About the Project
Slowly painting up an Army for Warhammer 40k - having just entered the entered the world of tabletop gaming - COVID-19 appeared, derailing my plans to start playing regularly at my local club.
I decided to find something involving miniatures that I would be able to paint and play with my daughters. I came across Frostgrave.
I am a beginner, both to the hobby and to painting. My previous experience is the 2 1/2 troupes I had managed to paint before the pandemic.

Better do some Better Bases
Updated the soldiers bases using rock and grass to break up the stark white.
Elevating the terrain
I made some elevated paved sections in order to have more variation in the elevation on the table. The simple shapes gave me a chance to get used to the materials.
The pieces are made out of grey-board/chipboard and hot glue.
The pavers are a 1/2″ grid cut into into greyboard and then burnished using a ball point pen. They were coated in a 50/50 mix of ready made filler and pva glue using a bristly brush. I then added some more texture by stippling the mixture on.
