Looks like a little case of insomnia pays off. Nothing like a little backstage at 1 in the morning.
I love content on a sunday. As a family man i try to sqeeuze the weekender and the xlbs in somewhere. Spreading it out makes it easier for me to do this. Love the show by the way.
Inheritance – Contact with Chapters or Worlds that are willing to join
Sort of an extreme reformation: White washing (laser blasting) and destroying iconography and relics. The burning and execution of Librarians and Chaplins.
This could lead to the set up of an Inheritor’s Inquisition to hunt down the remaining heretics. Could also be played as a skirmish game like Necromunda or Deadzone. I’ve not played Inquisitor but I assume that would work.
Submitting before my computer dies again
Another great show!
@stu i can remember the section of the story you mean, but not which book. Similarly though the Horus heresy book called Outcast Dead had one of the proto-marines from the unification wars in it, and there was a bit of exploration as to the fact they all died in the Unification Wars and that the Emporer no longer required them. He almost seemed to make sure they all died, then created the not as powerful but more stable and longer lived Space Marines for the start of the Great Crusade. It came across to me that the guy felt betrayed by the Emporer.
I’d love to see a Ghostbusters board game! Kickstarter anyone?
I prefer the xlbs on the Sunday. I always find it a struggle to watch both on a Saturday due to family commitments. I know I could leave one till the Sunday but I can’t help but watch them.
I’ve been looking for reaper paints for some time but don’t know where to buy them.
Sunday is perfect for the xlbs.
A lot if marines might side with the inheritors if they could believe them not to be traitors to the emperor. A large amount of chapters do not worship the emperor he is revered but only as the father not as a god.
hey there great show. One little question. you talked about the inheritors not having Space Marines because they were not technically human and the inheritance force as learned not to accept anything that wasn’t “pure” human . But Primachs are the the very origins of Space Marines, like super Space Marines. So why would a force who have learned to reject Space Marines willing follow the one of the ultimate Space Marines, especially since they do not have any of the superstitions they would been seen as gods. I think it could make more sense that there still been a Space Marine type force, different but still very elite. Maybe praised by the inheritors for willingly sacrificing their pure humanity for the good of the human race. And, as you say, after all is done the elite Space Marine like force can lay down their arms, either by willingly dying or possibly putting themselves into self exile and leaving galaxy forever.
Just a idea i had while watching
This sounds right. They should see themselves as protectors of pure humanity but outside of it.
I like the spread of programs over the course of the week, including XLBS on Sunday.
Games: how about something based on Battle of the Planets, loved that as a kid!
I useally watch it on sundays anyway
the inheritors could also be placed in stasis at the end of it all. just to be ready for the next threat to utopia
I could see a big story based campaign going on with the Inquisition trying to take out the heretics. Could be really fun!
Good show again guys. Look forward to next weekend.
Back in 80ties there was ZX spectrum Ghostbusters game I used to play as a kid. There was – lets call it – strategic phase, where you would drive ghostbusters car around the city and take on some simple missions. I m not sure but I guess you could pick one of three different type of cars and customize it with several types of equipment. Then there was “tactical” phase where you actually tried to catch some ghosts. I think such approach would work also for table game. Strategic phase could be more like board / card game, while tactical phase would perfectly work as a skirmish game.
2000AD would be my Ghostbusters/Star Wars. Being exposed to the likes of Pat Mills, Alan Moore, and Grant Morrison back in the mid-80’s had a massive impact on me.
As a non-40K player, if Inheritence is going to start getting weekly coverage I’d prefer it if it had its own show.
No strong preference either way on Saturday or Sunday for XLBS.
The Emporer was very powerful psyker. I get the feeling all the Primarchs are also very attuned/ psykic in some way. They must know this. The Primarchs would realise controlled magic was essential to mans survival but should not be given free reign in the empire. They would treat magic as a science but NOT as a religion. This is very different to having zero tolerance to psykers.
You’ve go to ask the question “is the world ready for copper coloured ghosts ?”
Xlbs on a Sunday is fine with me , I quite often watch it Sundays.
Glad to hear there are a lot more backstagers now.
Sunday makes sense for me, breaks it up a bit.
I quite like the Sunday xlbs , spreads the content out nicely.
And for the various mentiones, you can get reaper stuff in the UK from http://miniature-heroes.co.uk/
Prefer the XLBS on a Sunday, good call. Well done with the added Backstagers also, onwards and upwards lads.
sunday is excellent day for XLBS, cos it takes my mind out of monday work.
