Oh man the Pelican is freaking sweet. I’m debating getting into this game but have so many others. I will definitely be getting a Pelican even if I don’t play the game just to have something that awesome looking.

I’ve never played the computer games, but man does this look excellent!

I got my preorder of Friday. I was rather disappointed that none of it is hard plastic. The infantry are metal and the vehicles and scenery bits are resin. There are some nice little buildings made out of acrylic sheets as well. I could have sword Spartan said the starter set would be plastic. I recall originally they said they were hoping to be able to do it in plastic but were not sure. I thought they had confirmed it would indeed be plastic at or around the time of Salute.

They probably went metal for the infantry to cut down on costs. Probably cheaper sculpting size as well

Sculpting wise

I might have misunderstood you so apologies if this is pointless lol:
But I remember on a weekender they were showing off how their sculpts are all size-agnostic 3d models. So they sculpt it full res, then shrink it down and get it printed off for casts etc. That’s why the preorders get a huge marine or elite figure – they didn’t sculpt it special, it’s just the same 3d model but bigger.
Which is why I’m confused with the metal – they’re obviously cast and not printed… I’m so confused!
It’s all still very nice though, and still glad I bought it.

I was thinking the same thing! I was very disappointed to see that the figures were all metal – I hate working with metal because superglue takes forever to dry, things are bent out of shape (gun barrels, and have you got wonky warthog window/roof bits? I have) and they easily bend and chip 🙁

I didn’t look too carefully at the resin bits. I just glanced at the contents then put the whole box on a shelf. I don’t know if I’ll ever get around to it now.
