In bed with a stonking great cold, but got the weekender to see me through it
Get well soon mate!
I’ve got my Sci Fi set from the Kickstarter and it’s awesome!
There are three Space Hulk expansions hitting iTunes. Ultramarines, Space Wolves, and Dark Angels.
And they appear to be reprints of the original white dwarf articles. Which they are now charging £10 each for.
Or between 3 and 4 times the cost of the entire magazine they each appeared in.
Good night from mexico!!!!…I still have the DEEP SPACE ASSAULT CONSOLE from back in 2009 😀
Oooh, I’d love to see jungle trees and all sorts of nasty traps- perhaps even mountainous sides to make valleys or simulate an underwater trench *cue kraken noises*. Fantastic work as always guys!
The fantasy set looks awesome, guess it’s time to head back to Kickstarter. Wish I’d have got involved for the sci-fi set. (Hint, hint, hint.)
Speaking of which, while pre-ordering my copy of Space Hulk, I found that GW plans to have 3 different digital add-ons for it detailing Ultramarines, Deathwing and Space Wolves with new scenarios and rules for each. Makes me want to get some of the suggested Terminator sets, but I’m really disappointed that the downloads are only for iPads, not Androids or PC/Macs. Get on the stick, GW. Thankfully, at least they didn’t price them as ridiculously as they did the digital version of the new Grey Knight codex compared to the hard cover copy. C,mon, really? Five and a half dollars MORE for the digital version? I hope I don’t have to end up having to read the Space Hulk expansions on my iTouch when I have a perfectly good Android tablet. But it took a while for the Android version of WH40K: Carnage to come along.
Take care and keep up the good work.
Ooh, yeah, I’d like to see caverns (although irregular walls could be difficult) and Greek style temple complex with column, altars and such.
Another great episode as always!
About Space Hulks… i’ll play Deadzone and make missions inside infested spaceships and see how can surive inside it… and leave or reach the planet alive… The cost of space hulk is just too much and i don’t feel the product matches it. I’ll buy first the videogame and see if i fall in love with it.
About Battle System i’m really interested in get it but at the moment i don’t have games that require that much terrain, but is truly amazing and it will work perfect with Deadzone… not sure with Warmahordes, never tried multilevel.
Ok.. I want sewers!
lol The sewers had that effect one me too
Warren, the original expansions for space hulk were not fan based, but published in the White Dwarf. The covered the use of space elves, harlequins, imperial guard and orcs for missions in space hulk, replacing the terminators. Played quite a few of these back in the day, with the extra tiles that were also included in the White Dwarf to expand the first edition maps. One day I will have to dig through the crap and give you the WD numbers they came in and a few photo’s of the guff.
Yup I’m sure, but I was definitely referring to a bunch of fan based stuff I saw on the internet back then (including solo rules etc ) 🙂
THERE IS SOMETHING THAT IS CALLED ( sorry caps lock) space hulk bible – pdf that you can download from web, it has all the rules including both expansions – all official GW stuff not fan made.
you can download it from my blog
link here
http://miniaturesconversion.blogspot.co.uk/2014/09/my-first-edition-space-hulk-and-stuff.html
I was a it wrong about it it is fan made but all the content is from space hulk firs edition, expation deathwing and genestealers , spacehulk campaints and articles from white dwarf and citadel jurnal.
The Carnivale KS kicks off at 9am GMT. It would be an odd decision to release a limited run Space Hulk then release box set expansions that many people couldn’t use.
Yup at the time of filming, we we’re not sure how limited it was going to be unfortunately 🙁
Another great show guys. Missed Lloyd though.
So Warren… Which terrain do you preffer. Mantic or Battle Systems?
Ohh that’s a tricky one…
They are both pretty even, as they cancel out each other drawbacks. (one is already ‘painted’ or textured, the other is more permanent)
But they are both pretty quick to build, and with the BS stuff, once its up you are playing on something that is full colour ready to go.
Yeah hard call to make there… mmmmmmm
Nicely diplomatic answer. 🙂 lol
Have to say in all seriousness though. I’m the same. They both look so good I can’t choose between them. And there’s no reason why you couldn’t mix the two. 🙂
My friend went in for the Sci Fi Battlesystems for Deadzone. The idea is to have a 3 mat game with my fortifications on one side, his Battlesystems facility on the other and ruined no mans land in between. Then Play an epic game of capture the flag with recycling units. He just got his Battlesystems assembled so I’m hoping we can have an epic game of deadzone on them on Thursday!
Battlesystems terrain is awsome. Ive got the Sci’fi set, strongly thinking of getting the fantasy set after this show. But WHEN are we going to get a Steampunk/VSF/Victoriana terrain set? OR/AND a Modern terrain set?
Imagine a street set with adjoining buildings in Steampunk/VSF/Victoriana. Imagine a Modern set including streets, motorways and a multilevel inside of a shopping mall or skyskraper. Imagine combining the Fanstasy sewer set with a Steampunk/VSF/Victoriana terrain set. Lower level sewer, next level street, and then building levels above that.
Or zombiehunting in a three-level shopping mall. Or why not a Fantasy/Sci-fi Arabian Nights terrain set to build upon the current terrain sets. With the Sci-fi set as the inside of a space ship opening up into a large arabian nights garden area. Oh my…I could go on forever
Now thats what I want! …got to finish building my sci-fi set now.
What a fantastic set of scenery, and the designer comes across as a very pleasant chap as we’ll 🙂
Forgot one terrain set I’d like to see. A WWI terrain set, to commenorate the Great War, with bunkers below ground, a trenchsystem and then ground level. WWI multilevel gaming, never done that before 🙂
That’d be awesome, but I’ve got no idea how they could go about doing bunkers underneath the ground.
I want a grotty back alley set for infinity! think bladerunner! lots of stalls and chinese signs, perspex windows, tight alleyways!
You know it makes sense!
I kind of hate to admit it, but my “suspension of disbelief” sense is failing me on the US character idea. A veteran of the Indian Wars, which depending on which tribe/region we’re talking about, mostly occurred in the antebellum (it really means post-war, usually the American Civil War) US walking around circa 1800 Venice, armed with Colt .45 revolvers which weren’t created until the 1870’s*?
He would stand out like a fish out of water. Which, admittedly, the Carnevale world actually has as a regular occurrence. But still, not feelin’ it.
