The base
Started by building a base for the miniature
It’s built using layers of insulation foam for the steps
The top is created using a green stuff world roller on a layer of milliput.
Gravel was then added and the whole piece was painted in a bone colour
Washes of brown and green were added to the base then a beige drybrush.
Grass tufts and pigment powders were added as a final finishing to the base

Prime and basecoat
Given a zenithal prime using black and white Vallejo primer
Purple basecoat applied over prime with airbrush
white ink added to purple paint and miniature is sprayed top down to create initial highlights.
purple ink is sprayed from below to create added shadows
Adding some base colors and painting the statue
Started to add some base colors to the strapping and fur
The statue was painted gold them a liberal coat of Nihilakh oxide was added over the whole statue. Before it dryer I rubbed the oxide off the high points leaving it in the recesses. Once dry a heavy drybrush of gold was applied , then it was finished with a light silver drybrush on the high points
Skulls; skulls & more skulls
So many skulls on one miniature, all base coated in Vallejo bone white and shaded with Agrax.
decided that turquoise was not working for fur and mane down his back so repainted with Vallejo wolf grey
…. as I uploaded the picture I noticed more skulls hanging from his horns that I had totally missed painting ?
New fur color
The turquoise fur was confusing the color palette so changed to grey and added a wash of Nuln over it.
Once this is dry I will go back in with a dry brush of original grey.
To add extra definition to the fur and mane I intend to pick out random fur/main areas with a lighter grey/white … pictures to follow
Fur and stuff
Starting to realize this blogging as you paint is not as easy as some of you make it look LOL
i do some painting and forget to add an update
Fur and mane is now painted and highlighted. Used dry brush to start then went in and added extra contrast to individual hairs using brush.
skulls have had a rough dry brush and will be going in with brush to add additional highlights. Some leather straps and metal have had base coats added.
Still lots of strapping and little widgets to paint
Leather wraps & close to finishing
The model is coming close to completion … well nearly
leather wraps where shaded using enamel wash
- area was gloss varnished
- enamel wash was applied to glossed areas
- once wash dried in dipped a q-tip into white spirits and used it to remove the enamel wash from the raised areas
- wash was left in the gaps and towards the edge to of the wraps to resemble natural grime build up