Another +1 for the move to Sunday. I often waste so much of Saturday hitting f5 on your site waiting for XLBS 🙂
Sunday great day for XLBS, Ghost busters would be fun if done right as some one else said 2000 AD has a lot of cool stuff that could make great games.
I love the fact that we will be getting 2 painting vids on a Tuesday though my wife nearly choked to death when I told her Romain was painting a purple worm and it was even worse when she heard some of the comments Romain made about the worm.( She has a strange sense of humour at times)
quite like the idea of a Sunday show breaks the weekend up
Thanks a lot Warren for showing us your Space Marines. They look cool, standing in front of you guys. Is there any chance to see some close ups?
For me – Sunday morning normally starts with watching the weekender – so there will be no difference if you split it to Saturday-weekender and Sunday-weekender xlbs. 😉
Being a great fan of WARMACHINE and HORDES, it is just fun to see and hear other players out there having the same amount of fun. And remember painting minis is always good, getting extra points does it even make better.
Good to see you on a Sunday guys
good stuff!
just out of curiosity, are you guys going to have a chat about the chapterhouse vs gw case? ive asked a few times so I guess the answer is no, but its pretty news worthy I reckon
I’d like to, but I think it would be better aired as part of a larger conversation.
Liking XLBS on a Sunday, something other than Top Gear to look forward to now!
I nearly always watch the show out of context, so Sunday shows are good for me too. 😀
I agree with Justin; purity seals would revert to Oaths of Moment.
Chaplains could just become Custodians of the Chapters History and Traditions.
The Primarchs were created to be the Emperors’ generals to lead his armies. The Emperor made armies of Space Marines for each Primarch and used them to find the Primarchs in his Great Crusade.
In the case of Inheritance, the lost Primarchs haven’t been given space marines who found them with the Emperor or they did and used them until there were no more marines left?
The Primarchs themselves aren’t human, not wholly, so why would they be against the idea of space marines? The Primarchs don’t even have a mother; whereas all the marines do, which makes them more human than the Primarchs.
If all the wars were won, the purpose of the space marines would be like any army; to be ready for defending the people. They would need their strength to defeat Chaos and other Xenos. Maybe they could engineer better guardians than the marines, or machines that could do the work of humans instead.
Yeeees, a Ghostbusters! I feel the same about that film too, I could watch it anytime. And I loved the cartoon of it too (I even had the proton pack, ghost trap and Ray’s goggles, lol!). A game would be awesome! Ecto 1, Fire Station; all that stuff would be wicked to have in a game. Have you played the recent video game of it? That was really good; written by Dan Ackroyd too and with voices from the movie. Even that bad guy Walter Peck was in it. 🙂
I think postng XLBS on a Sunday is quite good as it give me something to watch on both Saturday and Sunday.
Does inheritor Armour sound like Enforcer Armour from the other company? or is this heresy.
Nice to have something for Sunday. I think bound Psykers or limited use would be nice because what would the inheritors say of the astronomicon? What if the have the cure for Robute Guilliman?
Sunday looks like a great slot, but I feel there is an opportunity missed if you record it right after the proper weekender maybe record it a few hours later and incorporate chat from the weekender in it.
Love the xlbs. Look forward to next weekend.
XLBS on a sunday seems right – but I do miss watching it with my sunday breakfast here in the future land of Australia =)
I’m not the least bit interested in 40K but I do love XLBS just for you guys laughing it up!
that ghostbusters game would be pretty sweet
sundays are fine, I usually never watched both in a row anyway
nice backstage content guys. Stu have you ever played transformers risk? think i have a pdf some were of paper minis for ghost-busters rpg. i would absolutely love to see a miniatures game set in frank Herbert’s dune. it would be amazing. fremen warriors riding down the table top on the backs of giant sand worms.
I usually watch both on Sunday anyway 🙂
Sunday show is fine by me.
I was a bit negative on *more* skirmish games based on IPs. However a ghost busters boardgame sounds awesome!
Sundays works great, greater if I win the Prize…. hehehe
Keep on the good work
The biggest thing I don’t agree with so far with Inheritance is how you look at dealing with psykers. Psykers would not be outlawed as even the Emperor saw it as the next stage of human evolution but he felt the people of the 30K universe were not ready for the transition. He even built a machine capable of transitioning normal people into Psykers! (though this was destroyed.) He felt that just like Astropaths and Navigators they needed to be regulated by the Imperial Administratum. Though he did outlaw them for a while due to Magnus starting to practise sorcery which was completely outlawed.
Chaplains were originally created to essentially be Military Police. They were to uphold the Imperial Truth and ensure that all Laws and Dictates were properly upheld, but eventually were corrupted by the Imperial Creed.
