Venture Into Ambush Miniatures’ Ardennes ’44 WWII Collection
July 29, 2025 by brennon
Ambush Miniatures and Heer46 have released a new set of World War II miniatures for those looking to bulk out their German army on the tabletop. The set currently dives into the Ardennes during 1944 and the Battle of the Bulge.

Each of the miniatures in the range are designed to match your 28mm figures that you might already have in your collection. There are only five miniatures in the set so far but I'm sure more will be on the way. Starting out, you have a couple of Officers. One of them is armed with an StG 44 and the second is armed with an MP40.

What's quite nifty about all of the miniatures from this collection is that they are based on photography from the period. All of the miniatures are a match to photographs of the German soldiers from 1944 and this snapshot of the Ardennes.

This isn't just the case with the Officers, as you've also got the same theme running through the Grenadiers from the collection. You have one with a Rifle and another with a StG 44. Capping things off, we have another soldier lugging a machine gun around.

All of these miniatures are available separately but you can also get them as part of the Ardennes '44 Set, which brings all of these figures together.

This seems like a great set for a painter who just wants to work on a handful of figures from World War II. Equally, these could be slotted in very nicely alongside the rest of your 28mm World War II miniatures, popping up amongst squads or as part of a command element watching over the battlefield.
Are you going to be checking out this new set?