*Other caliber Colt revolvers became popular circa 1850.
But kudos to the community for loads of good character ideas!
Come to think about it, this sounds much more like a Volsung character than a Carnivale one.
Great show guys. Battle Systems terrain does look amazing and even though I’m really not into fantasy, the new set looks even better than than the sci fi one. I’m looking forward to seeing what they do next.
nice to see you back 😉
Battle Systems, smashed it out of the park once again. Love their communication with the community.
I would love to see advanced alien internal. In the style of Protoss or Necron.
I missed the first run of Space Hulk 3rd edition. I have been a baker for the Battle Systems SciFi terrain and now have pre ordered a copy of SH. Now I’m looking forward to play one of the most awesome SiFi board games on the best looking 3D card board terrain!
I want the Battle Systems Sci-Fi set for my MERCS Recon Kickstarter. Sooo many minis coming.
Battle Systems KS are the nuts, easily the best I’ve been in (and that’s a LOT!) due to constant communication and updates – well done guy’s.
Great video guys. I’d love Battle Systems to create an updated version of the Necromunda Terrain, not just the towers and suspended walkways that came in the boxed set, but the additional bits in the expansions.
The originals sell for huge money on ebay, so there must be market. That kind of specific multi level setup is also useful for deadzone and infinity as well, and would provide a good add-on to the existing sci fi terrain.
Great show. Love that terrain. So many details in it.
Great show guys, you’ve got me slobbering over the idea of that battle systems terrain!
If only I hadn’t just started a new job, I’d be putting a bit more into Battle Systems 🙁
Great to see the stuff that Battle systems do, does anyone know if they plan to do sci-fi and /or the fantasy sets for 15mm? As for 28mm Post apocalyptic stuff would be good.
Carnevale is live!
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/611224377/carnevale-the-narrative-miniatures-game
Just pledged, so far they are already over 20% funded within the first 15 minutes.
I missed out on Space Hulk last time and was gutted! Pre ordered my copy last night because it just couldn’t happen again. Space hulk is one of those games where you have to have at least one dusty copy in your dungeon sum where to call yourself a true gamer. The sound board though is just tooooooooo good!!!! I cannot wait to use it. BOW coming out with the goodies yet again!
Another great show guys, the terrain is awesome, you’ve tempted me to enter the kickstarter! The wallet is groaning!
Battle Systems – very interesting.
How about Castle walls, towers, keeps, forges, barracks
Town houses of the rich and not so rich
A fantasy/medieval port – jetties, wharves, warehouses
Siege engines, mantlets, battering rams, siege towers, mangonels, trebuchets
Ships? Interiors and exteriors
Another excellent show.
Love the terrain, the new SiFi would go great with operation ice storm when it arrives, hopefully in time for my birthday on the 27th.
I’m sure the death wing expansion for space hulk had solo rules in it.
Keep up the good work. Can’t wait fir the XLBS
That scifi terrain would be great to improve the infinity operation icestorm table with more elements. You could also do a new sci fi release with more infinity friendly iconography ,
Those terrains look awesome, but I haven’t see what I can use in my games yet. Maybe if they release something within the Infinity’s background, I will definitely grab one of them. Something like a giant sci-fi warehouse or laboratory that can be used in extraction scenarios.
Great show. Missed out on Space Hulk last time. Going to get the new one
Yeah, that terrain looks great.
Hopefully they’ll also turn towards something cannel like, for carnevale.
Have to agree with a lot of the comments ref Battlesystems. Colin and Wayne are great guys and it is easily the most professional backer friendly KS I’ve bee involved with in terms of comms, community, responsiveness etc etc the list goes on. And unfortunately for my wallet I’ve backed loads of different ones both gaming and others 🙂
Great terrain!
First thoughts are sewers for Maifaux, what about Venetian cellars for Carevale with the Vatican v Striogi (Draculas undead). Wolsung could work well.
Only idea I can think of is a twin release of a 118 story skyscraper with a new Die Hard miniatures game! First expansion Die Hard 2 but no idea what the following expansions could be called.
In love with what I’ve seen n heard with the battle systems gear !!! I have collected space hulk since I got in to the hobby and would have to get my hands on a set of that battle system stuff …. As for other types a bio ship or inside of an old school bond villains hide out would be fun with a tiny white cat and a tank of sharks haha
I would really like some outside tiles and terrain from Battle systems. Forest, rivers, street tiles, you name it!
Impressed with the terrain and the way they run their campaigns.
Hi guys, great show, it got a bit panto for one moment when you discussed space hulk, I found myself shouting “it’s behind you!” (Well Sam anyway) when you were looking for the old ed of space hulk, V strange. Loving the battle systems terrain, especially as I’ve just heavily backed dungeon saga! Would be cool to see some individual buildings, walls, church’s and graveyards but I would also like to see a tree top version ala Endor, or a wood elf hideout (rope bridges, big ass trees etc).
according to their website, BattleQuestGaming day is 27 September…
http://www.battlequestgames.co.uk/events/
although as a games shop it’s always worth a visit!
Space Hulk – Easy to play intro to world; shares models with TT game and now can use other models in SH.
Dreadfleet – Standalone.
I admire BattleSystems for holding off on retail sales until all backers are fulfilled.
Have I mentioned I’m an EU Myth backer…?
New Carnevale character sounds slightly familiar…
… Kato the puppet master from Bushido?
So what can I pay with that terrain?
– LOTR skirmish
– Malifaux catacombs/sewers
– Carnevale sewers (in Venice?) or ‘under the Vatican’
– Other steampunk
– Mercs skirmish *
– Infinity skirmish *
– various RPG
(* crossover with Sci-fi terrain)
So is it worth it – damn right it is!
the battle system stuff looks really nice
I’ve got my sci fi set from the kickstarter already, but I’ve already worked out how to fit another one in. Currently on board for the fantasy one and liking the way it’s going. I’m thinking I’d like to see an Egyptian tomb theme next, which I know has been doing the rounds in the comments section on the current project so fingers crossed.
I missed out on Battlesystems because I spent so much on the Deadzone KS, kicking myself now I’ve seen the quality of it!
I didn’t get space hulk last time around and have been looking around trying to get it at a reasonable price and then GW rerelease it great news for me, shame they haven’t revamped it a little though.
