Infinity Spring Cleaning
Pano, and thereby Icestorm, is finished!
Whew! That was a long haul (okay fine, only two months but that felt like ages) to get to this point. I learned a lot and definitely improved some as a hobbyist–first time really doing anything other than grit/texture bases. When I started this spring clean I really was just hoping to get my minis assembled but this was a great excuse to get some starting armies ready to go. I shall confess, however, that I’m probably going to take a break from Infinity for a bit. Maybe revisit Mythic Battles where the minis aren’t so detailed that I feel obliged to paint them to as high a standard as I can achieve. We’ll see.
I’ll probably go back later to paint the Kamau’s faceplate black. I find it annoying that CB isn’t consistent in their art but I’ve settled on faceplates as a way to differentiate the sectorial armies. I’m going with red for Neoterra (mostly–my Swiss guard is still blue), green for Acontecimento, black for Varuna, and blue for Military Orders and for Svalerheima/Winterfor. Obviously I’ll throw in appropriately colored accents as well. Sidenote: I’ve decided that all Pano swords will have a red gleam regardless of sectorial.
Overall, I’m quite pleased with the result (although my photography still sucks. That may have to be my next project: taking better pictures).
Now to get a game in!
Looks great! Any regrets on painting after basing?
No regrets. That’s definitely how I’ll do it going forward when I’m not just using grit or texture paint on the base. I guess pinning everything to corks might be even better but I can’t be bothered doing that as I want to have the option to put things away part way through a project.
Beautiful Work!
Thank you!
Look fantastic, took the tour from the start. The bases look great! Don’t know what you are talking about with the pictures, skills are present. CB mini’s are a bit challenging to paint because of all the details, also find it hard to get good refrence pictures now Angel doesn’t post all models / angles anymore. Don’t know what some of the details are nevermind painting them. I do find if you ever get fed up with the process looking at your own models again can help ignight the spark!
Looks fantastic. Might have to just start on my collection of so far built but unpainted Haqqislam over Christmas!
Oh do. They’re great fun to paint.
