Battle Foam Infinity Alpha & Beta Bags Review
August 10, 2012 by darrell
As it's Infinity Week 2012 we thought it would be good to take a look at some bags you can carry all your precious minis in.
So the guys in the studio grabbed the Infinity Alpha and Beta bags from Battle Foam to check out what you get.

I love my beta bag. The thing hides nicely in my car’s trunk when I’ve got other stuff to pack in there. Might have to upgrade to the Alpha now that my collection is growing.
Thats not my bag…
and it comes in black 🙂
Worth noting that the Beta bag takes PACK Mini trays and the Alpha bag takes PACK C4 / Malifaux trays if they are inserted vertically (as seen in the video). There is also a “Horizontal” version of the Alpha that as slightly smaller trays but they are stacked vertically so you don’t have to tip the bag on it’s back before opening it.
I have a Warmachine bag. Battlefoam makes the best bags on the market, but I prefer other foams that are out. Still, a great product.
I love the size of the beta…perfect for my new merovigian sectorial!
The larger bag is the perfect accessory for any Shasvastii asswang.
All jokes asside, Love battlefoam and will be looking into Beta bag.
Not totally convinced by the Beta bag. Alpha bag seems great but I would like to see them in person. At the moment I think I’ll stick with other (german) companies
garwjenk totaly with you on that one there bagsare well made and if they didnt cost me the price of an army to buy i would own a few. but i do prefer a softer foam
Look nice, but I’m not sure that they are worth the price tag. Might try a KR Multicase instead..
I love my Battlefoam bags and my custom foam! I’ve shipped/carried them across the USA multiple times with minimal breakage, usually just antenna and stuff. Personally I’d look into one of the Malifaux bags as I like the design better.
I’d love to get the limited mini but it’s not worth the price. I believe magnetic is the better way to go.
I have 2 Alpha and 1 Beta Bag.
I agree with the Beta summary it is great but a bit fiddly especially with Aleph and Combined figs.
The Alpha bag is great but if you are getting heavily into the game you are really looking at 1 Bag per faction (in the case of my combined), perhaps as an update to the bag they could release a drone tray as the current layout doesn’t really let you optimise tray usage if you are packing lots of drone such as Nomads or Pan Oceana. Besides this it is a fantastic bag.
I have never actually seen many battlefoam bags anywhere but the internet, everyone loves them, but I personally never seen one. Everyone uses GW cases for ease to get.
I have the beta bag but its not used for infinity because i find the foam to be to course and hard and the minies wasnt secure enough for my metal minis, if they were plastic or resin it would be fine.
I spend a lot of time painting them and dont want the paint to chip of and i didnt want to go out and by some very soft cloth/silc to put in the bag.
So i built my own transportation system out of the foam that are in the infinity boxes, it is less course and allot softer.
So now i use the bag to transport my speed painted Dystopian stuff instead. 🙂
This is how my stuff travels.

[IMG
Its secure with velcro on the lid so it stays shut. Models stay secure in the box with some soft cloth in the bottom and its free.
Damn, cant insert img code here 🙁
The perfect gaming bag is a Zuca Sport, seek and you will find. You do need to add your own inserts but it takes some beating, as it has wheels, can be sat on, stood on and has pockets too
I have them both and are solid good products, although I believe that they shine when custom foam is inserted.
This boxes can fit enything unles it is dragao … unconverted Dragao 😀
I still use my CrystalCaste Battle Hive since the ages of confrontation back in 2003, anyway if I ever go for something littler I would go for Feldherr, many lads at my club got’em and these are wonderful. Battle foam doesn’t look way better if not for the branding … just saying.
I just bought my Alpha bag! Thanks for the video!
the Battle Foam bags are always beatifull 😉
I want that Yaun Yaun model so bad 🙁
Stupid PanOceania antenna, you are my bain!
I have a beta bag on order from Wayland, I don’t really need anything the size of the alpha yet but I supect I’m going to miss all those pockets…
Beta is a little too little for horde armies like Ariadna and Haqqislam, you’ll need to put them into the tag-part, not a very good idea when you need it upside down:/ Big bag is nice thou,
I’ve used Battle Foam foam for almost 3 years now, and I’ve never had paint be scratched or damaged by the foam. I don’t understand where this “foam is too rough” nonsense comes from. I like its sturdiness so that metal models don’t push, bulge, or warp it as some other, softer foams do.
And I don’t take any chances with my paint jobs. They’ve made it to Games Days and GenCon many times and I’ve never had an incident. Foam scratching paint jobs? This Slayer Sword winner says that’s a CROCK.