Sci fi battlesystem is superb but I don’t understand why the quantity is limited !
I would like at least two boxes !!
I have never before supported something on Kickstarter, the dungeon made me at least register at it. I´m quite shure I will go for it, altough the sci-fi stuff would have interrested me more. Good work!
Going to get the sci fi one for my copy of space hulk.
great show wish I had stuff like that when I was doing D & D in the 70’s
nice
This looks great and is just my thing as I’m too lazy and don’t have enough time to use Hirst Arts moulds or build my own papercraft terrain.
Woke up and watched some weekender. Nowbits time for some gaming. Today is Check your Six at tue club.
Awesome, second what Sam said about the books scattered about such a great little detail.
Eeeee, I won something.
Suppose I’d best back the kickstarter for Carnevale now.
I really love you’re video’s guys, you try to get a good narrative in each game you play and it inspires me to do the same.
What about another Wolsung battle rep?
My money for ks is almost depleted, so ill try my luck here 🙂
Great episode as always. How about an aircraft carrier for modern gaming? Decking on any type of large ship would be very cool. Would be ideal for Wolsung with old school HMS Victory?
I had a look at your Dave Graffam paper terrain, looks great. However in the Tudor House section, Darrell’s video review would not play. I would love to see it, is anyone else having this problem?
Ta
Aztec/Egyptian Pyramid complex
Nice one “lunchbox”, I’m so jealous, really thought I was in with a chance with my “Dandy Highwayman”, oh well
once again. Congrats
I love the look of that fantasy terrain.
Backed the Sci Fi KS and really like the terrain might have the back the fantasy one.
great weekender. didn’t win the reaver tho 🙁 hoping for better luck for the battle systems stuff. glad to see on the table back!
I am new to the this style of gaming and I have to say its Battle Systems terrain that made me take the leap. The detail of it already is brilliant, and then to top it off they take their backers thoughts and ideas and make in even more improvements and additions. This is one awesome piece of work and I cant wait to set it up and battle it out with my new minis.
Pretty amazing, especially the fantasy stuff.
Awesome Terrain !
love the show, how about building’s for sci fi and steam punk city.
I’d like to see an Egyptian set for use with pulp games etc.
Space Hulk and fantastic fantasy terrain in one episode…gamer bliss! Well done guys. Now to unbarricade the man-cave and see if the Weekender WidowTM managed to survive without me.
Looks like great terrain. Missed out on the scifi version, but thinking about this.
Space Hulk v2 was hiding in the bottom left hand corner of the screen beside Sam.
I’m going to ask if you guys might do a hobby lab table using numerous types of terrain, the battlesystems, deadzone and GW stuff. A mix and match table 🙂
I had written off going for the terrain competition after my first attempt at painting mine failed horribly. January gives me the opportunity to try again… With my complete collection.
Oh dear oh dear oh dear…
That is rediculously good looking stuff. Wishing the best for that kickstarter. Looking foreward to get that.
Saturday complete now, painting and the weekender. Loving the Battle Systems and the ideas. Very exciting times.
PS: Congrats to all the winners
Very pleased with all your hard work guys, keep it up!
battle system look awesome: maybe in the future see some ruin city(scifi and fantasy) with loads of debris scatter around
Fantasy docks like Five Fingers frow PP
Battle systems looks good but I wonder how durable it would be in the long run
This looks so great, even it could be a lil darker like in Natural Selection!
Cool terrain.
That Fantasy terrain looks gorgeous…I wish I could pledge the KS (Zombicide just went to the pledge manager with ton of extras…)
please pick me omg !
There is a couple other faction scenarios available separately, there is Space wolves, Deathwing and Ultramarines mission files, tho they seem to only be available for Ipads. I’m excited i hadn’t gotten back into the hobby yet when it last came out and really wanted it but I can’t bring myself to pay $250+ for it so getting it for just over a 100 makes me really happy.
That Battlesystem terrain is awesome I wish I had backed the kickstarter and can’t wait till it goes up for sale to everyone. Tho how come its not going regular retail or continuing to make it, I imagine it would do pretty well.
NIce Weekender. Awesome terrain. I really regret not getting on the sci fir kickstarter. Maybe I win a box of it now 😀
Great video as always! I second the many calls for a natural terrain setting, like caverns or forests, etc…
Also great would be village terrain… Small buildings, removable roofs, lots of carts, haybales, etc…
Awesome stuff.
I am continually impressed by BattleSystems….may finally breakdown and buy it!
Hmm, really wanting to have a go with the Battle Systems terrain as a Fallout style vault or Enclave facility to go with the Brother Vinni’s Nuclear Sandlot minis. Fallout RP games beckon…
village streets would be awesome or other outsides
+1 to that. It’s outside but NOT a castle.
Great opportunity to create a number of modules in the range covering different eras – bearing in mind that there are still some 15/16th C houses around in the 21st C and certainly would have been in a Steampunk era.
Plus if you drop down a manhole you’re then in the sewers scenery – why not follow a trail underground before popping up somewhere else overground?
Great episode… and that terrain looks so good !!
Looks awesome! May I have one?
I do not why go will not support games like space hulk. I like the game more when you can use other faction in it. The terrain looks great, but I am a terrain junky.
Not go GW. Damn auto correct.
Great episode! And great terrain! I should kickstart it. I should buy the scifi set. I may win it…
Fingers crossed!
Congratz to the winner of the titan 🙂
The terrain looks pretty cool, Battle Systems made an awesome job. The marketing strategy GW uses is a bit confusing, but it gives me the opportunity to finally buy Space Hulk.
Thanx for the great Weekender episode.
Personally, I think Space Hulk is GW’s hedge against the risk/investment they made with Fantasy End Times, Nagash, etc..
Allegedly, Nagash sold extremely well, but without the benefit of hindsight, releasing something crazy like this for the flagging Warhammer Fantasy game must’ve looked like a huge risk, doubly so if there are more “Nagash-sized” beasts coming.
Putting Space Hulk in the middle of it all might well have been their “if-End-Times-bombs”-safety net.
Battle Systems looks GREAT.
Any thoughts about doing something more exterior – e.i. Farm or village?
