Great show guys, thanks for all the coverage.
Oh and a big thanks to Dave for putting those reprobates up and making all that coverage possible.
You guys are in the know so am I correct in thinking that next years Salute will be on the 25th April?
Your welcome 😉
On the mapping – why not find out who did the Geek & Sundry International Tabletop day mapping.
That would be my first suggestion as well, to find someone that has already solved the problem. And it is great that G&SITD uses Google Maps.
The other group of people that have solved the location issue are each country’s Post Office.
I’m guessing most countries will have some form of Post or Zip Code.
Hi Warren, I’d be up for helping you guys out. I’ve done some presenting work in the past but I’ll do whatever (with-in reason)
I could bash out some scrawl on the historicals, though I’m not an expert on futuristic sci-fi stuff like Napoleonics and the world wars.
Salute volunteer here, photo/presenter/gofer unless I’m doing another charity thing 😉 I’ll catch up with you by PM @warzan 🙂
As soon as you guys left that morning, I went straight to work, what a knackering weekend lol.
Obviously the BOW Roadie (me) is volunteering again.
Happy Easter guys
Alas I couldn’t be there for the round up chat but much thanks to Dave for putting us up! At least you didn’t have to deal with my earth shatteringly loud snoring that Saturday night 😉
BoW Ben
Hope the chaise wasn’t to uncomfortable!
Haha, was perfectly awesome Dave!
Great video guys. I do like those malifaux hired swords, a great box set.
I wish I could offer to help, photography is a hobby of mine, but work and family mean I couldn’t guarantee being there.
Sunday Morning: check. Weekender XLBS: check. Easter Egg: check!
I will put myself forward for writing jobs on Historical or Steampunk/Weird; t’would be an honour! 🙂
Please please please! Someone technically minded. Can someone help me with the XLBS videos. I literally cannot watch more than 15 minutes of video before the player crashes and green screens. Then I have to reload the entire thing and try to get back to the previous spot! Can anyone give me any advice of how I can’t prevent this or at least make it less frequent!
Great vid so far though guys! 50 minutes in, but I have been trying to watch it for 2 hours now. 🙁
Lotan2012 can you expand a little here? what browser and OS, is it tablet, iphone , PC or Mac
Is your flash player upto date anything else running in the background
and the all fixing have you turned it off and on again 🙂
Cheers Soldado, should have expanded a bit.
Windows 7 version 6.1.
Firefox all up to date.
PC.
Falsh player all up to date.
Nothing but firefox open, only the BoW page open.
Tried turning it off and on again, but this happens to me pretty much every week, apart from the last XLBS for some reason.
It’s just getting really frustrating now!

What a tremendous resource the gaming atlas will be. I’m pretty sure there is nothing out there, that will be that comprehensive.
I agree with Warren as the 4 ground stand was probably the best part of the show for me as well. Looking at their displays just conjured up so many gaming possibilities in my mind it was almost overwhelming.
I also happened to be there when the team were filming, so I tagged on for the guided tour of the displays, the chap from 4G was great. I can’t wait to see the footage.
I’d love to get involved and help you guys out at Salute as I go every year it would be rude not to offer. Trouble is, I’m not sure how. I’m no photographer and I’ve never written an article.
great vid, but why is it in NO HIGH RESULUTION, the HD picture in youtube is muts better then flashieplayer HD ?
John has a real Sherman? Okay, he really is the “Tank God.”
John says: “Hey guys. I’m trying out a new scale for my tank playing pieces. It’s kinda tough to work with, but rewarding.”
Warren: “Sounds great. What scale is it?”
John: “Eh … 1-1.”
🙂
Dawn and I would be happy to help out with next year’s Salute. We were looking for a reason to plan a trip overseas. I sent you and Lloyd a PM. Great show as always.
Hey Guys
Always love your coverage of Salute, somewhere that so far I’ve been unable to attend myself.
As for volunteering to help out, there’s a few areas I think I would be useful, firstly is photography, huge passion of mine, not sure if you want photos of people, models, tables or a combination but ill email you guys some of my work.
Secondly as a writer (sci-fi) I’m planning on writing up and producing some battle reports and things with my friends but at the moment I’m just planning things so unfortunately no examples of that just yet.
Finally, I would love he chance to be a presenter. I’ve been a presenter on the local Hospital Radio service for quite a number of years now, and my shows have always been well received. I’m good with people and open minded. I’m also not phased by speaking with some of the ‘Big-Wigs’ of the industry, over the years I’ve interviewed a few celebrities including Frank Bruno and Ainsley Harriot.
Oh, forgot to mention that I’m also part of the Chilling Wargamers (Roll Models) and im sure the rest of the team would love to help out too.
