Victrix Miniatures has expanded the options for those diving into the Historical wargame, Pillage. We start with some new packs for those looking to play as the Scots and the Picts in their games of Pillage.

Scots & Picts Warriors - Victrix Miniatures

Scots & Picts Warriors // Victrix Miniatures

The Scots & Picts Warriors set contains enough miniatures for you to make thirty-six of these Dark Age soldiers. They represent unarmoured warriors who span the Late Roman period through the Viking Age.

The set includes weapons such as long spears and javelins, plus swords and axes. This covers the classic weapons that they would have had access to for the skirmishing that they would have engaged in to hold off invaders like the Romans, Saxons and the Vikings.

The Picts or the "Painted People" dominated Northern Scotland from the 3rd Century, raiding the lands of the Romans and Romano-British. The Scots crossed from Ireland and founded Dál Riata in Western Scotland, expanding and then merging with the Picts until they became unified.

As well as the Scots and Picts with hand weapons and spears, you can also get a set of cunning skirmishers in the form of their Archers.

Scots & Picts Archers - Victrix Miniatures

Scots & Picts Archers // Victrix Miniatures

This set comes with enough components to make twenty-four Archers, again covering the Late Roman period through to the Viking Age. You get the option to give them bows or crossbows with a range of poses that include shooting, loading, at rest and just-loosed. This is twined with a bunch of heads, cloaks and hoods to create your daring ambushers.

Whilst the crossbow may seem like a strange weapon for the Scots and Picts to be using during this period of history, there is evidence to suggest they used an early form of the weapon, which matched the Roman arcuballista, according to Victrix.

Pillage - The Fall of Rome - Victrix Miniatures & Noodle Wargames

Pillage - The Fall of Rome // Victrix Miniatures & Noodle Wargames

This supplement covers seven new factions for Pillage, including the Late Romans, Picts, Goths, Britons and the Huns. This allows you to chart the fall of the Roman Empire alongside new weaponry, units and tactics that you'd expect from the period.

It has been noted that this is a free supplement, so it might not be quite as balanced as the core Pillage rules. Feedback from players will be used to tweak the digital supplement as time goes by. Additionally, this might form part of a larger supplement later on down the line that will also feature the Vandals, Sassanids, Lombards, new scenarios and new rules.

You cannot sniff at FREE and this unlocks the potential for collections to grow using more miniatures from the Victrix range.

Are you going to be trying out Pillage - The Fall of Rome and those new miniature packs?