The battle systems terrain does look nice… how difficult was it to “punch out” and assemble, i.e. how accurate are the cuts (need manual adjustments to the slots or the punch not all the way through) and now strong or the pieces (that is do they bend when you try to assemble it)?
That fantasy terrain looks perfect for the dungeon saga kickstarter I just backed……
Such a shame about space hulk, sold out before most people will have even heard about it. What is wrong with GW.
I would love to see more expansions for Space Hulk, but the cynic in me expects it just to be a blip in an attempt to boost sales.
Will check out the kickstarter. Looks cool.
space hulk looks amazing. cant wait to win/purchase the game.
you guys have always done a great job with everything war gameing.
and im exited to see you guys kick it up a notch with the
give aways to promote a great company that defiantly deserves more
attention from the war gameing community. thanks for all you do.
So excited about this Sci-Fi terrain prize.
I hope his kick starter goes well! Maybe a scifi metropolis?
Wonderful show guys. The terrain is beautiful!
@Battle System: What about some cuty terrain? Is that already on your radar?
Great show guys, this has become my Saturday morning ritual, and it’s not a bad one to have! Unless you’re my wife and feel there’s yard work that needs doing… Thank god for sheds and wireless internet!
epic
Great show as always, love the look of all the battlesystems stuff! I assumed that they were aiming to create crystal maze on the table top… When they’ve got all the sectors done then they’ll release the rules! 😉
I dont know if I missed it somewhere but where are the minis from that were on the Battlesystems layout? And what about those clear bases…where are they from? I think I am gonna have to do a set that way for a couple of different games.
Thanks for any info guys.
Excellent show, my pre-order for Space Hulk is in, too slow last time and can’t afford e-bay prices! Great scenery, you’ve got dungeons and sewers how about going up a level for city streets and alleys?
My wife looks worried. She sat next to me as I watched this, and could tell that the wheels in my head were just turning. I can see a lot of play for this terrain, especially with talk of Mantic creating a fantasy skirmish game in the future. I am now considering the sci-fi set as well, simply because I could see Enforcers going up against plaguers or Vermyn in a space ship setting in Deadzone.
Loved the show!
I’m contemplating trying the other Marine army additions for space hulk
Didnt go for the kickstarted for the terrain but I will definatly be getting a set when I can.
Love the Battle System terrain.
Another great show guys!
We have the Sci-fi Battle Systems terrain with the Bunker expansion so that we can have our Deadzone terrain blend right into the Battle Systems for an epic sprawling fight!
As for where Battle Sysytems should go next I think we need a modern Mall. With all the Zombie games out there how much fun would it be to do Dawn of the Dead with 3d terrain??
Battle systems stuff looks fantastic. Good to say they’re good folks too. Good luck with the kickstarter, fellas
Cheers Fellas. That Battle Systems stuff looks stunning !
going to back this for my dungeon saga kickstarter just wish I had got in on the science fiction one for my avp coming in december
The battle system terrains look stunningly good.
I would love to see what they can do with the Carnavale universe.
That fantasy stuff looks great, but I really love the sci-fi set. BoW, hook me up! 😀
Love the BoW weekender show^^
cool battle system terrain ^^
i am glade that you plan to start again with on the table
Battle System’s stuff is great. Missed out on the Sci-Fi (unless BoW saves the day), but am in for the Fantasy set. Can’t wait to see it reach its full potential at the end of the KS. Some great add-ons already. And the comment section is just… nuts :-D. I’d have backed for that one alone.
Great video btw guys, and great job Colin!
I think they are adding some expansions for space hulk at15$ for space wolves, dark angels, and ultramarines. Which is kind of funny because I think they released the same stuff in the 90s for free in WD. Oh GW.
i really like the fantasy one more than the sci fi one yet dont play any fantasy games anymore .
im guessing im one of the few(well im hoping im not the only one) that hates the space hulk games id rather they release space crusade(or something like it), necromunda, bloodbowl, gorkamorka, warhammer quest, dark future or mordhiem as they are much better games imho
also justin if you want i could kneecap warren for you just say the word and it will be done as hes always bullying you
WRT different Battle Systems scenery, how about in the style of a navy warship, with engine room, cargo room, crew quarters. There are so many games that could benefit from that. Could be modern and WWII.
very nice terrain indeed.
regarding Space Hulk – they have two digital expansions coming out (only IiOS tho). I think Space Hulk is a timeless game and stands up pretty good with other games out there of similar ilk. level 7 springs to mind. And its terminators vs genestealers in a hulk. Nuff said. Mind you remember advanced space crusade – now that was a close match and did have support for wide range of minis.
You guys are crazy nice to always be giving stuff like this away. You are all awesome people.
Man, I’d love this for mordheim, this stuff would be great as is, or if there was a ruined version of it. I also love the game mat that the dungeon gets built on top of. I’ve just preordered space hulk and I’d love to get the sci-fi stuff as well. Speaking of mordheim, it would be great to see a re-release as well!
I really like the battlesystems so far. Might be a blast to include an elven forest with multi layer tree houses and bridges between them. Probably a crazy idea.
Otherwise just include the castle wall upgrade.
I’m very excited about the terrain from battle systems. One of the biggest issues I had with being motivated to paint up my miniatures was not having anything decent for them to fight on/around other than piles of books and rubbish. Lovely stuff!
Good stuff
I owned a copy of the first ed Space Hulk way back in the day but was stupid enough to sell it so am delighted that it is being made available again, deposit already made at my FLGS.
On the terrain side of things a few of us locally are only just getting into Infinity now that N3 is on the way so that sci fi terrain would be a godsend.
Finally, great show again guys, keep it up
Outdoor terrain would be great as well! really wish I had not just blown all of my Kickstarter money on Dungeon Saga!! Dungeon Saga and Battlesystem fantasy would be amazing together.
A super clean environment set in the future; Infinity and Deadzone compatible.
Another top show guys bring on tomorrows
can we imagine something modern like Army base or prison environment in the battlesystem range. maybe an office or shopping mall? that would be awesome for zombie games
The battle system stuff looks great
still waiting for my kickstarter its in the states now its just waiting for it
I WANT WARRENS BOX!
Rargh…I wish they would put that digital spacewolf/dark angel/ultramarine expansion content in printed form.