I wouldn’t have much use for the Beta bag myself it looks too small and impractical. The alpha bag looks a good buy though
I bought the big bag just for the miniature, I feel a little bit ashamed about it…
How many armies could you fill one of those bags with. Hm.
Hmm. I’m looking at a couple of beta bags for my CA and YJ. Would there be size issues with Charontid/other EI models and Su-Jian?
Not too sure about the CA stuff, but I know you can fit both forms of the Su-Jian on the cells in the left side of the bottom tray, although the Combat form might be a tight fit.
I would have purchased an Alpha bag if it hadn’t come out about a week after I got a nice big generic miniature bag from Battlefoam. Talk about bad timing!
I wasn´t convinced of the foam when I saw the the bags at a convention last year. I have to agree right now I stick to my german product.
i’m actually a bit disappointed with that, battlefoam normally seems pretty cool, but the beta looks like a waste of space and the alpha doesn’t exactly wow me…
i think i’ll probably stick with Tabletop Tyrant bags from gifts for geeks or the KR cases,
their cheaper and do the job just as wel, if not better.
good stuff
Wasn’t really one to see myself using a bag for my miniatures, as I had been old skool using plastic storage boxes and foam bought from JoAnns. Thought I had a good system going with Sterilite plastic boxes and pluckfoam trays, but carrying a stack of them pretty much means my hands were full, or I’d have to manage with a little luggage cart. Had a smoky house fire, and while my minis stayed safe and clean, as the pluckfoam sealed the lid, I didnt relish having to clean the boxes and deodarize the foam. So getting the bag was a godsend. I just recently packed my Alpha bag with three TAGs, 2 Aragotos, my Human Sphere demo minis, All of my ISS minis, and the GenCon demo minis. Everything seems well secured for my weekly trips to the FLGS, and the shoulder strap lets me handle my box of terrain. And the forgot to mention the back pocket which is good for carrying army lists and rule addendums.
I am trying to figure out a reason to get the Beta bag but I just can’t. Infinity is a low model count game sure but that means I can have a fighting force of almost all factions in an ‘reasonable’ amount of money. So why not have it all in one place and not in a dozen little bags?
Well if you were going to an Tournament then maybe the Beta might work. But with no room for storage of gear and rulebooks…
Honest,…The Beta one is shit, why?
1: “hard” foam to protect the bottom part, it’s not gonna work (models chip and perhaps break).
2: need to turn around the top part for softer protecton, it’s not gonna work (models fall out and chip)
3: Eventualy i need more then just a strike force of 10 – 15 models. I want the whole army and perhaps an other one, so no room for that.
4: I need my books sooo,…again no room
The alpha is good. why, i can do all top 4 thing and more. It even has a limited model 🙂
I have the alpha bag and it is awesome. In the video they mentioned the Alpha’s pluck foam can not hold a TAG vertically I just wanted to chime in that some of them fit fine, I have a Squallo in mine standing upright I’ve had 0 minis break as a result of the bag (however I’ve accidently knocked off a few antanea pulling them out…namely on pano infantry and nomad remotes). So be careful when pulling out your minis… or be a man and play Ariadna!
I win? I win! I WIN!!!!
decent looking bags, only wish they didnt have the symbol on. I like a minimal look
The Alpha Bag has always been very tempting because of the miniature and how practical it is…
….NICE
Considering a PP bag for my Trollbloods, but even the mini, one layer case I have for my Combined Army is great! Worth the $$$!
I got a Beta bag for my small-ish Yu Jing/Imperial Service force and its been pretty good, with everything fitting in the bottom tray so far, although I haven’t touched the pluck foam part yet. I had no problems placing the MAS templates in-between the trays (circular + small teardrop), and on the top of both trays facing the lid (large teardrop).
Prize me please! Why does your video shift to the right (facing) about 3/4 inch
great reviw!!!
I have the alpha bag but it has all my Pan O military orders stuff my Necromunda crews and my Relics army 😀
looks good
Good stuff!
I’ve had m eyes on Battle Foam, drooling. These bags look great, and booth would be useful. i see a purchase coming up.
I have the alpha bag, and for the most part I’m happy. The foam does a great job of cushioning and protecting my models, and I haven’t noticed any wear from the models rubbing against the foam. I do matte varnish my models, however, so that should help too.
I do have one aggravating problem with the bag. When the two Infinity books are out in the front pocket, the bag is EXTREMELY off balance, and has a tendency to Flip over onto its top, flipping all of your models upside down and jostling them around. This doesn’t happen if, when setting the bag down, you always lay it down as if you were going to open it. But if you set it down upright, like the way you carry it, it tends to fall over if bumped even softly.
