Osprey Games has some neat roleplaying games lined up for later this year, which are well worth taking a look at. We start with one that properly caught my eye, The Hooded Man (sing the theme song).

The Hooded Man RPG - Osprey Games

The Hooded Man RPG // Osprey Games

The Hooded Man by Graham Rose puts you in the role of an outlaw. Falsely accused of some crime by the greedy landowners, tax collectors and barons of the land, you have been forced to head into the woods to join Robin Hood and his Merry Men to become an outlaw, outcast and one of the hooded men!

Robin Hood is a legendary figure, but he can't be everywhere at once, and that's where you come in. You will find yourself becoming a member of Robin's band, striking blows against the Sheriff of Nottingham either as one of Robin's loyal outlaws or as part of an outlaw company of your own.

Characters are created using the past lives as a base during creation, adding in their unique talents, histories and motives into the mix. The game then uses a simple d6 dice-pool system to run your adventures. I am very eager to see what this game is like!

Two Sides of the Coin

If you're looking for something different, then there is also Two Sides of the Coin by Rebecca Blake.

Two Sides of the Coin is a cooperative roleplaying game where there can only be one winner. A unique twist. Designed for one-shot or short form stories, Two Sides of the Coin throws you into intense situations like heists, murder investigations or rescue missions. You are all working to achieve a shared objective but each player also has their own personal goal they are looking to achieve. This means you can never truly trust anyone!

There are a bunch of scenarios included in the book to get you started, as well as information for narrators to use when building their own settings. There is more of a focus on roleplaying with Two Sides of the Coin rather than the dice-rolling (which is still present) but this could be excellent fun for those seeking a break from a grand campaign.

Untamed Worlds

Last but not least, you can live out your Rocket Raccoon-based dreams in Jack Norris' Untamed Worlds.

Humanity has reached the stars but you'd have to be brave or desperate to explore the far reaches of the galaxy. That's where you come in. The nations and mega-corporations of Earth genetically modified animals and sent them out into the black. Expendable animals that now make up the United Expeditionary Force.

This turns into a military science fiction roleplaying game of literal dog soldiers, gorilla commandos, chameleon snipers and octopus gunslingers (hah), defending the interests of humanity who look down on them. You'll use a simple 2d6-based system for gameplay, where both success and failure generate new tactical options for gameplay.

Face down alien threats, rebel factions, rogue A.Is and more as some unloved critters sent into the stars. Become your own Bucky O'Hare.

Could you be tempted by one of these new roleplaying games?
