I have to be honest, I used the tutorial on a popular video site, by @jayadan – thanks Jay! I can highly recommend it.

My take is a little less professional, but I’m happy with it.

I’m now working on the base. So far all I have is a cracked cork layer – I’ll add more as I work trough it.

So, finally finished the base for the Gorm. Since so much of it was going to be under the beasts belly and out of site, I kept it quite simple.

I used flooring cork to created a cracked surface. This was primed grey before I painted a heavy layer of Agrellan Earth. Once dry I repeated this in the areas I really wanted to have a broken look.

Once dry I gave the whole surface a heavy over-brush of Graveyard Earth (not sure what the new equivalent is). This was given three washes of Agrax earthshade. Once dry I overbrushed again in Graveyard Earth. This time it was a lighter overbrush, focusing more on the region around the heavy cracking. I then drybrushed the whole base, giving several light passes over the cracked areas and the edges, using Terminatus Stone.

I used another couple of Creeping Vine pieces, snaking from the centre of the main fractures. I used this to try and give a story to the heavy ground break up to break up – the vines breaking through the dry, barren ground.  I moved these around as they dried to ensure that, for my model, the vine was not being trodden on. I added a few spots of flock, and some flowers to give a little colour, then gave the whole thing a matte varnish.

Finally the Gorm was glued in to place. And I’m done.

Big thanks again to @jayadan.
