Well I unexpected enjoyed that, I really like the game when I’ve played it with an opponent but that was my first solo attempt. At the start I thought it pretty slow but buy the end I was feeling the tension and I only just made it as I was running out of turns and the purge were really there in large numbers.

Would I play this solo again? Yes I plan to try more of the campaign to see what happens but in future I don’t think ill take notes and pictures for a battle report does take extra time.

Turn 10

The event card this turn is Whats it worth, offering me the chance to see the next 3 event cards for 2UA and I decide to pass on this.

Still running for their lives Jace and Lars move twice again.

No more harvesters to add but a new devastator appears.

The devastator takes a shot at Lars through the window and misses. An the assassin shots finish off Gan’eek and he is killed again.

Kadri attacks and gets 1 hit, not enough to take out a harvester.

Treva Jole gets the live one and is replaced with a live one.

Things are getting iffy now, the traders are running with a live one and an assassin close behind along with the rest of the purge.

Solo Core Space (Part 5)

Turn 11

The penultimate event card is Unseen enemies, which raises the hostility by 3.

Again both traders are moving twice heading for the ship.

The devastator hits Lars for 4, cover mitigates 1 and armour takes care of another, so he takes 2 damage.

The live one hits Lars for 2 but cover and armour mitigates this.

The assassin takes out Butler and the harvesters finally finishes off Kadri.

Managed not to take a picture of this turn.

Turn 12

The last event card is Live one Intervention which blasts all non-purge within short range but there are none.

Jace runs for the ship, and moves twice causing an attack of opportunity from a harvester which misses.

Lars moves twice making the ship and that ends the game on the final turn and we just made it.

Turn 7

The event card this turn is I’ve got a bad feeling about this, this causes an opposing trader to spend a skill peg or miss a turn. As there is no opposing trader I randomised which of mine would be impacted and Jace got picked and lost a skill peg.

Jace moves over to Butler, moving away from the harvester causing an attack of opportunity which causes 2 hits on Jace.

Lars tries to persuade and fails and takes a shot at the harvester causing only one hit not enough to damage the harvester. He then uses Hack to take out the closest harvester.

2 harvester and an assassin turn up so things have really started to heat up now. All the purge advance and the devastator takes a shot at Jace and misses.

This cases the threat to move into the “cover me”.

Gan’eek makes a return and shots the harvester.

Kadri moves into the corner of the room.

Butler takes a shot at the closest assassin.

Solo Core Space (Part 4)

Turn 8

The event card this turn is The Great Unwashed which causes all the civilians to activate.

Gan’eek moves.

Kadri moves further into the corner as she gets cover.

Butler takes a shot but only causes 1 hit, not enough.

Jace tries to persuade and fails and takes a shot causing 2 hits enough to take out the harvester.

Lars tries to persuade and fails and then tries to persuade again and makes it, checking to see if this is the disgruntaled employee and get a 6 success (even though Butler is the last civilian from the orginal 3 who is not dead or we have already checked Gan’eek is back so it could be him). Lars takes the objective and drops +2 actions.

2 more harvesters appear and the assassin kills Gan’eek and devastator hits Jace for 1.

Kadri gets the join but cant see the traders and the direction of the arrow is into the wall.

Butler get cover and moves into behind the crate.

Solo Core Space (Part 4)

Turn 9

The event card for this round is Day-to-day business which causes 2 more civilians to spawn at the spawn point closest to the traders. Gan’eek appears again and Treva Jole join him.

Now its time to run for it with purge in hot pursuit meaning that both Jace and Lars move twice run for the corner.

I’m out of harvesters so no more spawns for them.

As Lars is at the back the assassin and the devastator shoot him in the back, the assassin gets one hit and cover takes care of that and the devastator gets 2 hits and cover and his armour take care of that.

The harvester attacks Kadri and misses.

Gan’eek gets join and gets to Jace and joins the crew.

Kadri gets move and stays still.

Butler moves to cover so stays still.

Treva Jole moves to cover.

Turn 4

The event card is Well Regulated Militia which means the Gan’eek takes one for the team and distracts the nearest purge causing it to move towards him.

Jace moves twice towards the civilians.

