up the game quicker. I love your uniforms. How many do you own?
Looking forward to part 2, and keep up the good work. Cheers to you and Warren from the States.
CERMERRRN!! It’s been almost two weeks, we have to know what that artillery does! 😛
Part 2?
When will part two be available?
Hey guys, just catching up on some posts, I became a member long after this was over but it was watching these FOW FTW videos that got me into FoW so I wanted to say how much these educated and inspired me to play this awesome game. I really liked these three videos because Dave (@lafayette) finally took the training wheels off and played Warren for real, lol. And I love the outfits Dave!
