Really love the look of these, very clean sculpts. All of the sets look terrific. I know it’s heresy but it’s the French set that calls out to me the most. They have bags of character.
Already got me my Brits, but I’m looking forward to the Wave 2 stuff coming when there will be some of the smaller nations released.
Really like the factions, although I think I will be buying British! 😉
So many minis!
I’m excited for the incoming Russians, as the preview shots looked really distinctive
Got to be the brits for me, I always wanted to try painting some Napoleonic miniatures but didn’t really know where to start, this could be the way to test the waters.
Like those models
With regards to the mold lines in the video, I’d highly recommend (& have personally been using for a while now) the use of a rotary tool (dremel, etc) with a diamond etching tip to more easily be able to sand down those mold lines or particularly thick mold slippage on minis (works for metal, hard plastic as well as the softer plastics/restics seen in the casting of certain miniature lines (runewars, older mantic minis, etc), can also be used with more pure resins but I recommend using a face mask to prevent excessive inhalation of resin dust when doing the cleaning)) even in the hard to reach places on the minis. For hard plastics, 5k rpm can work quite well to clean up thicker flash/mold lines while 7.5k can do quite well on metals, etc & then use either a wire brush to clean up the debris from the cleaning or a brush attachment for the rotary tool for the material that seems to not come off as easily. Hope this helps for anyone who hasn’t uncovered this cleaning technique before & was getting tired of using the knife scraping method.
I love all three (and the Russians I saw previewed somewhere … here?) Of these is has to be the Spanish for me but it’s a VAR decision.
Didn’t like the look of the unpainted as they looked very poor on detail, but when painted they looked a lot better.
Why would anyone want to buy anything other than British?
because I have taste
I’m still undecided on a faction as they all have a certain appeal. I think I’m going to wait until the Prussians come out before I opt for one. Although having a couple of the nationalities might be an option as I could use one for group games and the other for solo.
Tempted by the Spanish.
All the models are excellent, nice variety and brilliant sculpts
I like them all, but maybe the Spanish edge it? The models definitely do justice to the artwork in the book.
I wonder if North Star will eventually sell the models as singles, as quite a few of them (particularly the more occult/esoteric characters) don’t necessarily have to belong to a certain nationality. These are the type of characters that don’t really have many counterparts in current model ranges, whilst uniformed soldiers are pretty commonplace (albeit lacking the monster hunter trappings).
I imagine they will once the initial ranges are out
The British Investigator looks like Doug McClure
that’s why I went blonde instead of the black haired version he’s a handsome fop.
Very nice looking models all round, personally I like the look of the Spanish out of the three. Going to go have a look for the potentially previewed Russians I’ve read about in the comments.
northstar have a few photos on their facepage
Ooh some fab interesting figures in this game.
Another good review and demo on the painted up figures video. These guys look really the part with all the crosses and what not.
I still like the French…especially the cultist. But as you said…looking forward to what will be unveiled for the Russians.
The sets as presented are pretty nice. But I’d like to pick and choose a few figures from each. Like the Cultist and Veteran Hunter from the French box and the the Supernatural Investigator from the British box and the Swordsman and Champion of Faith from the Spanish box. I’d then throw them in a US army list from the war of 1812 and have my settings be in the swamps around New Orleans.
I suspect I’ll be getting all of the factions in the long run but initially I’m tempted to go British so I can make them part of my local ‘history’ – the “5th (Northumberland) Regiment of Foot”, aka “The Fighting Fifth”.
They all look great. I like the Spanish the most.
These all look so very tempting. If my wallet is very lucky, I will be able to refrain from getting EVERYTHING…
Based on the miniatures alone, the choice will be a tough one. I like several miniatures from several of the factions. Decisions, decisions… Or just get them all, to avoid such hard choices
Very clean sculpts!! ‘‘This might get me into the Neapolitan era ,is that the right reference?
Lovely models. Looking forward to getting into this.
My British have long been painted haven’t they MR.Sharpe nut am tempted by Prussians was going to look at Front Rank but they are in middle of sale to Gripping Beasts, Hope when they do them we get a Lieb Hussar for a bit of Deaths Head before the SS buggered up regiments wearing it.
still don’t know which to choose, although a lot easier than blood and plunder
OOh nice, very nice. Nice and shiny. Really liking the look of this game
these are looking good another good sounding game
The Russians!
All three sets look great. Full of character.
probably go for the British, or the French or the Spanish & Russians on the way
too much choice for me
I’m really excited about this game. I think I’ll do the British and French initially as these match my existing 28mm Napoleonics. Love the North Star sculpts for the specialists! Then I’m looking forward to the Wave 3 monsters before I add any additional hunter factions.
I was going to do the Russians and the Austrian (you have to love the wurst), but now I don’t know. Those skinny bases are asking to be removed for clear bases.
got to be the british and spanish russians later, simply cant do frenchmy dad will write me out his will.
I like both the British and French best.
Very nice sculpts, certainly different to anything I’ve got currently.
Great range, I especially like the british unit!
This game will be great for painting nations I would never be able to afford to collect a whole Napoleonic army for. I always liked the look of the white Austrian uniforms with the Black metal helmets. Love the Sharpe inspired Irish Spanish.
All the factions look amazing. Not usually a fan of Spanish during Napoleonic era, but they are making me reconsider.
The french seem to appeal more sculpt wise, the others are both cool too though
I wonder whether I might assemble a “squad of convenience” made up from individuals from various countries; each separated from their army for different reasons who reach an agreement to co-operate to fight a common enemy. Need to look again at the book to see if that would work.
Not sure if I prefer the French or the Spanish. I like the mix of auxiliary pieces with the frontline troops as compared to the British.
Anyone else think the supernatural investigator looks like Kenneth Brannagh in Harry Potter? I can’t unsee it now
Also I liked those Spanish a lot more than I thought I would. The Veteran hunter model in particular is amazing.
PS. Changed my mind that Haitian Cultist is amazing
I like the Spanish and the British sets. I can’t wait to talk the guys in my group into this game. Thanks for all the previews
Hmmm to add an actual Horatio to play in game or field Don Hernando Montoya Ramo (a nod to my nom de plume for the Dr. Grodbort’s Infallible Aether Oscillator with fine testimonial portraiture)
The minis are great, reminds me of the Dracula’s America ones from a few years back (although a different period). Very nostalgic style. Nice mix of uniforms/unique looks in each pack.
Beautiful figures and I love the French
I think the french would be my first choice
You see, normally I would jump at the British after all the years of Sharpe, Hornblower and Barry Lyndons in life but I find the Spanish particularly captivating.
I also think the idea of the Spaniards fighting to defend their home from supernatural threats a little more endearing than the Brits stomping over to save the world again.
I love the individuality of the figures and the mix of soldiers and civilians. The highwayman does seem perfect for a Brotherhood of the Wolf and the citizens like the doctor or the likes have that Vidocq feel.
Great paint jobs as well. The gloss varnish on the boots and leather coat add that realism to the characters.
Nice prize!
