Draconis does….. The Silver Bayonet

I was gifted this mini by a generous friend, to use with my Silver Bayonet brits. He had the usual white over black prime.
Worked on the large areas first, the tunic and then the trousers.
Tunic was started with a dark red, given an agrax wash. Then re highlighted up through to evil sunz scarlet on the top edges.
The trousers were Dawnstone grey, washed with dawnstone/black mix, then highlighted back up. I may have gone a bit dark on these perhaps.
The waist band was painted up using my foundry Madder red paints, giving it a more pinky hue.
Then on to the more fiddly bits 😊 Collars and cuffs were painted in a dark Prussian blue, highlighted with Kantor blue mixed in, then up to a pale blue. Gold edging added to these. The sash, sword belt and gloves were painted grey then highlighted with white. Hat was rubber black, washed with nuln oil, then the gold picked out.
The eyes…. Yeah…. I really struggled with these for some reason. I tried them several times, but each time they just became crude splodges. In the end I just repainted the flesh and added a dark dash to represent the eyes. It’s a bit like he just has pits to the abyss for eyes…. But its better than what was there before. Disappointed that I couldn’t get these better, as I am happy with the jacket work etc. I may come back to them at a later date.
