Movement tray woes and finding just the right look.

So I thought doing the movement tray would be easy. I had already got a colour palette for the archers and it should just be a case of applying that and some grey then I would be done.

I was totally wrong, finding the right contrast of grey to go with the stone and sand for the mini bases that would also frame the unit well has taken a good few hours of trial and error.

Finally got the tone of grey right with the lettering wash right and the correct highlight colour for said lettering so that I like it. This is where projects are great as I will now put the formula here and will not need to try and remember it 🙂

The centrepiece and skulls have been done with the same formula as the archer’s cloth and skeleton in my previous posts.

The stone grey is black with white zenith highlight, Administratum Grey (GW), a wash of Nuln Oil mixed with Lahmian Medium (GW) to thin it down and be less aggressive i.e. less dark, a wash of the letters with just Nuln Oil and a lower edge highlight of Ushabti Bone (GW).

Really happy with the final look even though it took a while. Next, I will finish basing the six archers for the rear half of the unit and paint the column that goes into that unit. I will then post some pics before starting on the front ten archers and that halves movement tray.

Hope your all having a good weekend.