I hope I can be up for consideration, it would be a huge opportunity. id best get to sending over those photos for you to take a look at.
Cheers
Ryan
Thanks a lot to the guy who gave me the other Blood Bowl board, I think your name was Simon. I am sorry I got your name and handle wrong in the show, but as Warren says, my attention span really is abisSQUIRREL!
Great show guys, I’m hoping you got a chat with the guys on the Warploque stand as I forgot to visit it myself. Can’t wait till next years show! 🙂
For the gaming atlas maybe you should have states/province/local-equivalent and them add a radial bubble of space center from where you are or any specific point, because Googlemaps has gps coordinates for every single point and the code for getting all the places that are inside that bubble is pretty easy ( i can send you a code example in javascript if you want ), them you can expand the bubble or make it small depending on how far are you willing to go or time available you have for traveling ( google also computes that for us, both for cars, bus and on foot ).
As always happy to help out how I can, think the Mrs kind of fancies coming along to see what Salute is all about anyway.
I might help with photo etc on next year salute, if i can get date on next year Salute so i dont Double-book myself since i will be in Anaheim Califronia attending Star Wars Celebration
I’d love to volunteer but can’t guarantee I’ll be free next April (in fact chances are I’ll be up to my eyes in it). Pencil me in for 2017!
Hey guys,I’d love to volunteer for Photography, I can send you over some images if you want I have my own Camera and lenses.
I would also like to do some writing, I can do any or the topics you looking for but pulp and sci-fi would be best. Again I can send you some articles I have written for other sites, as well as some creative writings
It sounds like you guys had a great time, I love that feeling of exhaustion mixed with fun. Nothing quite like it.
Hi there guys,
I have never posted in BOW forums but I have watched you all for years, I would love to help out next year in anyway I can. I am an avid photographer and enjoy macro photography so would happily help people improve at this or do some myself.
Also I enjoy being in front of a camera and here are a few links that will let you see a bit of me
I am a manager of a bowling alley and a film student staff memeber and me decided to have some fun
http://vimeo.com/51248912 This is part one
http://vimeo.com/77813775 this is part two
In both of the films I am in the grey waistcoat
I’m happy to help out at Salute…previous experience includes, video camera operation, video editing, production/project management, producing and more recently PR. I have also done event photography/video, previous events have included Carfest, Triples and music concerts.
Give me an email if you want more details….
I have over 12 years professional media experience…
Just to add Im also a qualified media and photography teacher, so I can help with any training on the day if required.
Hi all
Excellent coverage as always. I went to Salute (even with a broken foot) I wasn’t going to miss that for anything.
On the subject of volunteers, I would be more than happy to do some photography for you guys. Myself and my daughter are keen photographers, but she is the one with the BTEC in photography and will hopefully be joining the Royal Air Force at sometime this year as a photographer. So if you are not inundated with offers then I am happy to put myself forward to help.
Keep up the excellent work
Thank you
Gust throwing it in there. I would also like to volunteer. There are a few draw backs though. I’m not much of a photographer, my skill with the English language is not the best so I would not be great at writing up articles. I am however quite good at lifting stuff.
Honestly though, I do have some experience at holding a camera, just in case you wanted anybody working on a second crew.
PM sent to Warren, if you’re still looking for a qualified writer for historical games. Details are in my “resume.” 🙂
I’d be happy to help again with any stateside events.
I love the idea of having a Gaming Atlas! My good friend has just opened a hobby and gaming store in Western Australia and I’m sure would love to get in on this! I was only speaking to him the other day about somehow linking his store into Beasts of War for cool updates and even listing gamming events or things that we have going on in the store. Great Idea guys! Might send you a private message sometime Warren 🙂 Cheers 😀
Great show guys, as usual. Warren I really don’t know how you manage to do everything you do with only 24 hrs per day worth of time, it simply amazes me! I have a family myself so I know how hard it is to find time for everything, you’re my hero!
I would love to help you out at Salute but I have some small limitations… first I live in Italy and that alone could be a hindrance, but it can be helped. Secondly I don’t have the skills you need and that I’m afraid can’t be helped much! But, on second thought, if you would like to make videos in italian, then I’m your man!!! Ok, ok, stop laughing now…please…
Thanks guys, you’re the best out there!
So, Justin where are the links you said you would put in the description?
I’m interested in throwing my lot in for helping next year. I’m interested in the presenter position, I do have a file I can send you of a short film that I shot at Partisan 2012, the camera work is a bit shakey but you get the general idea. I also know a lot of people n the industry having worked with a lot of them that you mention and interview here at BOW from my days at GW, so some rapport is already there……dont let the photo put you off, Im actually a really chilled guy. 😉
