About the Project
Taking a break from Moonstone painting for a little while and decided to paint my Chaos Dwarf team for Blood Bowl. I have since decided to just make it a full blood bowl project as I have a few other models that need painting. Hopefully this project will help encourage me to get up to date.

Grashnak update
This model is really nice to paint. It has plenty of detail which the dry brush helped accentuate with my painting.
The model is about half finished but I am liking the progress so far.
with my paints use, I have limited the GW paints with one exception. I am mostly choosing a colour then using black or white to darken or lighten respectively.
Next up
The next model up for painting is Grashnak Blackhoof. TBH I do like a Minotaur even the GW ones who are on steroids.
To mix it up a bit, I decided to try and paint this one with using minimal Citadel paints. I have multiple paints that don’t get a look in as I am so used to grabbing a GW paint without thinking. I will use the GW option if I need to but only as a last option.
So far I primed the model back (AK), then heavily dry brushed it white (Vallejo).
I then painted the armour Periscopes (Vallejo) and mixed a little of the white into the paint to do the edge highlight.
The metal trim was painted with Plate Armour (Two thin coats) and washed with Agra’s Earthshade (Citadel – the no GW lasted a long time). I then edge highlighted with Mithril Silver (TTC).
I don’t really have a defined plan for a colour scheme beyond what has been done and that I will go for a darker tone for the flesh. So will see what happens
Rashnak Backstabber
So the next star player off of the pile of potential is Rashnak Backstabber.
I wanted to keep it similar to my chaos dwarf team but the way things are going with my team value I am unlikely going to need any stars for the team.
However, it is one more miniature competed.
Anqi Panqi
Continuing on with my Blood Bowl models, the next one up is Anqi Panqi.
The Lizardman team is my favourite team so getting a new Star Player should be a good thing. I won’t ever be able to afford him in a league but at the option will be there.
I decided to go with a scheme similar to my actual team but didn’t worry too much as this was just supposed to be a fun diversion.
The miniature is about 98% finished as I just need to paint the inside of the mouth and maybe do something more interesting with the feathers.
I have four more star players primed to paint and then I might head back to Moonstone painting – maybe even for the spring clean challenge. But I also have the gnome team to paint which with the size of the gnomes, I have not been looking forward to.
Palette cleanser
To get over the batch painting of two teams in quick time, I decided to paint a single model.
I have a some GW star players still needing painting (surprisingly they are all built) but only a few have been primed so to keep it easy I picked one of those
The player I went for was the Guffle Pusmaw. To keep it easy I went for the roughly the GW paint scheme and it turned out as follows.
it also turns out I can occasionally take a not completely awful picture.
Birthday gift part 3
The gift has been given and received – I think it was appreciated.
The good news is that he did actually come and a play a game. So hopefully this will be one a regular thing again for him and in which case I can ignore the dodgy paint jobs and the amount of time I spent doing it, as the models will have served their purpose
Birthday gift part 2
Whilst waiting for my brothers team to arrive for painting, which took forever, I decided to paint up a spare team I bought a few years ago on a whim and never got round to painting.
So to go with the chaos dwarfs that my brother chose I had a Chaos Renegades team I bought. I technically bought it for the big guys to use on other teams but never did use them for anything.
Again I went with the Blackburn Rovers theme but this time the away strip. When I checked they play in black with a red pinstripe – there is no way in hell I was doing a pinstripe of 14 models. I then remembered a tip he had years ago where they had black and red halves and thought that would do.
See below for some pictures with my consistently bad photography.
I did prefer these to the chaos dwarfs team but I think you can tell that it was a quick ( for me) paint job.
What I found out whilst doing these teams as a gift, I don’t like painting for other people. I also found out I don’t like painting miniatures I don’t particularly like.
Both things arent exactly startling revelations but at least I know not to offer again so good times
Birthday present part 1
As it was younger brothers birthday, I decided to paint him a blood bowl team as a gift. In recent years with life taking over he has fell out of the habit of playing.
so at a recent family event I asked if he wanted a team for his birthday, which he could chose and I would paint.
He duly choose a team – one I wasn’t impressed with – but it was his choice so I ordered it anyway.
The team then arrived and off I wet to finish in time for his birthday. Tbf when the team arrived, I was even less impressed with the sculpts and the quality of the print, but nevermind.
for the paint scheme I decided to keep it relatively simple so I could complete it in time but as he is a Blackburn rovers fan, I went for blue and white halves.
As you can see my photography skills are as bad as the models but they will do. Below is a team photo, I am happy with the results? Not really but they will do and I can always do a replacement for Christmas……… or not.
