Now we have reached the final show for the Beasts of War 2015 Gaming Awards. We're going to be finding out who is going to be the winner in each of the categories as we whittle the chosen finalists down from four to just one...

Find out if your bets were right!

Congrats to all the winners, very well deserved = )
great show really entertaining but some what surprised that in year when the term golden age of gaming has been used often that kingdom death monster didn’t win a thing !! .however I suppose that’s awards ceremonies for you .you never know quite what’s going to happen really pleased that the fantasy terrain won ,they deserve it having run not 1 but 3 successful kickstarters all of which arrived pretty much on time
Yes, I to was disappointed regarding Kingdom Death, as they design and thought gone into game play is so impressive, unfortunately I think people voted for Betrayal, because they got some cool cheap 30k marines, not because of the game design, a bit sad in my opinion.
I felt the same about the warlord titan, as someone said, how many who voted for this actually own it are are likely to own it, all yhe other finalists in this category were more or thy winners.
I guess part of the GW doing well were also if the voting were anounced on sites like Dakka-Dakka might have gotten the GW stallwards out to vote
I have to say you can tell the board game category was voted for primarily by wargamers rather than boardgamers, not just Betrayal but some of the other short-listings as well. Like you have said, think those votes were people so happy to have 30k plastics, rather than on the concept of it actually being a good ‘board game’. Boardgame for me is myself and group of mates sat round on a saturday evening with a few beers for a few hours; Spartacus, XCom, Dead of Winter. Just can’t imagine Betrayal or KOD in that category I’m afraid.
I personally can’t believe Blood Rage didn’t make the top 4 at least. I’ve played all the game except for Calth and I can easily say BR is my game of 2015.
Congrats to the winners
The Empire Strikes back this evening. Congratulations to all the winners.
By my approximate count, I only had two “winners” but I can’t quarrel with a single result. There were strong contenders all the way through in every category.
Just looking at the runners up (let alone the winners) you’ll see how strong our hobby is right now. Long may that continue!
*wipes away a tear, raises an imaginary glass of cheap plonk*
Great show guys. Congratulations to all the winners 😀 . I guessed a grand total of one category right for tonights finals 🙁 .
Great show! Glad to see so many of my favorites win!
I’m not sure how the Warlord Titan won best model kit when I doubt even 5 BoWers own the thing lol
In fact I doubt that many have even seen the thing in real life! Oh well.
One word Dakka-Dakka – as size envy
Anyway I wasn’t trying to bring the whole mood down, the show itself was a tremendous success!
Is owning a model a requirement to vote for it? We’ll struggle to vote for best paintjob if so (or I will – not casting aspersions on your painting ability :)).
I will say having seen at least six individual ones in person, its simply the greatest kit in existence (so far), the level of detail on that kit is outstanding. Its unashamedly deserved to win. Its kind of like the Bugatti Veyron of the resin kit world, few will ever own it, but its still an amazing example of technical excellence.
great show, lots of gw fanboys obviously out there, the kingdom death stuff is awesome the the kingdom death pheonix which i do own is the only mini that should have one it is simply stunning its the most detailed mini i have ever seen.
i bet gw dont even care about getting these either
Continuing that analogy though, how many car of the year awards has the Bugatti Veyron won? Really this should be about kits within reach of the common man.
I would say it won one the year it released most likely 🙂
Quite a difference in potential ownership between a £1000 model and a £1,000,000 super car.
One if I save very hard I could buy, the other … Well no amount of saving will ever let me own one (even in 10 lifetimes)
Was actually awarded Car of the Decade by two of the world’s most respected automotive media.
Oh right ill shut up then! 🙂
I think that is true, but I voted for the Kingdoms Death Phoenix (the weird bird) which I don’t own, but I saw a lot of people work with it and it looks like a fantastic sculpt.
