About the Project

This is a small vignette honouring the tragic fall of the Lamenters Chapter of Space Marines during the Badab War. The Lamenters sided with the secessionist Astral Claws chapter led by Lufgt Huron. The Minotaurs defeated the Lamenters at the space battle over the planet of Optera. The Minotaurs brought them to their knees after destroying the Lamenters gene-seed stock on their Chapter Barque called the 'Mater Lacrimarum' - besides massacring them. Only about 300 Lamenters survived the war.

Building a Small Compact Scene.

Hi everyone,

As I go on using stuff I already have (this year’s theme), I decided to use some of the old Space Marine stuff I have that I will not use anymore with the advent of better proportioned models.

The first step is to build a small, compact scene that resembles the interior of a gothic space ship.

Whether I have managed this successfully to any degree will be left to the viewer. I think I have approached this to my best ability I hope.

The base layer.The base layer.
Adding the walk-way to give more dimension.Adding the walk-way to give more dimension.

This first step took up so much time.  I literally had to rebuild this two and a half times before I was satisfied with the result.  I made many mistakes that I had to walk back and redo over and over again.

The next step is the two models.  A Minotaur and a Lamenter. I have some Forgeworld parts that I will use.  I think the old Space Marines look good as long as they are not placed near other models.

That is all for now.  Till next time.

Hi everyone,

I was working on the models this week.  The Minotaur was basically an out-of-the-box build, but with Forgeworld parts.  The Lamenter on the other hand took some extra work. For this model, I had to cut up the legs in order to reposition the model in a sitting position.

A second fitting.A second fitting.

The next step is to start painting the terrain and the models, but I have decided to remove the green-stuff flag. The reason is because it will be a nightmare to paint up. I will print out a smaller paper flag.  It wont be as dramatic, but I am simply building these dioramas and vignettes as a stress relief therapy. If I get stressed out building them, then it defeats the purpose of the exercise.

Until next time,

Hi everyone,

Just finished painting up the base.  I tried to keep a gothic/industrial look to it. Especially with the marble flooring.

The blood effects is where the dead Lamenter will be placed.  I also did some weathering with rust effects.

Now that the base is finished, I will start the miniatures. Until the next post, stay safe and have fun.

Hi everyone,

The Minotaur Space Marine is now ready.  I opted  to use metallics, because my non-metallic paint-fu is very weak!  I don’t think it came out badly. If I was capable of non-metallic painting though, it would have turned out better, but ‘c’est la vie’ as the French say.

So that is all for this project for today.  I am currently working on my ‘Silver Bayonet’ project again, so this will slow down this project a bit.  I also want to choose some project to join the Spring Clean contest – I just want to join for the motivation.

Until next time, stay safe and have fun.

Hi everyone,

I have finished the main body of the Lamenter, except for the arm and banner which still need some work. Otherwise, the marine is ready and weathered.

The arm and banner of the Lamenter need some extra work.  Things did not go together as I planned out, so I had to refit and reposition a few things.

Other than that I hope to finish this project by the end of this week!

Until next post, stay safe and have fun.

Hi everyone,

The project is nearly finished.  I just have some small adjustments to make, but I have done some work on the banner.  I was sidetracked by my Silver Bayonet work.

As you can see, I changed the banner from a putty one to a paper one. Hopefully I will finish this project some time mid-week.

Until then stay safe and have fun.

Hi everyone,

I finally finished this little vignette.  I added some electrical/plasma effects on the banner and refitted the banner slightly.  Then I put everything in place and called it a day.

I have been having a lot of fun with these vignettes and dioramas and I have decided to do more.  I just have to decided what to do next.  As I have mentioned before, I have several ideas on the table, so it is just a matter of choosing.

Until the next project, stay safe and have fun.
