Any tips for those without airbrush? It is a bit daunting with these slick and beautiful ships…
Dont worry too much about it. I’m not using airbrush either, and it works fine with a couple of thin layers, or if you’re going for a vivid colour, use some pigments, and some varnish to fix it. Works like a charm.
Several thin layers was something I really had to learn and challenge myself to be patient about.
Look forward to it
I’d love to see a Space Battleship Yamato colour scheme.
John – is that a large seam between the prow section and the hull? Does it need a little filler? Just thinking about being fully prepped before starting the painting process – I know some people are magnetising prow sections so they can use every option available from any given class of ship.
I painted my first miniature last night and was really happy with it……. until I started to add detail.
Really looking forward to the timelapse
I see the acrylic pin for the flight stand also got painted… a bit disappointing, hope you guys can do something about it!
its probably masked up to catch the over spray.
Also looking forward to the timelapse, but I’ll second the request for tips for those of us without an airbrush.
i’m curious i’m kinda tempted by airbrushing and drybrushing on these models
Yeah, I’d love me an airbrush, but that’d mean no new mini’s for a long time.
It is going to look awesome! can’t wait to see it finished/ the time laps
Still really need to have a go airbrushing properly, i’m curious as to whether people recommend using washes through an airbrush?
I’ve used washes through my airbrush in the past, it’s more to saturate a colour than add depth like you would with a traditional wash. It can be hard to get right so experiment a lot!
Looking forward to this progressing red / white always tough to get right
If you don’t have an airbrush – a silver primer with a wash over it works really well before you pick out the detail.
these ships are a great place to showcase johns skills, heavy armour is his specialty.
please show us your awesome black Japanese UCM fleet mate its a real beautiful paint job.
painting that massive fleet, all the clusters ,that monstrous space station, plus a ridicules amount of smaller stations in a week is some going mate. oh and you had to build it.
I would not be able to get near that standard given the volume of work and the time constraints.
I tip my hat to you sir
I’m always interested in a painting guide
Nice to see the process end to end.
im looking forward to seeing the process start to finish so i can compare with my own and mix bits if needed
will be great to watch it all come together in time lapse.
time to buy an airbrush…
I have concidered an airbrush in the past… maybe… just maybe….
This is gonna be interesting! Get out your tiny, tiny, tiny brush..
I actually liked the simplicity to be honest
Looking forward to seeing the scheme, to be honest i need as much help as possible.
Always happy to get tutorials no matter how much I think I might know.
That’s is 100% a Dead Pool comment…. /mind shattered
