New Cygnar Gravediggers Stake Their Claim In Warmachine!
March 5, 2025 by brennon
The fun continues when it comes to Steamforged Games' Warmachine as another subfaction has been added into the mix for the forces of Cygar. The Gravediggers are looking to get stuck in with a new 35mm scale Battlegroup Box and Command Starter up for pre-order right now.
Cygnar Gravediggers Battlegroup Box Set // Warmachine
This is a new resin set which gives you a good starting point for a Cygnar Gravediggers army. Giving you some options for lower-point games, you get a Warcaster and two Warjacks that can lay the smackdown on whoever upsets Captain Cynthia 'Cyn' Rosko.
Rosko is the daughter of the legendary Warcaster, Allister Caine. She is a Gun Mage who can peel back enemy armour to expose their weaknesses. Backed up by the Patriot and the Valiant, there won't be many troops who can stand up against a surgical strike.

The set features Captain Cynthia 'Cyn' Rosko as your Warcaster alongside the Valiant as your Heavy Warjack. There is also the Patriot as your Light Warjack, and both of them have customisable weapons and heads, depending on what you prefer. You also get a Heavy Weapons Crate that might be worth scrapping over.
Another Starter Option?
The second of the sets for the Cygnar Gravediggers ramps things up a bit with the Command Starter, which gives you some bonus options which could be twinned with the Battlegroup Box.

This gives you a formidable force for playing thirty-point Warmachine games and could act as the foundation for the Gravediggers. A solid Starter Set option. Leading the way is Captain Buck Hasker as your Warcaster who excels in stealth and setting up a minefield to dispatch your enemies before they know what's happening.

The set also comes with a Character Heavy Warjack by the name of Plugger, who will be cutting down enemies with its Storm Cannon. Backing up the Warcaster and Warjack are The Rowdies, a set of three characters alongside Sgt. Brunaugh 'Bruno' Ramjaw as your Character Solo. You also have the Ammo Crate and Medical Crate, which are airdrops for your games.
Again, this is a resin set with 35mm miniatures for bulking out or starting with Cygnar. All in all, a nice alternative take on Cygnar when compared to Storm Legion already available for the faction.
It should be noted that the Patriot and the Valiant are also available to buy separately if you prefer alongside the set of Gravedigger Airdrops you'll have seen in these sets.
Are you going to be scooping up the Cygnar Gravediggers?

Paint them green and you could use them for Ariadna in Infinity! I think I might actually prefer these TAGs, as they have a more low-tech look than the ones in Infinity proper.
That said, I think these minis are beautiful and would probably work well in Warmachine too 😉
I’m afraid these are starting to go the GW route for me.
I mean there are some amazing sculpts coming out of the new range. I really like the pirate trollbloods.
But I feel the ammount of details is starting to turn me of. It’s too busy and feels like it’s gonna be a chore to paint, especially an army.
Although I enjoyed playing Warmachine and Hordes (2nd and 3rd edition) I did find painting the armies to rather tedious, especially Cygnar as rank and file troops are mind numbing.
The above models do look a bit ‘busy’ to paint, but the sculpts are fine.
And does Twoflower know that someone stole his Luggage…
I very interested in WM again… but those are a lot more complex than the Cygnar I recall painting.
looking good… for Stargrave!
