As a change from painting 28mm miniatures for either 40K or AoS, I’ve decided to have a go at bringing to life the weird and wacky creations from French sculpting firm Maow Miniatures. Note that you can only purchase miniatures via third party independent retailers and in the UK for me that was visiting the Wamp Store online which has never let me down over a number of transactions in the last five years or so.

First up is my interpretation of the

Monstrophtalmo’pot

I wanted to practise my freehand skills and revisit making a homemade transfer bottle label (which I abjectly failed with on my Commander Glofski tank project for the Spring Clean).

To this end I decided to paint this miniature up in the style of a brand-named eye drop medication bottle, with some subtle changes to the company name.

Painting Time 16 Hours

Paints used:

Grey spray undercoat; ‘ardcoat; Macragge Blue; Lothern Blue; Drachenhof Nightshade; Carroburg Crimson; Averland Sunset; Abbadon Black; Wraithbone

Techniques used:

Blending layers whilst wet; Drybrushing; use of 3D Paint program for graphic manipulation via PC to create transfer label.

Mounted on a 50mm lipped round base.

Photos of finished miniature followed by a gallery of the WIP.
