The Hellfire Club have turned up to playtest their card game The Old Hellfire Club, a storytelling game where Victorian adventurers go in search of gin.

Is this a game you would like to try?

Clearly I’m already a member of the Old Hellfire Club, given how much time I, a derelict, spend searching for gin most weeks. Adding this to my upcoming KS list.

Please say that drinking is part of the game.

In line with Kickstarter rules I’m obliged to say drinking isn’t not part of the game πŸ˜‰

Yup – that’s pretty much EXACTLY right πŸ˜€

(Only with more communism, rubber ducks and explosive sea mammals!)

I kinda want to see BoW do a Let’s Play of this now where every time one of them scores a point they get to take a swig of actual gin; justto see the hilarity it devolves into as they get drunker and drunker. 😜

YES! YES, YES, YES, YES, YES!!

Okay – how can we get the overlords of BoW to see this post?! Answers on a postcard!

Unusually great idea for a storytelling game. Now, where is my bottle of Hendrick’s. I want to start playing right away.

Thanks! That’s one of the two reasons I designed The Old Hellfire Club – all the others I could find just didn’t have a theme that grabbed me…

But, drunken anarchy across the rooftops of Victorian London – now that’s something else!

That’s the right response! If you can find Silent Pool – distilled just up the road from me!

Sounds good, and I like that you can just play the cards too.

Thanks! And that’s the second reason I designed The Old Hellfire Club – so many poeple get excluded from storytelling games just because they don’t feel like acting out a story…

But, NOBODY gets excluded from The Old Hellfire Club! On a side note – we’ve made a massive effort to represent women and people of BAME origin in TOHFC. Plus making sure it’s affordable, accessible to people with disabilities – you name it we’ve tried to do it and we’d love more suggestions to do more πŸ™‚

So no longer fighting the XMen.just getting drunk? Probably a lot safer for them.

Excellent! By power of being the designer I grant you a bonus penny at the start of every game! May you use it unwisely!

Make sure to fault your new privilege at https://www.facebook.com/TheOldHellfireClub/ πŸ˜€

I love the look of that game – the art is lovely and I really like the idea of the game.

Thanks SO much for noticing the art! πŸ™‚ It’s been a total labour of love to source it all – finding the art alone took over three months of the development time! As it stands it’s pretty much ALL Victorian era original – these are incredibly expensive to license (most of them hang in major galleries), but we’ll get whatever we can afford and will make sure EVERYTHING else is totally in keeping with the theme. I’ve put in WAY too much effort for the graphic design to let us all down now!

Take a closer look at some of the cards at https://www.facebook.com/TheOldHellfireClub/ πŸ˜€

Fun way to learn old maners and verval attacks, gentlemens and myladys! haha.

Then the entire suit of Victorian insults is made for you! Learn them all and deploy them at will! Other suits include crimes, weapons, perils, servants, teatime and on and on! πŸ˜€
