Campaign Mega Game - Introduction

We stop in with Jim, Mike and Igor to find out how the campaign mega game is going to work.

It's going to be pretty hectic but we're going to be following the action from one turn to the next and seeing how the achievements get unlocked too!

Campaigns are my favorite way to game historical miniatures.

That is a pretty cool setup with the big map and everything.

James’ comments were spot on. You have to keep campaigns simple and manageable. Most campaign efforts fail to reach conclusion before the interest from players wanes. When that does happen, you can just about guarantee its because the campaign organizer/coordinator did not stick to “simple and manageable.”

Thanks, @irontom – another thing that helps is to establish a well-defined ending point. Obviously, ours was Sunday afternoon. When players know the ending point, they are much more likely to stick it out to the finish. It’s when things “feel endless” that they start to quit.

Sounds like fun. I like the achievements idea. I might have to use that myself.

I like the idea of getting hit from adjoining tables – it adds another element of worry for the participants as they have to watch what is happening on their flanks – just like in a real battle.

I would love to see these campaigns written up for club use. Not just one scenario but a bit of choose your own adventure.

Great job Jim

Love how you finish with this massive game. This is what war gaming is meant to be. I love the idea of objectives for prizes which keeps everyone on their toes. Wonder how those prizes will effect over all strategy?