I’m not exactly sure what battle foam could do to help the problem, but with the third book on its way, there is no way I could fit all three books in the pocket anyways, so I guess I’ll have to figure out another way to carry my books with me. It’s a shame too, since the pocket works well, just not with heavy rule books.
Still, it’s a good bag, and I like it better than the other bags I’ve had.
I think the Beta Bag is very good for take the army and go play anywhere!
Alpha bag looks like the way to go then yeah? Good general size bag and a cool free mini. Excellent
The big bag is what I’d go for, but for convenience I’d rather carry the small one. When you play a 300pt game you don’t need your entire collection. I’d want a bag for 8-12 infantry, 2-6 Drones, 1-2 TAGs. Nothing more, maybe some space for templates, markers and dice. From what I’ve seen the small bag with the standard foam trays doesn’t meet these requirements. I’ve seen people buy some tool trays in a hardware store and just buy custom cut foam trays and separators…
Don’t have a Battlefoam bag yet, but I like what i saw. If you happen to live in Germany like me, you might want to look up Feldherr. They make really good customizable bags/backpacks. My armies for Wh40k/Freebooter’s Fate/Malifaux and Infinity all have their respective Feldherr bags, as does my camera. (Bonus: You sometimes get mistaken for a professional Photographer, happened to me twice already.)
Wonder if you could fit Sam into one of those
Has the 25% Corvus Belli offer finished already? 🙁
lovely bags…the little one is to like the large.
I was thinking of getting the beta back. But i think I’ll get a Kremlin multiple now
got alpha bag really nice
pluk foam works so well with my tags
I love my alpha bag.. I still have to get a beta bag for when I travel via plane and only want to take a single army.
1 free bag for me please…
With the Beta bag, it looks like the intent is to have the plucked foam inverted to allow use for the larger models and space for the various fragile bits.
I think in the alpha bag just one tapper foams is necesary… And I need to leave a question: How many miniatures do you think can keep the alpha bag in? I’d like to buy one, but i have other bags and I don’t that a new one is moneyworthy or not…
Does it only come in black?
i love my BF bags
I wonder if the beta bag would fit within the size of carry on luggage?
The alpha seems really convenient
I have an Alpha Bag and i LOVE IT. Holds everything and then some that i have atm and will still have space for my next army or 2!
I like the alpha bag quite a bit but Daryl’s challenge of opening the zipper worries me a bit. The way the bag flops open and the orientation of the foam would make me think things are going to get broken.
It’s funny you mention the fiddly bits for infinity. Have you ever tried to build the Malifaux figs? They make me want to pull out my whiskers.
Nice
Their Warmachine bags are great, this review has helped me cvonsider these more seriously. thanks guys!
IT`S MY BAG BABY!!!!!! Yeahhhhhhhhhh…….
Always wanted a battle foam bag their foam load outs are impressive
They look nice but right now i have not enough money 🙁
I”ve got the Alpha bag, and it does the job and then some, fit’s Yu Jing TAGs and remotes no problem at all.
Nice review, good to see the flaws as well as benefits covered.
I hope the yuan-yuan will be released later. Like a lot of people I’m not going to be 750 first orders of the alpha bag and it’s a pity if we have to play the usual yuan yuan as armoured ones if there’s a miniature availiable. Anyhow I think I’ll need a lot of time to put together and paint an army that needs an Alpha bag. In the meanwhile maybe I can share mine with my flatmates.
I was considering a beta bag, but after watching this I think I’ll save money for the alpha. Just wish I could put patches on it.
the alpha is great I have one and have no problem transporting two 50pt legion of everblight armies, i also had about 30 points worth of ret infantry in there too.
Mmmm.. exclusive mini…
They seem pretty nice, but I find they are a little bit overpriced.
Selenio.
These look like my FELDHERR bags. Very handy.
Well with the small bag you could cut out a wall on the bottom tray or have it stand up and flip the top tray upside down and cut out a hole. The small seems perfect size for a skirmish game force. The larger one makes sense if you’re bringing several forces or a very large army or maybe minis for several skirmish type games.
me want!
Alpha bag looks great, but the beta back looks like it wasn’t designed nearly as well…..
These bags look far nicer than my current old bag, but then I have been married to her for 12 years.
Doesnt look good to me. beta s a bit too small whith no storage and not the safest for the minis and the alpha is just too big for my purposes. I allready had doubts but now im convinced.
thanks guys!
I have the big Alfa bag …
it’s perfect ….
The only thing missing is a 6pack beer bag\foam container
^^
I have a beta bag, and its great for games in my local store. I m awaiting to increase the size of my Haqqislam to get an alpha bag.
