About the Project

In this project I'll be taking my fledgling steps into Marvel Crisis Protocol. I'll be trying out some techniques and paints I've never used before. Wish me luck.

Scarlet Witch part 2

So I tried out the Magos purple contrast paint on her legs and it looked patchy and well, just shite. I’ll have an official review of Magos purple at the end of this entry.

Instead I covered up the purple with Squid Pink from Vallejo. I gave this a light wash of Carroburg crimson, and then went in with the Squid pink again on the raised areas.

Next I did the spell effects. For this I used Volupus pink contrast (this one worked).

After that it was concrete time.

Now the review.

Scarlet Witch part 1

I figured the best place to start Wanda was with her face.  For this I based it in Cadian Fleshtone, which was washed with Reikland flesh shade before being highlighted with Cadian fleshtone and finally Kislev flesh on the extreme edges.

For her gloves, leotard, hat and boots I used flesh tearers contrast.

Her hair is dryad bark highlighted with gorthor brown.

Beast part 2

I painted his mouth screamer pink and the teeth ubshabti bone.

In the background of the belt buckle I used flesh tearers red. I then carefully filled in the relief of the buckle with German Grey.

I then finished the concrete.

Next I based his belt in Averland Sunset, which was given a highlight of Iyanden yellow.  I also did the tactile paving in a similar manner, only giving it a wash of agrax earthshade to dirty it up.

Finally the last step was to paint the metal. I did thus in the same ways as Magneto.

Beast part 1

I started Beast by focusing on his skin and hair. For his skin (fur?) I applied a coat of Tallasar blue contrast over a zenithal prime. His hair and claws were done with leviadon blue contrast.

His shorts were done in the same way as Venom (German Grey, stormvermin fur, Ulthuan grey, 2 washes of Nuln oil).

I also started the concrete while waiting for the Nuln oil to dry.

Venom part 2

While the Nuln oil was drying I painted the concrete and made a start on the tongue. I went with screamer pink for the base. From here I overbrushed it with pink horror.

I carefully did the eyes and spider symbols in Ulthuan grey.

The teeth were painted with ushabti bone. I then gave them a wash of carroburg crimson (at their base only) to give the impression of gums.

The metal parts on the base were based with dryad bark and drybrushed with ryza rust.

The coffee cup was based in Ulthuan grey and was given a coat of Warp Lightning contrast.  I added a puddle of agrax earthshade around the cup after I took the pictures. I did this because in my head it looks like Venom is raging that someone spilled his Starbucks.