From Battle Systems I would love an Egyptian themed dungeon full of traps. It’d work for Fantasy, Pulp Adventures, and even some Star Gate style Sci-Fi.
I am a backer of BS on their fantasy dungeon and having seen it today on your great show, I am soo looking forward to playing this game with my son. Backed Dungeon Saga as well so the two together will given endless hours of fun. Having missed out on their Sci-fi set (didn’t get what kickstarter was till recently) would love to add that to my WH40k models and gaming. Well done Colin and Wayne.
That terrain looks great.
Missed out on the Sci-Fi version and really want to get a set.
The one thing I really hope that Battle Systems will get on to is infinity styled terrain. I backed the Sci-Fi system on kickstarter, and all I could think when building it was ‘this could be used to make some really cool buildings for infinity’ And since infinity is such a heavy user of terrain, having a low cost option would be really cool
I’d certainly like to be in with a shout of winning some awesome terrain.
A Great Hall, lot’s of tables: I just need a stool and a sorting hat and I might be able to make something out of that 😉
Got to get me some of that! Would love to see steampunk style terrain!
Would love to see a castle made from the battle systems.
Or some builings in general both fantasy and sci-fi
that terrain looks amazing, would be great to have it
Awesome terrain
I would love to see a huge modular battle systems board that starts in an ancient overgrown temple, vines, tree, traps (think indiana jones and temple of doom), then climbing through a tunnel in the end making you delve into a dungeon level which then descends further into catacomb (skeletons, water, sewers, iconography and illuminations) which leads to an ancient alien space ship buried beneath it all. And inside the transport deck of the space ship, you have a portal to another realm.
I would love to see a clockwork mansion……….
Great shows guys! Glad to hear about the extension to the Mantic terrain comp as my offering is progressing well but slowly!
Why does everyone keep doing this to me? I always have to choose! Do I go for the battle systems sci fi terrain during the short time it will be available or do I go for Space Hulk for the short time that will be available? Really want both.
I just backed the Fantasy stuff. If those castle walls are developed though, I will be jumping on that so fast!!
Love the sci if terrain would be great for dead zone and kill team games
do they have any plans to sell these regularly and not just via kick starter or kick starter surplus?
going to have to use battle systems to do spacehulk
Lovely show guys, nothing bring a smile to the face like someone getting beaten by Space Hulk.
Loveing the Battlesystems terrain, its gonna be awesome to use. Allready pledget way to much =)
Enjoyed watching the weekender while gluing my Sturmpionere squad together. How about a Weird War/Steam Punk set of Battle Systems scenery for the next project?
Gutted I missed the Sci Fi set on KS, wouldn’t mind winning a set somehow….
Great show!
Carnevale and Battle systems in the same month it’s like a sign from the Gods.
Gutted I missed the scifi BattleSystems Kickstarter back in the day. I’m in for the dungeon set but I would commit moderate crimes for some of the futuristic stuff.
I would like to see a Mad-Science Lab (both Fantasy and Sci-Fi versions) just perfect for all kinds of games (Zombies, Alchemic Necromancy, Animal Hybrids).
Yay or Space Crusade – Great stuff – though I still want a Re-release of Warhammer Quest :p
I really want that sci fi pack, I am in the kickstarter for the fantasy now
Great show love the terrain was considering spacehulk but its sold out not a blood angle player so no great loss.
Looks like it could be great infinity.
Well, I blew my gaming budget with Operation Icestorm and managing to order Space Hulk before it sold (had to wait five years for that) so getting that sweet looking Battle systems terrain would be the icing on my gaming cake.
Great show as always, pre-ordered Space Hulk, looking forward to it arriving as I missed out last time. The Battle Systems terrain look awesome.
I really love that Battle system but once again it came when I didn’t have the resources 🙁
If you wanted to make sewers more realistic you need to add “those little touches” that other sets don’t have. I mean what are sewers for if not to move “stuff” from one place to another. Some people in the KS tried to bribe Colin to add certain features, others came up with their own ideas. Inspired by the way flake crumbles melt on your skin I had my own thoughts.. communicated in the spirit of the Battlesystems kickstarter by means of a little ditty
There was a young backer called Jake,
Who tried to bribe Colin with cake,
Then he sang him a song,
But the words were all wrong
Now he embellishes his sewers with flake.
I’m pretty excited about Space Hulk as I wasn’t into miniature gaming back in 2009, already got my copy ordered. Missed the Sci-Fi Kickstarter from Battle Systems, excited for the Fantasy. Good show today, can’t wait for tomorrow.
Battle Systems are awesome. I hear the terrain has their blood in all the red ink? 😀
Great Video Guys!
I’m already a supporter of the Battle Systems Fantasy kickstarter and completely loving everything on offer with (I’m getting 2). Would love to see some fantasy exterior designs. eg. Village, Castle, Farms, Wilderness(don’t know how that would work).
I will be getting the Sci-Fi Battle System as soon as its on sale.
Gamesworkshop need to release this Spacehulk update as an expansion for those of us with the 2009 version! As well as add official Rules and figures for extra players!
I wasn’t planning on buying the new Space Hulk release, but I suddenly have a lot of friends who like board games, and I think this will be a great addition to our collective collection. And I had enough PayPal credit that I only had to pay the sales tax, so that helped.
A really great kickstarter box with Sci-fi scenery i would like to put my hands on 😀
Love BattleSystems terrain. They do an amazing job. What about a haunted house/horror/victorian/gothic set. Mad scientist lab, torture chamber, dining hall, kitchen, Master’s bed room, grand entry way, candle lit corridors with red runner carpets and horrible paintings on the walls, Lots of potential there. could mix well with the fantasy dungeon terrain.
Great stuff! I’d like to see a set for Modern Cities that you could use in Super Hero, Aliens Invading, Crime, and Pulp games.
Gotta get me some of that terrain. Would love to get that sci-fi set
On the GW front I don’t think the dedicated stores are a great use of their resources. I think that GW should really start to work with the independent stores instead of against them. How about instead of one man stores you have that guy travel to different Indie stores. Instead of having all of the overhead of a brick and mortar store, they can leverage indie stores while supporting the community. In my part of the US if I want to go to a GW store I have to travel over 3 hrs to New York City, but there are at least 6 indie stores with an hour. Dedicated stores seem to be an unnecessary drain on resources duplicating a supply chain that already exist.
scifi for necromunda, fantasy for malifaux.
