Hit The Italian Front With New WW2 Battlegroup Supplement
August 15, 2025 by brennon
Plastic Soldier Publishing has announced the last of the current crop of Battlegroup supplements for your World War II-era wargames. You'll be able to head to the Italian Front soon with a new book on the horizon.
Battlegroup: Italy // Plastic Soldier Publishing
This is the final book for the original Battlegroup series that brings your battles to the Italian Front, covering the period of 1943 through to 1945. As with other supplements, it will come with plenty of information for battling during the period, plus "the best images yet", which is certainly something to look forward to.
This will then mark the end of the current edition of Battlegroup ahead of a new rulebook edition, which will be cleaned up and pull together all of the special rules and scenarios into a final edition. So a bit of a last hurrah on one front, whilst it also opens up the game for more at the same time.
Plastic Soldier Publishing has also mentioned that they are working on a second wave of Battlegroup books and new rules systems with Battlegroup Commander and Battlegroup Frontline. They are also talking about venturing into new periods of history. Intriguing.
Are you going to be snapping up this Italian supplement?

Likely will order this. Is Sicily included? Canadians fought both in Sicily and “up the boot”. Melfa River Crossing in Italy is a great study in recce in force and delaying action until stronger reinforcements can arrive.
Looking forwards to this one (probably going to be the best of the bunch). On the new edition of the main rules Piers and Warren have said it’s not so much a new edition but more of a reorganisation, fixing a few typos etc (the changes will probably be less than a half page). So you’ll probably not need to run out to buy a new set, and all the previous campaign books are going to work with the new edition (so no GW style “recycling” of the rules every three years and additional books being outdated even before they hit the retail shelves going on here with PSC) 🙂
