About the Project

Missed spring clean but found an army in a box ! So digging out an unfinished / not fully built Nid army for 40K I thought I'd get it done to kick start 10th edition . Taking the skills I stole from the turnip 28 crowd ;) I'm back at it with grass tuffs and eye lashes . Embrace the fuzz !

Luckily I got a Saturday off when it was delivered . A pretty hot day for England so I hid in the coolest room and started to build the nids .

using 10mm grass tuffs for the monsters back carapace and 5mm for the standard sized models . Putting super glue down first then sticking the tuffs on in production line way of working. Waiting for the lot to stick and dry I mixed a little water to modge-podge glue ( thick PVA) I dabbed it to all the tuffs to add a hard texture to paint on later .

Using the old-one-eyes crushing claws in place of the screamer killers lower arms I drilled out part of its head and eye to sculpt in part of a skull.

? Stripping ?

Plopping nid bits into bio strip over night are now scrubbed and ready to be rebuilt … warning this stuff will break down super glue and green stuff

( came in handy for me )

Finding a flying hive tyrant and a few other parts I started by finishing the flying body . Then adding the wings on to its back carapace not its arm sockets . This gave me more places to add the extra arms purely for looks. The two sets of arms had been flesh borer hives arms adding these to make a flying mantis feature . I didn’t bother greenstuff / muliputt the gaps as the grass tuffs will do that job for me .