I keep bouncing back and forth on this, but to be honest I think I’ll hold off on Space Hulk. I kind of signed off buying any of their stuff a year or so ago due mostly to business practices, and this isn’t enough of a turnaround to get me back. I missed the first Space Hulk, and between the models I already have (both ‘nids and Deathwing, hilariously) and being a graphic designer who can make the ’tiles’ myself, I just don’t see the pull for $150. It’s sad, because it’s arguably one of their best (and more atmospheric) games, but…
you give the best stiff away
Great dungeon terrain, those little books just make it all the more fantastic to me. Sounds like Battle Systems really care about their products. Kudos to them.
Fantastic show as always guys, terrain side of things I would love to see an alien landscape set to compliment the sci fi terrain. I think that would through up some real challenges for Battle Systems (organic shapes etc) however I think it would bring some great opportunities to have the 2 systems used together.
That scifi terrain is so cool
I’m so mad at myself for missing the Si-Fi Battle System set on Kickstarter. I have no idea how I missed it, but I did 🙁
I backed the sci-fi battle systems KS, have the stuff and love it. Going in for some fantasy stuff on the currently running kickstarter too – highly recommend it.
Looks realy good and still didant manage to get a copy of spacehulk 🙁 I hope my local gets some in stock
Thanks, that was interesting.
I think this better length for a show.
Though I kinda missed the point about On the table…. So, I will be getting email about it automatically or what?
on this ape monkey thing its very simple
humans are apes, and apes are monkeys. therefore we are all monkeys.
But that battle systems terrain is looking sexy.
The sci-fi set is sitting on my table now and it is absolutely amazing! It’s Lego for wargamers, and more. This is going to combine very well with the contents from the Infinity Operation Icestorm set once I’ve played it a couple of times. I so much want their fantasy terrain as well to play Malifaux on and am seriously contemplating to get some guys at the office in for a little Mordheim campaign. If I only manage to massage my overextended gaming budget to include it.
The guys from Battlesystems should be writing a book on how to run a perfect KS. This is what it’s all about: work with your backers (investors and customers) and further develop the product to cater for their wishes as much as possible, whilst staying true to your original creative vision.
The quality of their Sci-fi terrain is fantastic and with that wealth of experience gained, their fantasy terrain will be better still. I’d recommend everyone with the slightest doubt to chuck it out of the window and go all in. You won’t regret it at all.
I have just preordered space hulk as I never got the chance to play it. I would love to see battle systems creat a space hulk type of set would work with AVP and all sorts! The next kickstarter maybe? Please……
Battle systems steampunk terrain please! 🙂
The terrain sets of Battle Systems are the most epic things in our beloved industry this year! The sci-fi version is so amazing, and the fantasy version is a dream come true for me! 🙂
I’m going to have both of them!
A steampunk version in the future could be also awesome!
Aaa ah missed space hulk.
Just have to wait for AvP to arrive
Will it be Christmas early for me? Would love some of that terrain for the many Mantic games I enjoy these days (Deadzone, Dwarf Kings Hold, Dreadball Extreme?)! Good show guys!!
Battle systems looks fantastic – mordheim here we come. Space hulk has always been a fave of mine. I hope this will become a permanent fixture – it would be a great gateway game for 40k.
For me this was the most relevant weekender for a while.
Thank you BOW.
I’d be over the moon if they released any expansions to Space Hulk. All GW really need to do is print some extra rules in White Dwarf for using the other races… like the good old days!
The question is Games Workshop, can I justify another 70 quid for a few extra templates? Why am I tempted so easily!! 😉 Cant wait for AvP by Prodos and it looks like Battlesystems cant either! Both sets should fit well.
I managed to get the 3rd edition Space Hulk and loved replaying a game I hadn’t played for a long time. I am disappointed that GW didn’t take the opportunity to release a new version of it that was accessible for both new and old players, perhaps maybe see the Deathwing as the main Marine characters with a new enemy and scenarios. I’d like to see a bit more support for it though, although I doubt that might happen. I will still enjoy playing it……in fact I might just go and break out the box for a game today
I want a light well/court yard for my dungeon. A bit of growth inside a dungeon/cough castle.
I can’t wait until it arrives. I’m going to do an infinity scenario set in the vatican catacombs or the church of the holy sepulchre.
Very interesting terrain. It has tempted me but I’m concerned about it’s durability. Does anyone know if it’s robust enough for club use (basically getting used by people who might not take of it very well)?
Argh! Please may the gaming gods honour me with a Sci Fi pack!
But on a more serious note, a friend of mine who works for GW, particularly in the logistics department, informed me that 5000 copies of Space Hulk were trapped in Spanish customs until very recently, which may explain the sudden reappearance of the box set.
It also seems like this run has sold out exceedingly quickly, which does make me think…
Strange story aidhe, but might be true…
As far as I’m concerned, re-releasing Space Hulk is a rather odd move. There’s not enough new stuff to make old players like me buy it, and it’s way too expensive for new players – especially without the nostalgia factor.
But then again, that can be said for most of what Games Workshop releases these days…
The sci-fi terrain would be awsome to win!
Just a few ideas for Colin to consider for the excellent Fantasy Dungeon Terrain.
How about a giant spiders web piece that could slot into a doorway to block/hinder/access.
A bottomless pit tile piece that could have trapdoor printed on the reverse side, or the trapdoor could be used as a secret door to lead to another level of the dungeon specifically the sewer set that you have already funded!.
A spiked pit trap tile piece to block access through a narrow corridor again reverse printed with a snake pit for variety.
A wall section with large mirror that could represent a secret door/portal to a hidden room beyond.
Great show guys and hope Colin/Battle Systems have another massive kickstarter.
That is amazing set of scenery, both the sci-fi one and the fantasy one. Now they need to do a Victorian/Streampunk set
That sci fi battle set is amazing
that battle systems kit is fantastic!
would love to see futuristic alien ship like the halo covenant with glowing energy walkways and odd shaped doors
Another great show guys.
Wish I could have jumped into the first battle systems KS but couldn’t.
Here is hoping I have a chance to win that amazing box of sci-fi goodness!
I can see me ordering the sci-fi set for Infinity but I’m not sure what I’d use dungeon for. Both look great though.
