10mm Dwarven Host // Wargames Atlantic
Here's some of the cool fluff and background lore that Wargames Atlantic has come up with for the Dwarven Host...
"The Dwarves are a people of the stone. For thousands of years, they have made their homes in mountain fastnesses and deep caverns - but these are no mean, rough-hewn spaces. For more than anything, the dwarves are people who make. More than anyone in the World they are masters of mechanisms and art and craftsmanship beyond any of the other races, whether in stone or wood or cloth or metal. Their Dwarvenholds are temples of wonder for those lucky few who are invited inside.
But their vast wealth has a dark facet: there are many who covet what the Dwarves own and are willing to fight to take it. Their greatest enemies are the goblin tribes who also make their homes in the dark places of the earth. Armies of orcs, ogres, or a necromancer’s undead host sometimes try their luck against Dwarven cities in the hopes of great wealth. The one threat the Dwarves fear the most is of dragons. Though they are few in number in this age, they can bring ruin and desolation all by themselves. Rumours of dragonkind are never dismissed lightly."
Very cool. Classically Dwarven with a Tolkienesque twist. I already want to see a full Dwarven Host taking on a massive horde of Orcs or one of those Dragons previewed by Wargames Atlantic a few months ago.
Dwarven Host Frame - Front // Wargames Atlantic
This hard plastic set comes with three frames of eighty-two miniatures in 10mm scale, meaning that you get 246 miniatures in the box. There is a variety of different options within the set for building your regiments that can be armed with spears, swords, axes, battleaxes and crossbows. You will also find twelve Ram Riders in the set alongside fifteen Command miniatures and three Casualties for use as objectives or as base dressing.

The miniatures look great and are very nicely detailed. You could easily get this entire army painted with the use of Speed/Contrast paints. The metallics should be a doddle, followed by a mixture of different colours to represent their numerous beards. I also like that they have plenty of winged helms, billowing cloaks and warhorns.

Unboxing: 10mm Orc Horde - Classic Fantasy Battles
We've already seen that Wargames Atlantic are working on Horse Lords and Boneblades for this 10mm Classic Fantasy Battles range so there's much more coming down the pipeline.

If you can't wait for that, snap up the Orc Horde and Dwarven Host and play out a classic Fantasy clash on the tabletop using the rules of your choice. Maybe Dragon Rampant or Midgard would suit until we get an official set of rules from Wargames Atlantic?

They look cool.
I am loving all the 10mm love lately.
Am I wrong or did they make the shields thinner than shown in the initials previews? Might also be the angle of the photos. That said, they look fantastic. Really looking forward to the ruleset WA will be presenting.
I think they are still thicker from going close up on the sprue but will have to see when it lands
