In my previous employment (that I won’t divulge any further), I was basically on call 24/7 – not for 365 days a year, but a significant proportion of it, and after about 10 years I couldn’t cope with it and ultimately for the sake of my sanity and health, I had to give it up. I couldn’t switch off, constantly stressed and worrying, always checking my work phone, wasn’t sleeping, drinking too much, not painting or building soldiers so would love to know the answer to this as well!