Would love a chance at winning some Sci Fi terrain!
That’s a pretty amazing set! And Space Hulk!!!!
Thanks for another great show. It sure helped. Loving the terrain looks like another KS for us. Have Justin send some protons my way.
The Battlesystems terrain is so very cool!
These tiles look awesome. Not interested in buying Space Hulk again though…
I must admit at first I was not thrilled with the whole punch-out terrain but the look and scope of it makes it pretty cold
I’ve got a couple sets of the Battle Systems Sci-fi terrain on its way, but I wanted to order so much more. So yeah, put me down for a chance to win a Stronghold set!
I’m pledged and really looking forward to the Fantasy Kickstarter set as well.
As for what areas/genres of terrain I’d like to see the great guys at Battle Systems take a whack at?
How about:
1. Outdoor terrain – start general for multi-genre use, then go into some stretch goals for add-ons to supplement the Sci-fi & Fantasy sets that will already be in production. I see standing stone circles, hedge-row mazes, cliffs and ravines, river/stream/pond areas, beach front property, wells and sinkholes, smaller outbuilding walls, and despite some opinions to the contrary, I still think these guys could make a valiant effort at a tree line and shrubbery terrain elements that would then be easy to assemble and disassemble for storing.
2. I’d like to see a meaty wharf/port/ship terrain set on water mats. I could see being able to build ship top decks next to each other, or to the docks, or even out at open sea with some giant Cthulhu-esque beast (or the actual Cthulhu) attacking it!
3. I play a LOT of supers/modern horror games (RPG and minis)…how about some Modern indoor &/or Outdoor terrain? Office buildings, banks, military & secret bases/hideouts, roof tops with water towers and fire escapes, universities, cemeteries,…and scariest local of all…the Suburbs!
Really, I think Battle Systems can pull off all of the above and more!
Great being a part of their projects.
=)
-Chris
This looks so cool. I want it : D
The Battle Systems 3D terrain looks great. How about some WW2 ETO and PTO stuff. The sky really is the limit with this stuff as their are so many skirmish systems out their. Many Companies make buildings in 25/28mm but not furnishings.
Also Dark ages for SAGA, a viking hall or settlement.
AWI or french and indian war, log forts, log cabins
could ships be done in this material? Viking long Boats Affordable 28mm Pirate ships
Really like the scify stuff.
Loved this terrain! Now I have loads of new game ideas to play out around this set! Thanks for the opportunity to win! We had the ideas of caverns, and a nature terrain. Great show as always!!!
Currently backing the fantasy kickstarter but missed out on the sci-fi, gutted, looks like an awesome product and will finally be able to create my dream dungeon.
Battle systems steampunk set would be sweet.
So great that there is so much quality terrain available these days.
Incredible how that part of the industry has grown in the past decade or so.
Love the idea of a Castle layout for Battle Systems!
Like wow! The terrain is absolutely awesome. I must admit that I was not so convinced until I saw it in the show. It’s beautiful. The show was fantastic as usual and I liked the topic about tweaking up Space Hulk with expansions. Sadly, I doubt GW will try to add expansions to it.
Great episode, so now i will go to XLBS, jujuju
Oh weekender, the terrain is fabulas and would look fantastic on my wargames table! :0)
Came across this site due to a link from Colin. I’m already backing the guys from Battle Systems for the dungeon but I just wish I knew about the Sci-Fi kickstarter! Funny about space Hulk too as I was thinking about playing it the other day!
Battlesystems sci figures terrain would really add to the aesthetic for any game of Space Hulk. I have my own sets (yet to be constructed) and intend to make 3D versions of the Sedition Wars boArds. Well done Battlesystems and I hope they continue to produce such great terrain. They handled their sci figures kick starter really well with excellent communication. And a great finished product. Now I may consider getting Space Hulk and playing with a Battlesystem board.
Old plastic rain gutter turn on its side makes for good walls when painted right
also you should sell the deep space assault consule
Would love to get a hand on the sci set for my 40k campaign i am running with my buddies
Well, that was my first Weekender and i must say, i loved it! I’ll be back next week for sure.
I love the Battle Systems KS and i backed the Sci-Fi one and i love it and after seeing it on the BOW table, i think i’m gonna fail my saving throw and jump in the Fantasy one! Speeking of the fantasy one: giant mushrooms, stalagmites for some sort of cave tile…
Cya next week.
Couldn’t resist picking up my first copy of Space Hulk after the glowing review… now that I’ve seen the Battle Systems fantasy terrain and gone back to see the scifi terrain, I’ll definitely be keeping a look out for it when/if it goes on sale to pair it with the new terminators and tyranids.
Cardboard Ankh-Morpork. Do it. Do it, do it,do it, do it, do it, do it, do it.
I love the terrain set, my roommate got a big box from the kickstarter and spent weeks building their stuff, just to realize he is allergic to the glue he used to harden the edges.
I helped him a tiny bit and had been impressed by the quality of their product.
The kits look really awesome wish I could get the money for the KS! I would like to see a town setting steam punk/Victorian setting
Battle systems looks good, I am intrigued. Another great video chaps.
oohh nice and shiny, I’ll have one of those, make 4
Another great episode as always!
Want this set bad!
I recently got my KS battlesystems sci fi set in, and it is really great!
What I find most attractive besides the immediate quality of the pieces is the incredible attention to detail and flexibility! Lost of parts are reversible with both whole and damaged sides, Letting one build most anything scifi, from Space Hulk / DOOM style corridors to starship and space station interiors, and also recreate all those scenes you know:
with the bunker “outside” walls, this set will make an excellent part of a larger battlefield featuring defense and base assault, (rebels need to set those charges and blow up the shield generator!)
can’t wait to get my Aliens vs Predator KS in, then we are building the hangar bay of the Sulaco and having a power loader vs alien queen deathmatch!
and so on and so forth,
Only thing I would like to see is a matching sci-fi floor-mat (such as is made for the fantasy KS) instead of the cardboard floorboards. Heres hoping they make some.
Some damn fine scifi terrain
Currently backing for the dungeon terrain. Perhaps I can get my scifi stuff from here? 😉
Me wants it… 😛 awsome show guys!!
