Intro:

Hello and welcome, for a starting disclaimer I am not a proper writer, photographer or hobbyist and am simply trying to have fun and maybe give others some ideas for battles and scenarios within the late-war setting of Flames of War (FoW) 🙂

The idea for this project is to have fun and try and recreate some of the battles (and other ‘what if’ battles) between the 16th of April and the 2nd of May, this is up to the surrender of the German forces in the Berlin city area, with a mate over the summer.

The Games:

The idea for the games is to play each game linked into the other with the wins and losses affecting each of the scenarios as the Germans are pushed back and back towards the centre of Berlin. For each of these games there will be a corresponding battle report (Probably mostly pictures) and a brief overview of what happened historically at this point (Roughly). The possible battles that can be expected are as follows, although it may change:

  • The battle at the Seelow heights
  • The counter-attack by German heavy tanks after the breakthrough
  • Battles in the outer-suburbs of Berlin
  • The defence of Tempelhof airport
  • A theoretical storming of one of the Flak-towers
  • The battle for the government district
  • The final breakouts to avoid surrendering to the soviets

As can be seen above this is but a fraction of the battles that took place and we are simply trying to get across the nature of what was happening.

The Armies:

As mentioned above the lists are going to be German(me!) and Soviet lists (me mate!) and will be drawing form the following resources:

  • Berlin
  • Berlin (Digital exclusive)
  • Desperate measures
  • Grey wolf (maybe)

Each army list will be posted before each battle report as will the overall army points.

The Hobby:

The course of articles will also include sections of hobby as I attempt to build buildings and fortifications to create a 3D battlefield. These will probably be shoddily made but I shall try and keep anyone reading up to date with the techniques I am using and what I have done.

The Future:

Well if you’ve read this far cheers for reading and I shall try to keep you up to date with whats happening and so I shall leave you with a very messy paint station…

The mess has already won!The mess has already won!

…and a good day! 🙂