Lars moves once and searches the small green crate, he finds a Military Pistol, a Common Pistol and Jacket Blades. He takes the Military Pistol and Jacket Blades dropping the outland pistol into the crate.

2 Purge harvester appear but the devastator comes up blank. They all move and finish off poor Gan’eek.

Kadri gets a move.

Butler get assault and takes a shot at Lars but gets a jam again.

End of Turn 4End of Turn 4

Turn 5

The event card drawn is Interference, which means the Butler takes a shot the nearest harvester getting 1 hit, not enough to get past the armour.

Jace moves up to Kadri and successfully makes a persuade but she isn’t the disgruntled employee we are looking for.

Lars moves twice to stay away from the purge.

2 Purge harvester appear but the devastator die is blank.

Kadri gets move.

Butler get cover moving him closer to Lars.

End of Turn 5End of Turn 5

Turn 6

The event card drawn is Gravity Well, which means everyone only get one action.

Jace takes a shot causing 1 hit, not enough to take down a harvester.

Lars takes a shot causing 2 hits and takes down the harvester.

2 Purge harvester appear but the devastator finally makes an appearance.

Kadri gets move.

Butler get trade, moving up to Lars offering him a combat vest, which he trades for +2 action stim.

Turn 2

The event card is Rising Tension which means 2 harvesters straight away and all harvesters get an extra action, not the best start.

Jace moves to the crate and searches finding an Outland Energy Rifle, Shield Belt & an ammo box. He takes the lot.

Lars moves twice up to the green crate.

The purge dice comes up 2 harvesters and then they all get 2 actions! 3 of them close in on Lars and it looks like I forgot to move the one near Jace.

Gan’eek moves into cover.

Kadri also moves to cover.

Butler moves but the direction is off the mat so he stays still.

End of turn 2End of turn 2

Turn 3

The event card drawn is The Law of Sod, this impacts a trader choosen by the first player, i’m going to ignore this one.

Jace moves and shoots with burst fire, scoring 2 hits and killing the first harvester.

Lars moves twice and harvester gets an attack of opportunity which comes up blank and jam.

The purge dice comes up blank. The harvester split up with 2 going after Gan’eek and one chasing Lars.

Gan’eek moves away from the purge.

Kadri moves.

Butler takes a shot at Lars but comes up with a jam.

I decided on a solo game of core space using the first missing in the campaign but with the hostility tracker starting in the second phase to allow for the fact there was only one crew.

I am going to try this as a battle report to see how it goes and then add my thoughts at the end.

I was running Jace & Lars from the Black Marier, with Jace have marksman 1 as the skill with an Outland Rifle and Knife and Lars with Hack 1 as the skill and an Outland Pistol and a Health Stim.

The mission is that one of the civilians has critical data we need, so we need to persuade them and then on a 5 or 6 on a d6 we have the right one. If it is the last one left or we have persuaded all the others then we don’t need to role.

Gan’eek is the top most civilian.

Kadri is the one on the left.

Butler is the one at the bottom.

Starting PointStarting Point

Turn 1

The event card out is Hive Interference, no hive on the table so nothing happens.

Jace move twice for the large crate, Lars moves and searches and finds +2 actions stim.

The Hive dice comes up blank.

Gan’eek dice comes up assault but as there is no LOS to anyone he moves twice up to the green crate.

Kadri dice comes up live one but the threat level isn’t high enough so nothing happens.

Butler’s dice comes up Trade but he cant see anyone so he moves.

First up was an attempt on the PC, I haven’t tried table top simulator yet but this does support the feature of Steam I used in CharterStone.

Having bought the PC version of this, I also have the tabletop version as well, I arranged for myself and 3 friends to play this using the “Remote Play Together” feature of Steam. If you haven’t tried this then I lets people you invite to see your screen and control the mouse and keyboard within the game.

We had a couple of games of this and it worked pretty well although if more than one person move the mouse at the same time things can get pretty interesting, on the whole I liked this and it meant that we didn’t all have to buy a copy of the game to play. On the downside this will not work for any game where you have anything that is hidden from the other players as there is only one screen and everyone can see it.

The game looks something like this. The game looks something like this.