As always awsome! My idea for terrain is a set of old concrete WWII bunker corridors, little bit post-apoc and little bit historical. It would be great for several modern+ systems. Elevators, gun posts, barracks, secret labs etc. Cheers!
Hi,
I am enjoying your shows and it is becoming a great source of information for me. The terrain from Battle Systems looks absolutely fabulous and It great to see a success story like theirs, hopefully they grow in strength as a company which could benefit all gamers tremendously. My only comment is that I hope they remain focused on designing their terrain and do not deviate into possibly designing their own game as there are so many companies already focused on games but not many companies doing what they are. I am sure they have been “bombarded” with ideas for all sorts of terrain to enhance all sorts of games and I am looking forward to see where they could go next.
Good show, again!
And thanks for the mention, that the new Warhammer Fantasy developments will be covered. I already feared, that fantasy topics would’nt be covered anymore.
Undecided about space hulk. I haven’t played it since first edition!
Free Sci-Fi terrain set? YES.
As for what I would like…Sci-Fi/Fantasy town set…Ships of void and water.
Justin – the buildmonkey…? That would make a nice mini.
Awesome terrain – an absolute musthave.
Nice thing about watching these shows during the week is that I already know how my weekend of gaming was. I played Dead of Winter with three friends yesterday and it was awesome. So awesome in fact that we played two games in one day. The first game was very foused on killing zombies because of the mission objective. The second game turned completely the other way with everyone scrambling for resources before the timer ran out. The longterm and shortterm objectives play very well together. The board and cardboard characters look great. And despite the amount of cards it’s easy to manage and doesn’t take too long to finish.
The Space Hulk reprint sounds in equal parts interesting and odd. If I had plenty of money to spend I wouldn’t think twice about getting it. But since I have to pick and choose what to invest my money and time in I’m more reluctant to buy a (maybe) limited edition game.
Great to know that the BattleZone challenge is extended. I better start building soon. Next stop after this is to have a look at the forum post.
It also sounded like the Carnevale guys are very fond of manipulator/control style characters. I surely notice a theme among the winners. They all sound great and I would love to see them brought to life.
I have to admit, my first love is classic, scratch-built, handmade terrain. But holy smoke! This is lovely! If I had the surplus cash I would back this in a second. It’s perfect for Necromunda or Mordheim or any other terrain based wargame.
An idea for a future edition might be a more dwarven themed fantasy setting, very Khazad-Dum like from Fellowship of the Ring. The mechanic seems to be perfect for flying buttresses and walkways and bridges. Absolutely beautiful. Great job, Colin and crew!
I would love to check out one of these sets.
That kit needs a game specifically designed for it.
wow these look great. Would also be great to not just make a gaming environment and also make things such as buildings, etc, that you can put in a game of, say warmachine
cool
That battle systems Sci-fi stuff is just fantastic……I’m sodding now to have missed the Kickstarter….if you have a spare set laying around….I’m your man!
Thumbs up for another great show.
I love the look of the fantasy set. Will make a fine scene for The hobbit.
G’day guys, jolly good show (as always). Quick question – i’m just going through the process of setting up a paypal account so i can finally commit to backstage, is there still a free 7-day trial?
Cheers.
If the Carnevale compitition is still, how about the Ghost of Professor Guido de Lucca, come back to find the shard and return it to Africa – using anyone who is working towards find the shard…
or a burning man (as in lava) from the new island in the Med, come shore on some wreckage from the latest attempt to land there and is stranded in Venice –
A friend of mine loves his scifi scenery. Id like to see underwater habs and walkways or think forests with glades and tunnels of hedges and knarled trees.
Great show, The terrain looks awesome.
I was very tempted by the SF set, and now I’m very tempted by this…
Would be nice to see future themed expansions so that you can build on bits you like. So instead of a mine ‘room’, you can have an entire mine themed dungeon. Instead of a throne room, you can have a palace, etc.
A steam punk / SF laboratory would make a great set too.
Be nice to see these sets go to retail.
This, right here. This would be my hand up for that set of terrain.
What I would like to see myself though would be a medieval town/village. Stone and wattle and daub or wood and wattle and daub construction. Homes, wizard tower, inn, blacksmith, etc.
Warren – and anyone else for that matter – what games would you consider as being good or better alternatives to Space Hulk and what’s better about them?
Another great episode guys
Great show, very nice terrain, would lofe to see the Inside of a DWARF HOLD, So Big anvils, large high rooms with pillars, GEARS , brewery, troonroom etc.
I’m honestly surprised that Games Workshop didn’t include some sort of dataslate that included official 40k datasheets for the Blood Angels and Tyranids in Space Hulk and maybe a couple of formations. That would have been really cool, or maybe even do it as a separate digital product so the owners of the 2009 edition (like myself) can join in the fun as well.
I’ve never played space hulk, but I have never heard anything bad about it. It always comes off as beloved by everyone.
And the battle systems terrain is so awesome
…loving it…how about a bunkerish kind of thing for ww2 players….or if u use the scifi stuff as ur HQ on the Battlefield, how about an “entrance” to connect this “station” with a 40k battlefield….
…than u could fight ur way in, and…..send a request for reeinforcements to your battleship etc..
These terrain pieces really fire my imagination for narrative gaming.
regards
I’ve been eyeballing that Battle Systems terrain for a bit now. Perhaps its time to take the plunge.
I really like the sci-f terrain,is really detailed
Awesome i am going to buy the deep space edition. love it
Love that terrain, great piece to play on
Just got my space hulk from GW today so could not play it over the weekend which is a shame but I just opened it and noticed they included a A3 art print of the front cover as a thank you for ordering. Not to bad.
love it! So many great KS at the moment… but not enough money 🙁
another old episode? why not give us hobby lab or Dungeon Saga or something new ?
@orku They’ve explained that they didn’t have time to make new content for this weekend, because they’ve been rearranging the studios.
Nice system, so many components. I can’t believe I missed the kickstarter 🙁
@sylvan They are doing the modern/post apocalyptical now, see the top banner
Absolutely stunning set of terrain, I’d love to play a game of infinity on one of these.
Love the sci-fi and dungeon terrain. Would save me a lot of time either way.
Wow…took me a while to figure out that this was an old episode! Especially since the dates on the original comments are from the same month, just one year earlier.
What a major sense of deja vu I got from watching this. 🙂
Too cool!
