Painting the Little Big Man - Reaper Bones Hill Giant
All About That Base
Basing a little different to usual as it had to conform with Gloomhaven hexes.
Because of size of model chose a 3 hex footprint which fits quite nicely with models stance.
Had to make custom bases from Cardstock (insert image of cut and glued plain base).
Because of model’s stance he’s leaning forward which obscures a lot of the face when looking from above. Wanted to convey the impression that this is a heavy, powerful, animalistic character that poses a threat but at the same time is acting on instinct rather than malicious intent (eating to survive, protecting home etc)
Could’t decide how to base – struggled with the idea of the left arm smashing something, throwing up stones or cracking rocks but proved difficult to do with the base template and available space.
Settled on having him raised up on a stone outcropping so that his size is increased and his downward stance makes him look like he’s looming over characters more.
Added skulls to the front to try and convey this area is used either for killing, preparing meals or eating – don’t want to go too over the top so that the model can have multiple uses / feelings invoked.
Used cork sheets built up
Final Zenithal Shots – Dullcote because shiny
