I’ve always love the Afrika Korps uniforms, some of my favourite of the war.

robertoutram

Could you do the paints in a list form?

warhammergrimace

I have two unpainted Panzers which I’m tempted to paint up in a desert scheme.

wilco92

got to love the army painter method

rot6

sneakyrabbit

Quick and easy, I like that.

skodamarine

John’s army on the table looked good, so I’m all on that colour scheme.

toricova

nice tips, great for new painters

dukeexeter

I didn’t know there was such a variety of colors used. Definitely looks like a fun theme to paint

Painting tips are always helpful. Thank you.

I am going to have to bookmark these painting tips. For when I inevitably pick up a ton of models 😀

uptrebor

Great way to flash through all those lovely shiny minis

denzien

Does anyone know what the colour scheme was for air crews in Africa? Was it the same as the ground troops.

collins

Weathering would be key in making them look sharp.

amachan

My tips for painting; pink, just lots of different pinks. ?

I’d vary the paints on the uniforms quite a bit, since the Germans bleached them in Africa, and the effectiveness of that varied quite a bit.

aurorainbag

Thanks so much for this. Bookmarking this video, cause I have no clue what colors to use. And after seeing this bootcamp, I might well invest in Bolt Action

smitty14

Should be rather quick to paint up,

rbwgames

Great color choices.

somegeezer

Good tips. A good step away from “paint it all dessert yellow” that I might have done to those poor Arfix soldiers.

Seems like nice simple paint scheme.

georgesealy

Fairly simple colour schemes, but so much potential for extreme weathering and “non-regulation” options.

goban

John I am surprised and dismayed that you didn’t paint one panzer 2 in grey/maroon camo scheme.

spacewolflord

Thank you for the painting tips.

fireblarney

I’m thinking of grabbing a box or two of Africa Korps for myself now, so these tips might just come in handy soon.

falerox

It is great that most paint manufacturers now have “systems” similar to this that allow a shade, mid and highlight for table painting. I also like how ya’ll demonstrate that you don’t have to use the really expensive stuff to get a good result.

limburger

The Runewars bootcamp shows how effective that method of ‘coloured primer’ + wash is in getting stuff done.
Of course it all depends on models not having a ton of different colours to begin with …

limburger

The DAK army set has a good variety of helmets and caps.
In theory you could use different helmets to group squads and then use helmet type + colour as an indicator of which unit they belong to.
ie :
= Tropical helmet / desert yellow = 1st squad
= caps / army green = 2nd squad
= steel helmet / uniform gray = 3rd squad
= steel helmet / desert yellow = 4th squad