Also it wouldn’t make much sense for there to be no Space Marines with 2 Primarchs leading the Inheriters. Though having less of them makes sense as there would be less of a chance to resupply geneseed. Unless they actually took supplies of geneseed with them on their mission they would only be able to maintain their levels by harvesting from their own battle brothers. And ever time they were unabel to recover that seed would be one less brother that could be reborn to fight again. So I’d probally put a restriction on the amount of space marine units you could take, or make their marines elite/heavy choices to reflect their status and leave the core choices as something more guardsmanie.
Just my 2 cents. I got backstager access primarily for Inheritance so keep up the good work.
Just an interesting aside.
Would they necessarily be “imperial”?
Remember, when they left the imperial truth was the “religion” of the Emperor. And his veneration as a god, a blasphemy that even the primarchs were punished for (ie Lorgar).
Now that the Emperor is nothing but an object to be revered, are these Primarchs going to sit down and take orders from the degenerate superstitious imperial administrators? In which case they are pretty quickly going to be branded “heretics” and “cast out”. I mean, the tyrant of badab was, when all’s said and done, a result of him deciding that the badab system was paying lots of tithes and not getting any assistance from the imperium.
Loving the weekender on two seperate days, means I can watch them without being shouted at
sunday is a good slot of XLBS
The Sunday slot is great something to look forward too and on the plus side I won a prize thanks BOW team well chuffed
Painting prize FTW. Especially whilst I’m on my gaming sulk!
Just popped my Backstage cherry…
I really like your point about “one man’s daemon”.
To me, 40K has slowly moved away from the old shades-of-grey universe to a simplified good-vs-evil universe. Which is a crying shame…
Great things! Well done lads.
A note on the Emperor’s foresight.
The Emperor did not foresee the Heresy and was entirely blindsided by the betrayal of his favorite son. Indeed, in some of the old fluff, the Emperor was standing indecisive in his throne room, stunned by the fact that he failed to foresee the Heresy and that he could no longer see the future.
I’d love to see a Jurrasic Park miniatures game. Maybe in a similar vein to Space Hulk, with each player taking the turn of the dinosaurs and survivors, then swapping. Being able to paint dinosaurs and jeeps as well as characters would be awesomesauce.
Sunday is fine with me. Another good video. Warren always a pleasure to listen to!
I bet ghostbusters could be modelled using 7tv
Sunday’s no problem for me. As I’m generally out on a Saturday, I’m usually a day behind anyway 🙂
Great job you did on Inheritance …
And do the Ghostbuster game, I loved the idea … It’s just great … 😀
Would be interested to try reaper paints – recently gotten a few Vallejo colours and enjoying the nature of their stuff too 🙂
Agree, sunday is perfect .. day before work day cant get too much bow 🙂
Amazing show guys. And moving to Sunday is great in my eyes, as I work every Saturday so usually get to XLBS late in the week.
Seriously can’t wait for the light pigment article. Really wanna try that out on my tau.
Inheritance looks like its going really well. A mate and I trailed the quantum load and found it a very tactical mechanic. We did get a little confused as to on turn 5 “how can you borrow from a turn we don’t know is coming?” We got past it really quickly but you guys are right about it making markerlights wired (I played Tau and my mate plays Imperial Guard)
As for your final question on games…
Firefly would be amazing, Defiance (new syfy show) would be cool, re-enacting the pale wars and the battles of 8 races.
Stu’s Pasific Rim idea though sounds AMAZING. Feels like it would work great as an RPG. you build your Jaigar, arm it etc. as you battle you have to repair battle damage, replace crew, rearm. It seems like it would lend itself to a console game very nicely but a minis game would be so much fun too.
Sunday is good (although as at was at Goodwood FoS I am watching on Tuesday)!
Free paints – yes please can practice my wet blending
Make HItchhikers Guide to the Galaxy into an RPG, that is one Kickstarter that I’d back. Who wouldn’t want to play as Marvin the paranoid android….meet the meat anyone!
Sunday works just fine for me, and I am really excited by the idea of daily content from you guys. My #1 source for wargaming, right here.
Hi guys, Im newish to the game (40k), after being tempted for over 10 years. Your site has been amazingly helpful and I love the Inheritance idea’s.
In the process of building my Blood Angels army.
But most of all, I want the Ghostbusters game too, we need to get working on this idea we’ll make a fortune 😛
I like new content everyday
Great stuff
who cares , saturday , sunday as long as you get the bloody content out , we DONT care !
as to Inheritance , I would prefer it to have its own show, that way I can avoid it like the plague…
