Fantasy Skirmishes! More Brigands Of Arja Teases From Firelock
November 17, 2025 by brennon
Firelock Games are closing in on the launch of their Kickstarter campaign for the Fantasy skirmish game, Brigands of Arja and in an effort to whet your appetite, they revealed some more sneak previews at the miniatures and more coming your way.
Brigands of Arja Set // Firelock Games
First up, we got a look at the box for the game that will be coming your way, featuring some lovely artwork. It perfectly captures the vibe of the game with a classic, sword-and-sorcery style. I think that is heightened by the "D&D Red Box", which is very reminiscent of old Fantasy gaming.
For those unaware, Brigands of Arja is a skirmish game for one to four players where you control a warband of between three and six miniatures. The idea is that Brigands of Arja can be played as one-off games but also as part of a multi-game campaign.

Each game takes around an hour to play and the team at Firelock has gone to the effort of making the post-game sequence super easy for you to get through so you can dive into more games. You should be able to play a full campaign over the course of an afternoon or an evening, with the person who has the highest infamy after three or more games being declared the winner.

As you can see, we have some miniature previews as well as more on the art and components. I think the miniatures are looking great with a distinctly Firelock feel to them and I am digging the Hyborian edge, which is quite fitting considering how much I like Conan.

If you are a fan of a certain musclebound barbarian, Firelock did preview that they are doing a special miniature for the Kickstarter...

I think this fellow needs a cloak. It's going to be very cold for him where he's going!
We also got to see more of the contents from the Brigands of Arja set, namely some really nice monster cards which feature more of that lovely, classic Fantasy-inspired artwork. Everything looks quick and easy to reference and it should be fun for those looking to scoop up miniatures from different ranges to make sure you can cover the menagerie!

You won't have long to wait until Brigands of Arja ends up on Kickstarter. Considering Firelock's pedigree in various wargames over the years, designing mechanically slick experiences that manage to get people into Historical wargaming, this could be the helpful nudge someone needs to play Fantasy and, more importantly, Fantasy campaigns.
Brigands of Arja - Rules // Firelock Games
Could Brigands of Arja work for you? Whilst Firelock will obviously supply their own miniatures for you to use, there's no reason you couldn't just scoop up the rules and use the miniatures you've already got in your collection. I can sense this being something I sink my teeth into when the time comes.
What do you think?

The Bonus Barbarian Figure looks odd. Weird way of the sword arm, legs too far apart. Looks more like a toy made miniature. The rest of the minis is ok.
Based on the posing of Arnie from the film so blame him!
Arnold looked way better!
You’re right. That sword should be in front of left arm, not behind.
Bloody Merkins using umlauts they don’t understand. Too many naked barbarians for my taste.
