New Themed Starter Sets Coming To Marvel: Crisis Protocol!
August 19, 2025 by brennon
Atomic Mass Games are now taking pre-orders for some new themed Starter Sets for their 40mm superhero skirmish game, Marvel: Crisis Protocol. You could dive in and get yourself a great set of miniatures to match the X-Men or the Spider-Foes!
X-Men Starter Set // Marvel: Crisis Protocol
We start with an X-Men Starter Set, which I think is going to be very popular, especially because it's been quite hard to get your hands on some of the miniatures from this set for a good few years. This set features miniatures from the X-Men and the Brotherhood of Mutants who can clash on the tabletop or put their differences aside to battle a more fearsome foe.

On the X-Men side of things, you'll be able to get your hands on some classic miniatures representing Cyclops, Wolverine, Storm, Beast, Rogue and Gambit. These miniatures are still brilliant and packed with character. I can already hear the theme tune playing in the back of my head as I'm typing this.
Going up against them, you will also get the Brotherhood of Mutants featuring Magneto, Toad, Mystique and Sabretooth.

More super cool miniatures and a nice way to focus on some of the main characters from the X-Men comics. You could then use this set to dive in with a friend as this also comes with all of your character cards, team tactics cards, tokens, measuring tools and dice. All of the rules for Marvel: Crisis Protocol are online, so build away and have some fun.

If you'd like to see these miniatures "in the flesh", you can check out some videos below, plus a Let's Play where we played with these miniatures!

This also works as a good jumping-off point to get more miniatures for the Uncanny X-Men or Brotherhood of Mutants, building on that affiliation and getting yourself more well-loved characters. I think I will be buying this set.
Spider-Foes!
If you'd prefer to dive into the Spider-verse, then you can also get a big Starter Set that comes packed with Spider-Foes!
Spider-Foes Starter Set // Marvel: Crisis Protocol
This set comes with all of the characters that are intent on hunting down and dealing with dastardly Spider-Man and his friends. Whilst the X-Men set is perfect for someone wanting to get stuck in alongside a friend, the Spider-Foes set would be perfect for a single player starting who wants lots of options to choose from.
Spider-Foes // Marvel: Crisis Protocol
Inside this set, you'll get miniatures for Green Goblin, Kraven the Hunter, the Lizard, Mysterio, Shocker, Sandman, Carnage, Rhino, Vulture and Electro. A great mix of older and newer miniatures from the Atomic Mass Games line-up that still stand up. I'm a big fan of the Mysterio miniature and the one for Rhino.
Spider-Foes // Marvel: Crisis Protocol
Much like with the X-Men set, this also comes with all of the character cards, team tactic cards, tokens, measuring tools and dice. A solid option for those wanting to get started with the Spider-Foes. Smash this up alongside the Web Warriors and you could have every miniature you'd like for playing out the stories of Spider-Man on the tabletop.

I hope that we're going to be getting a bunch more Starter Sets in this style, which give you thematic entry points into Marvel: Crisis Protocol. I know there are a lot of gamers like me who aren't that interested in doing What If? mix-and-match teams where you take from everywhere in the Marvel universe. They just want to get the cool characters that you like from the comics and fight out the match-ups that they loved from their youth. These sets offer that.
Marvel: Crisis Protocol Terrain
Capping things off, we also have the NYC City Block Terrain Collection, which is a big terrain set that can be used to add some verticality to your tabletops.

The set comes with two small shops, a pair of apartment blocks/stores, a couple of vehicles and a bit of scatter terrain. This gives you a few more things to throw at your opponent on the streets of New York, plus something for Hulk to smash.
I would love to see more of these themed starter sets coming out for Marvel: Crisis Protocol. We have plenty of Affiliation Packs out there but getting the components for gameplay included is a great bonus. It would be neat to see one for the Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, Wakanda and beyond!
What do you think of these new Starter Sets?

The X-men one looks pretty good. Spider no interest to me because his villains are lame. They’re so camp they would have failed an audition to be in the 60’s Batman series (and yes… I know… wrong universe).
OTT brought this news up a couple of months ago when it was first announce, and my opinion is still the same – it is a great idea and initiative that should have been given to us from the start. I will gladly buy the X-Men one if the price is reasonable. I hope it is!
Around about $100 so probably £70/80
@brennon that’s actually pretty decent. I guess I’m playing MCP now. Thanks for the info.
These look cool and the price is nice (except the terrain set). Hopefully they can keep it in stock for a while; will definitely consider picking it up as a painting project.
Finally some themed sets that make sense! I like all of these, actually. Just what I need to get into the Marvel universe, true believers!!!
I already own all these models. AMG has a tendency to make you buy duplicates and as far as I can see, none of these boxes will force you to do so. These are all full sets, so you won’t have to buy any other set containing models you already own to get a character you don’t.
So that’s an exellent move. I wish they’d done that sooner, but glad for new players to get some better deals.
Carnage & Mysterio has been out of stock for over 2 years in Europe. Now you can finally buy it…in a box of 10, with 4 miniatures you don’t really want (lets not even mention need) and 4 more you already have. All for the price of a liver.
