About the Project

I've been collecting/accumulating miniatures for the weird WWI games. I started with A War Transformed and now the rulebook for Trench Crusade has arrived along with the first plastic set so here we go.

I’ve decided to start with the Feldkaplan miniature. The January Paintcomp is themed Saints and Sinners and this New Antioch religious warrior fits that theme very well. I have the two John Blanche paint sets from Army Painter. I’m pleasantly surprised at the paints they have picked. I wanted a purple for the monk’s habit that this model is wearing and there is a nice desaturated mauve that will be ideal. I started with a zenithed undercoat and then applied the straight acrylics in a thinned coat first to help keep the undertones. I’m not a big fan of the very heavy Grimdark look which is too dark or muddled for my tastes. I’ll therefore go for a finish that is a lot brighter and colourful as I like my minis to stand out on the table.
