Warren and the guys get to the heart of the Tour of Duty Vietnam supplement now as they look at some of the sneaky tricks the PAVN can play on your troops. But it's not all one sided! The Americans have some tricks of their own.

It sure as hell is a template and a half. Just a quick correction for Alex on the ranging in bit. As these gunships let loose with rockets the ranging in rule fromt he main rulebook comes in here. So basically throw three dice all at once and only one of them has to coe up with the coorect number to range in and you range in right there and then. Unleash hell. Thats why that loach is such an amazing attachement.

love all the helicopters will be able to play that apocolipse now game i always wanted.
I’ve said this before but it bears repeating. If Battlefront do a Vietnam equivalent of Open Fire, they’ll be absolutely flying off the shelves.

From what Warren has talked about, BoW is trying out different formats, lengths, content, etc to see what works best for both BoW and the community at large.

So far I have the humongous template, but it takes WWII gods of war battery to actually get to use it (or an arti based brit army).. I think actually will do Nam now….
I wonder if playing in a more Vietnam-like environment – i.e. a lot more trees and other kinds of cover and sightblockers – would change the balance again. But anyway, thanks for the effort of getting into this, BoW!
Man I love this template. We actually call it the “cake tin”. But even if both choppers get 19 bases each under the template, they probably kill a maximum of 10 bases together. I know that is a lot, but it still leaves alot of men on the ground to be dealt with.

Well as an russian player i can say this devastation template had its name for a reason, but pizza box of death sounds a lot better 🙂 but as i always said after so much looses, send the next wave 😉

I like the way everything’s explained without rolling out all the results, really gives a feel for the game without being bogged down in tiny rules.

Ah, that’s more like it. So the Americans drop down from the sky. And the vietnamese can pop up from the ground.
But then they bring on the Pizza Box of Death. :s Still have to see how this will go for the Vietnamese.

I had other games in mind to start but this just ticks all the right boxes for me. I cant waite to show it to friends once I get up abd running with it. Damn you BoW 🙂

You call that a template? Now THIS is a template!
This looks great. I do wonder about terrain though. Here you clearly have very nicely made tables but most clubs/people won’t. A few paddy field and huts (from the box set) won’t make a very good table alone. Clearly hills etc will help but it stricks me that what you really want is LOTS of jungle, which would be a nightmare to play in.
I’ll keep watching with interest. Thanks for all your Flames videos.
