Have you been wondering what these Forgefathers are going to look like?
You've seen the sketches during TURN 8 and you just need to see more... then wait no longer!
If you haven't got your hands on the Warpath Alpha Playtest yet, then you can get a copy by clicking the button below. You'll need to be a member of Backstage, but don't worry. The Beta test will be out in a few weeks when everyone will get a chance to have a go!

WOW! I REALLY like those sketches!
I have always been a fan of the Mantic Dwarf concepts.
I like the look of these
Those are really going to look nice. They are going to be like super squats. Fun fun
Holy crap do those Dwarves look bad-ass! I was going to collect Dwarves just cos I know the’ll have cool lumbering tanks and vehicles but now I’m loving the Dwarves themselves! Its kinda hard to make Dwarves look that awesome IMO. Lets hope Mantic sticks to these sketches these are gold!
Wow…nice. Man those look so brilliant, and a nice odd mix between sci-fi and oddly Steampunk lol. The new sculpts are going to look superb, just know it.
They do look cool. Dwarves aren’t my thing but as good as they look I can imagine what the other races are going to look like. Not into the Ork thing either.
Oh my ! Now that’s way better than the IG Squats and the SM combined… I want to see the mini when it’s done !

I don’t understand why they need to do like dwarves. Can’t they make them look a little more alien? I’m not into fantasy mainly because I’s so sick of the standard Elf, Dwarf, Orc, Undead, etc. Very not original. Mantic is going to have to be more original to get me.
yeah, same here – allthough I appreciate their efforts and talents. It’s hard enough to find original sci-fi races – most are usually the same old tired tropes (much like fantasy) usually bipeds, bugs, power-armour ect. It’s really hard if your only into non-humanid aliens like me too. Allthough lately I discovered Khurasan have a range of cool planet-aliens which ill be buying 🙂 so there is some stuff like that…just harder to find
A lot of the Khurasan models are very similar to the races from the Traveller RPG… which is from way back in the 80s… we’ll be doing a review of it soon.
I dig the plant’s and their “things from beyond” range. What I’d give to see stuff like that in plastic and army-form. What my bank-account would give for that to NOT happen.
I like this. I think they need to make big heavy robots for these guys. Honestly i’m looking forward to the 8th race. Sounds so mysterious, and 8 is my lucky number.
It would be stupid of Mantic to risk a brand new race right from the start. If Warpath becomes profitable (if it isn’t then they won’t make any money to invest in new, risky, ideas), then it would be a good idea to make a brand new alien race, or something somewhat brand new.
space dwarfs, space dwarfs, space dwarfs! I love me some space dwarfs, i am working on converting mantic iron watch to abhuman IG at the mo and with these guys…. space dwarfs, space dwarfs, space dwaaaaaarf s,
Yep, its decided. This is the first army im going to buy when it comes out. If the mini range is even 20% of this art, they will be awesome.
pic1=SNIKT!?!
nuff said bub…
look so nice! When are they coming out I wonder.
Those are very nice concepts but I really don’t get the iron beard guards. If you cannot fit your facial hair into a normal helmet, then SHAVE. They are not tolkien, D&D, or warhammer dwarfs, they are allowed to have a few clean shaven guys when it’s logical. Dose the static charge of their beard fuel their weapons.
“If you cannot fit your facial hair into a normal helmet, then SHAVE.”
If you have to mutilate yourself to fit into your safety gear, it’s not that safe!
Heard of the Sikh regiments? Besides, you’re looking at it way too practically, I think the “beards” are there to complete the faceplate of their helmets; their armour-building skills are such, that they like to make their suits evocative of the ancient ways, menacing to the enemy and perhaps a status symbol of the bearer. In the far future, it’s all about the PR. 😀
If the final product looks anything like these sketches, I’ll be getting a couple of boxes. I’m looking forward to what the other races are going to loo like.
I am getting these (and the Warpath game) for sure. The games rules look like a lot of fun and fairly simple. And I am thinking these will make a fun little theme force of Dwarf Space Wolves 🙂 Ya I know, just seems cool to me.
i’m pretty sure the “wolvie” hand is the ripper CCW for the Mar-ork-ers. i’m soooo looking forward to this stuff coming out. it looks so awesome. if it aint broke dont fix it. WWWWAAAAARRRRPPPPPAAAAAAATTTTTTHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh boy.. space dwarves.
Maybe the Forgefathers can have a special character who uses the marauder CCW, possibly with amnesia… could call him Low-Guhn…
These are some great concept sketches. Here’s hoping the rules and minis can match the vision.
These pictures make me really excited to see the initial box set that Mantic Games Warpath. On Turn 8 I heard them say Space Orks and Space Dwarves. Kings of War really impressed me, so I believe these mini’s will be just as spectacular. Can’t wait til October, hummm someone has a birthday in October.
I like these sketches but they need to have armies of equal quality to fight against. Also this is risky ground as their fantasy Dwarves could be used as proxy for Citadel ones. There are no longer any Squats in 40k (unless you use internet lists) so these are a much bigger risk. I’d like to see mantic do an ongoing sci-fi version of Dwarf King’s Hold.
I wonder what other races there will be…will they have space undead? If so then warpath here i come!! 😀 ZOMBIES!!!!
I love the finger, its very dynamic with that pointing and all. Also armored beards help with the morale.
all of these are sweet frikkin’ concepts. I know that mantic can pull this off.
I thought the ForgeFathers were mor like Space Marines. But it seems they are Dwarfs.
When I first opened this I thought “Wtf!? No way!” as it was totaly unexpected for me.
But I love Squats. And they do look liek real nice sketches… and the sculpt is usualy always better than the sketch…..!
Well I’m not that keen on the idea of dwarfs in space. Never was back in the 40K 2nd ed and probably never will be. And that is what the concept art is telling me. Your basic fantasy dwarf janked to space and given a big gun. It’s the beards I think 🙂
Having said that, I think there is room for a “dwarfish” like race in a sci-fi setting. I just think the concept of dwarfs in space needs to approached from a new angle. Like they’re a space faring race whose bodies are physically weak because of generations long time exposure to micro gravities and rely on their technology (insert power armour here 😉 ) for their weaknesses.
I think the armoured beards are part of a death-mask type piece of armour.
I’m sooo very excited to see how this all unfolds 🙂
WAAAARRRPAATH!!!
I really like the concepts but they just look like GW to me. I’d like them to at least… I don’t know give them a little more alien face, maybe six fingers or something, anything!
I liked some of the aliens in the old Vor game. I’ll never get rid of my Shard (crystal aliens)
I keep hearing the “Jews in Space” song from Mel Brooks “History of the world Part 1” in my head. But then with Dwarves in Space, far more Drinking, Anvils, Metal, Metal Music, Fighting and Beards!
“We’re Dorfs out in space, we’re boozing along forging the Dwarvish race………….”
Hehe, this will be fun!