So I think not owning it isn’t a reason, however… I was also surprised on that one :/
I bought four and melted them down to make a giant ash tray coz I’m a bad wobbly head 🙂
Congratulations to all of the winners this year. Now all eyes turn to 2016 and from what I have seen, this is already shaping up to be a great year for gaming. Dropfleet Commander and The Devil’s Run: Route 666 look awesome.
Would love to see the 2016 awards become a full awards ceremony with a venue and the finalists there to accept the awards.
that would be awesome.
Already got my copy of Devil`s Run:Route 666, waiting on Dropfleet and also backed The Walking Dead : All out War. I`m also waiting on Firelock`s kickstarter : Blood and Plunder, so ya this year is going to be one hell of a year for gaming………………….
Ha! Amazing! I’m speechless. So unexpected!
Who’d have ever guessed we’d see Warren in a tuxedo?
Congrats btw
Well done! Deserved in my opinion 🙂
Great Show and congrats to all winners! I am especially happy for the winner of the Best Miniatures Game!
Well that was fun, well done to the winner`s…………………
Well got 3 out of 8 right, for me that`s good going.
Great weekend guy`s, going by what games are coming out this year next year`s award winners will be even harder to pick……………………………
Thanks for the good show. A bit perplexed by some of the winners but hey! That’s the community! However Frostgrave has been an earthquake in the gaming community and it’s nice to see this represented in the Beast of War Awards.
Loved the show. Great stuff as always. Really glad Frostgrave won best miniatures game. Congratulations to @lagoon83 and @caladors and well everyone else included in the show.
I’m very happy to be part of such a great community.
Thanks @thedace we have a great community, and while I am happy to hear my name in association with What are you painting now and community we have built together, I must say that it is people like yourself @wildchevy @brushstrokes @andy (how can you expect me to know it off the top of my head Andy?!) @jay188 @jayadan yourself @thedace, and @igotskills who helped kick that thread off, and kept it going, but we also have other people to thank for keeping the torch lit and keeping the marathon going like @seldon9 who keeps feedback going. I would keep going but if I was name everyone I would go blue in the face from lack of breath, and that is a good thing.
I am honoured to hear my name called however, I don’t think of this as a shout out to me. I think of it as a collective congratulations to our community painters, of positive contributors, and of the spirit of the thread.
But yeah, I won’t lie, it was a pretty awesome birthday present. But without you guys, it is just a lonely thread, so thank you all of you who contribute to what are you painting now.
Congratulations everyone!
Beasts, I’d love to see more of Frostgrave, particularly a live blogged battle report. I’ve not paid it much attention as of yet, but it seems to have so much old school cool to it – the artwork, the minis, the backstory/setting.
awesome show BOW!!!
is it sad I’m alone in a tux with MOET champers? lol
either way two of my votes won and I loved watching it all.
awesome to see ben live and mr japan again :).
also good to see llyod away from the pc 😛
Well I was gob smacked when Warren said my name, I could understand the others. I was actually dumb struck.
Well done too, to all those winners in each category and we actually got them all right bar one where I thought the best miniatures game would go to Mantic and kings of war 2, But heck I cannot say I was sorry when frostgrave won. As we love it, and are enjoying making scenery and stuff for it.
The only one single award that was missing was the one that the entire BOW team deserved and that one without doubt should have been the biggest of any of the awards.
So I propose that we charge our drinking vessels and salute the ones and the only ones, the entire BOW team both sides of the pond.
Thanks again I am blown away to be mentioned along sides the likes of my friend Oriskany, Redben, Unclejimmy, happyhowler, deaddave, caladors and sadoniuspolinius If I have spelt any of you guys wrong my apologies, but all I can say is to be named amongst such mighty people I am humbled.
Good hunting to all.
Chris G
Its well deserved all round mate 🙂
Great video guys, really excellent show.
Well done to all the winners, some I would never have guessed beforehand.
