Army Painter RuneWars Hobby Weekend Live Blog – Saturday
Progress Update With Tim
We find out what Tim has been tinkering with and indeed how he has been adapting some of his models.
Let's just say that he might have already done some cutting and changed his warlord into a bit of a dancer...

I like the conversion work. Makes it pretty unique looking.
soon on BoW Tim and his inventions!
This puts @warzan meets mat in it’s place and moves ahead to another level.
Glad too see no one is suffering from painting burnout.
I couldn’t quiet make out what the tool was, but it looks like an interesting idea!
I’m a big fan of conversions
There is no end to that nail buffer tool’s utility!
I like the paint scheme like John said it looks dark and sinister. I really do like the custom work done on the champion.
Nice work .
He really is holding those axes like a pair of maracas
The skellys are coming along very nicely. I can understand wanting to take a bit longer to get the wyrm finished to a bit higher standard.
Loving the paint scheme
Loving the darker look to the army and that nail buffer is looking like a must buy in my hobby panopoly.
Now I want to see Maraccas on that model! Make it happen, man!
I like the conversion. Looks much better than the original.
I think we know whats in the next johns Tool segment
John has tool envy
i really need to get myself one of those tools! And the finished skeleton looks great, i really like how he painted the skull
I like the Dark and sinister work as well!
very cool scheme, and really love the mindset behind the skeletons color. Also really like the idea for stippling.
That’s it. Nail buffer bought. What a tool.
Love what’s been done to this army.
Good old hobby recycling of items designed for other things.
The ingenious ways to incorporate non-hobby tools into hobby uses really amazes me. Well done
took a while to find a buffer like that one on amazon & it arrives tomorrow,
Suddenly a spike in nail buffer sales…
The nail buffer looks quite useful.
Need to find one or two of those buffers
is that the same tool he used for removing the mold lines?
@severon yup, is a good paint shaker too
Tim’s Tool sounds like it would go better than John’s Tool.
I see a John meets tool segment.
What a tool!
succes with the army, looking great so far.
Yea…ordered a nail buffer from Amazon right after I saw the first video on Friday. I think you started a trend.
Lot of ingenuity here
another brill tip from the man….
McGuyvering a paint tool. 🙂
The nail buffer cracked me up because it reminded me of a fellow I knew who used a “wand massager” – and, yes, that most definitely belongs in quotes – as a paint agitator, when it wasn’t duct taped to the desk where he poured plaster molds as the key component to his makeshift vibrating table, that is.
The conversion makes it a bit of a “You over there – I want to kill you” look
That’s the second guy using one of those things, new trend starting to take shape?
@marine101 nope same guy just buggering about instead of painting 😉
So much good stuff…
Looking around at electric nail buffers, a lot of attachments look like the same ones for my Dremmel… Not sure I need to buy one now.
@outriderhobbies The difference between a dremel and the buffer is that one is rotary the other reciprocal in motion. So you are much less likely to dig in to the mini when buffing using the buffer
I really need one of these!!!
Ok, now I really need to grab one of those nail buffers.
You’re all so naughty
Awesome end result on the skellie Tim! Looks like having hobby weekend in the truest sense of it, I’ll enjoy keeping an eye on those
More useful ideas from Tims tool shed.
There are so many items like the nail buffer that end up in the hands of hobbyists that get repurposed and are then used in a completely different manner that the manufacturer never ever would have dreamed of. I would love to see the look of the on some of these engineers faces who have designed these when they see where these items are being used.
Nice work
nice paints!!! I love the hobby weekend, I love you 😀
cool
One tool, One million uses!! Undead are coming along nicely there mate!
Haha, even more uses for it!
I’ll have to go over all the uses he says he has for the buffer. The obvious one is the mold lines, but the stippling is interesting as well.
Yeah… ingenious! What kind of brush is he using on the tool?
@elcommi its a cheap sponge brush I got in big bag of brushes in the kids craft aisle in a craft shop. They are brilliant for weathering just pick little bits out to get a random texture dab in paint then stipple the majority of the paint off (like drybrushing)
and lightly stipple with it
It hard to focus sometimes xD
Now seriously, they look great.
different.
There was quite a few Hairy black T shirt wearing guys at the beauty counter in boots this weekend
lol nail buffer 🙂
Going to be Tim’s tool soon.
Interesting.
Love the warlord!
Chocolate hobnobs in the background, Gerry must be there @avernos and is that Ben painting away as well @brennon
@buggeroff well spotted only missing Laura and Mel the terrain tutor off the table…
Good idea!
I love the quick stippling pattern. That’s a great tip.
Well the nail buffer has so many uses it would seem.
Thanks for the show!
Have to agree with Tim about the ‘Dirty/Dark’ look for Skeletons 🙂
That base needs a good airbrushing.
well he made me smile – thanks!
Soon to be featured on John’s Tool.
