About the Project

Last year our club started 'A tale of 4 gamers' for Age of Sigmar. Having never played Warhammer (fantasy) before and hearing some interesting things about the game I thought this was a good opportunity to jump in! After some careful thought (not really that careful to be honest!) I chose the Stormcast Eternals as my first AoS army. The early parts of this project will show what I've painted so far and later posts will show my progress for the rest of this year. As an added incentive to finish off my army our club are currently planning to run an Age of Sigmar game at our local show in January. I'd better get painting!

Now that I’ve finished my hero I couldn’t resit a big group shot of everything I’ve painted so far!

The last post brought me up to date so now I’m on to my commander.

I started this guy the other day by spraying gold then using an airbrush to paint up the skin on the dracoth.

I then built up the gold again where I had over sprayed and started adding detail.

I finished off the model in the same way as the previous models so he fits in really nicely.

I’m reasonably happy with the finished result but I think he looks a bit dark and the white doesn’t look so great. Painting white is something I need to work on!

I’ve had the Prosecutor models for quite along time and was never quite sure how I was going to achieve the sharp white wings easily.

I tried a few different methods using washes over white, highlighting white over grey but I couldn’t quite get the finish I wanted.

In the end I washed a thinned down GW blue wash around the base of the wings and a thinned down Army Painter Strong Tone down the wings.

The get the cleaner look I wanted, I airbrushed white from the tips of the wings to blend up to the washes. I then touched up around the top of the wings with gold where the white had over sprayed slightly.

Further Distractions!

After I’d painted up the Judicators, I ‘accidentally’ picked up the Blightwar boxset (a further distraction from the tale of 4 gamers format!…oops). I couldn’t resist a good deal on the Stormcast models!

My first job was the Hunters and the Aetherwings.

Next I added some archers.

I painted these a little differently. I undercoated with Army Painter brown primer then sprayed gold with GW’s Retributor Armour.

I washed with Army Painter strong tone and built up the gold as I did previously.