Justin – there already is a boardgame which uses mod-cubes. They were invented over 10 years ago but nobody could think of what to do with them. One day someone gave them to a board games designer and he made the game Rattlebones.
You can see the guys from the Board Game Geek channel @Game Night’ play it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKY-_CwcAfA
Well done to all the winners
Personally I didn’t vote for anything as it didnt seem right to vote for something I didn’t have any experience of playing and if I had which was about two of the games, thought they deserved a vote
Excellent show, thoroughly enjoyed that, massive thumbs up to all the winners. The BOW team know how to put on a show!
Great fun to watch! Would be interested to see voting tallies. Please share those in a future video or blog post.
Guild ball should have beaten frostgrave. Warlord titan winning ugh.
This year could be good though I worry about dropZONE commander bring forgotten over the meh fleet game
Congrats to all the winners. And thanks to the team for a great show
wonderful job guys! Congrats to the winners, loving that Frostgrave won!
These awards keep getting better and better 🙂 I got one right but the rest was well deserved 🙂
Top show guys and grats to all the winners!
What fantastic fun! Enjoyed the whole weekend, even laughed out loud a few times… Great entertainment and thanks to the whole BoW team!
And congrats to all the voters
We’re all winners as we get to play with all these fantastic toys
well dune to the winners and the nominees any of them would have been down as winners I think the field is so good nowadays.
Really think the board game winner is really a case of wargamer just wanting cheap marines, and not actually about the quality of the game itself. Compared that to Kingdom Death (which I own), and it is a superb game with a very high ranking on board game geek, and people interested in it – even without the minis. That to me says a lot.
I fully agree – but that is the nature of the beast with a public vote
Pandemic Legacy has the highest ranking on BGG, and having played most of the big releases from last year there’s no doubt in my mind that it was the best boardgame of 2015.
It was certainly one of the most unique board gaming experiences I’ve ever had.
Some surprises I’d say but congratulations to all nonetheless!
A particular mentioning for GW, after long years of trying they have indeed managed to extract quite a bit of money from me last year which came out of the blue..
Still feel gutted seeing BaC winning over KD:M tho..
Anyhow, thank you for mentioning me in the show and I’m very much looking forward to spending time with all of you guys here on BoW.
You guys rock!
Cheers
Andy
Frostgrave…if it’s so fabulous, why hasn’t BoW and, especially, Ben filmed a demo/series for it?
Great job, guys & congratulations to all the winners! I think the nominations were fantastic this year and really represented all the different aspects of gaming. And now to study up on my Frostgrave warband. 😀
Fantastic, so much fun to be involved in this 🙂 though I only picked 2. I didn’t even pick the winner in the category where I own 3 out of the 4 finalists lol!
A hearty “Hear, hear” to the role cale of valuable community members too!
Now to improve on next year, try and get @deltagamegirl22 and @stvitusdancern involved!
I wasn’t surprised by most of them, but I admit I was disappointed at the Ariadna piece winning best artwork. It’s not even the best piece of Infinity art, let alone the best of those four. However tons of voters obviously thought differently than I.
Best artwork/best painted miniature is always going to be deeply subjective.
All of the art/miniatures in that category is absolutely fantastic so the votes are usually just going to go for the game that has the most fans.
Is there a list of the winners somewhere? I’ve no interest in watching an hour long video. :s
Great show guys. Well done to the winners and the BoW team. Really enjoyed the presentation show style format and a chance to review the best of wargaming from the previous year. No complaints about any of the results at all, all look worthy winners. I voted for three winners including Frostgrave . Really pleased to see such an accessible game that is being so well supported by publisher and miniature manufacturer make a big impact on the hobby.
So, will BoW just stand by and accept vote rigging… or respond?
Did you rig the vote?
Hehe, nope. But bringing in a big bunch of people from DakkaDakka might count. Specially when considered that they obviously dont use BoW – considering earlier Award shows.
It’s open to anyone in the hobby to vote.
