Warren Tests Out The Games Workshop Contrast Paints!

Warren got a chance to sit down and play with some of the new Contrast Paints that are going to be hitting the market soon from Games Workshop.

As Warren has a play around with the paints he talks about their pros and cons and exactly how he might use them as he gets stuck into lots more painting projects.

They are going to sell a lot of this paint. Looks impressive for the amount of effort.

Impressed by how good it looked as soon as it was put down; looking forward to trying them out when they get released. 🙂

Very interesting! I’m glad to @warzan at this table. Though I gotta say, I really did cringe when I saw how thick that paint was being slapped on ?
Great results so far, please show us the other minis turn out too!

I think my face my have paled watching as my wife asked if I was ok. I said ‘yes, but look how much paint he’s slapping on!’ was entertained to hear a matter of seconds later Warren say ‘some people will be mortified by how much paint I’m putting on’

It is good to see these paint in live action. I am curious to see the models when they are completely dry.

I really like the look of these. If you’re going to try zenith highlights, it doesn’t work the way you imagine. You could zenith from a mid/light grey up to white maybe, that might work well enough. These paints do not work over dark tones though, you need a bright base for them.

I already work a lot with shades and washes over white prime, these should be another neat tool in the tool box.

I don’t know if there the “end all be all”. But so far they look good . They seem to shade really well. Looking forward to the end result!

Looks good. I wonder whether it looks good if you put normal paint over the contrast-painted area, for instance to paint some details on. Those details won´t have the strong shading, right? Does thoe whole mini still look consistent?

I want to get my hands on some of those to compare to army painter washes with mixing medium.
Also have a difficult time getting yellow how I want it