The vote was open to the public rather than just regular BoW members.
comments like this that have caused me to stop popping along here too often.
Can’t just celebrate the winners?
How dare people enjoy a game that you don’t like?!
Eh? Have we missed something?
Awesome show. Really enjoyed watching it. It makes me recap the year again and it was a good year. At least for wargamers 😀
We are still awed and speechless. A humongous Thank You to everyone who supported us! But even “humongous” is in the size of a fly, compared to what we would actually like to express. This day is a day to remember for us and without you it would not be possible. Thank you very much and we hope to please and surprise you this year as well.
Great show as always! I don’t agree with all the winners but that’s cool 🙂 Seeing KoW in the finalists is promising as I’m just about to try it out (due to my friend not being a big fan of Frostgrave ironically enough).
@beasts of war any chance of you doing a follow up to show that goes a bit more in-depth into some of the winners .would be really interested in bac and the terrain but the stand out winner that I would really be interested in would be frostgrave .Have heard some good things but did not realise just how popular it must be to win and has definitely peaked my interest
Voters might also have welcomed the return of the Specialist Games line from GW. That Was a significant move this year. There is also a scent of Specialist Games in the victory of Frostgrave due to this game being a spiritual son of Mordheim ;o)
Wow! Thanks for the head’s up guys! And thanks to everybody following along on my hobby journey! Your comments are what keep me going and creating more and more crazy ork stuff!
Fun show. Cool crew. Keep it up guys!
Was not convinced by the board game win. Feels a bit like fan boy syndrome to me. I am a massive infinity fan but felt that their were more interesting and technical paint jobs this year so did not choose the Angel job. I also did not think the CB art work of US ariadna was anywhere near as good as lots of other infinity art and was not the best of the options to vote for. I went with kingdom death as the art work is fantastic and really gets you in to the games world and tone. Feels like kindom death really lost out this year dispite it being a top end product.
New category for 2016: Best Kickstarter campaign? If it existed in 2015, I’d have nominated as finalists Blood Rage, Project: Elite, Conan, and The Others: 7 Sins
Just want to thank Warren, Sam, John, Justin, Lloyd and the entire BoW team for doing what you do for miniatures gaming. The content that comes out of our hobby can be rather dull at times, so these annual awards and everything else you guys do reminds me just how much ‘fun’ this can be. Thanks for all you do and please, please don’t ever quit!
I’m still kind of shocked that Frostgrave actually won. That’s pretty cool, I could’ve sworn it was going to be KoW hands down.
You have to hand it to Mantic though. They delayed the 2nd Deadzone Kickstarter in order to run the KoW KS earlier. What a smart, smart move that was. Deadzone is now in limbo, but getting a rules rewrite. KoW on the other hand, seems to be able to do no wrong from everything I hear about it. What fantastic timing on Mantic’s part.
Anyway, hats off to everyone involved with this fantastic awards show! You know Warren….it’s only a matter of time before you start having the award winners show up on the screen to accept the award. Don’t fight it, just start planning for it. 🙂
So happy to see Frostgrave take home the big prize. An amazing little game with a ton of heart.
The results reflect the demographics, of course, but that should be a given. This is a wargaming community for the most part, after all.
Though I do agree that having the industry vote could be interesting, but I can only imagine the headache that would cause in administration. Maybe a panel of experts for a few categories?
Either way, great show! What’s more important than the winners in the end are how many amazing choices there were to begin with!
Absolutely agree, we are all winners – it’s a wonderful time for wargamers, I can’t remember another time in the past 30 years where we have had such a wealth of quality games and miniatures.
Thanks for this amazing award show! I liked it very much last year and you know what? I liked it even more this year 😀
You should do some sort of live event next year 😀
Late to the party watching this one but really enjoyed it, goes to show there are some fantastic bits out there. Really tempted by Guild Ball especially with the restock of Resin!
Great Show guys…loved every second of it!!!
