Mantic Give You The 101 On The Walking Dead & Miniature Gaming
January 21, 2016 by brennon
Since The Walking Dead: All Out War might end up being quite the gateway game for folks interested in the comic books Mantic have supplied a pair of introductory looks at All Out War and miniatures gaming in general. You can read Part One and Part Two here...
They also showed off a new miniature from their character collection that will be available when the game launches. Here we have Carl looking like he means business with his pistol and rather large stetson.
Will you be introducing a non-gamer to The Walking Dead: All Out War?

His face is somewhat odd I think..but then again I suppose we all would have odd facial expressions in case of a zombie apocalypse.
Personally I’d prefer KD:M style multipart hard plastics but this won’t stop me from backing the KS, I’m too much of a WD fanboy..
I have absolutely no interest in this game whatsoever. Don’t really know why, perhaps I’m just bored to death the with the zombie game genre.
the hat rim looks a bit big I think.
As much as I have enjoyed The Walking Dead comics and TV series, I swore off any Mantic product after backing their Dungeon Saga Kickstarter.
The sculpt of Carl is very disappointing , I hope the other characters are a better effort as I was looking forward to this, now thinking its not going to be that promising.
@talos63 what was so bad about your experience if you don’t mind me asking.
My wife and I think that he looks like Tirion Lanister. Lol

@mage, the problems I had were mostly customer service related. When I pledged for the game, I wanted to go ‘all-in’ and get all the gameplay add ons, including the resin counters and such. The only items I didn’t want were the resin collectable figures. They way they had set up the extras, it was confusing as to how many you would need to give you a complete replacement set, and the expansions items also offered scenery that was duplicated as optional extras, with insufficient explanation of the contents.
When I contacted Mantic through Kickstarter (several times over a couple of weeks) no reply was forthcoming, so I contacted customer service on their website, hoping that my request for what to purchase to get that all-in level would be answered, or passed on to someone who could answer. The replies were blunt and unhelpful. When I finally received a reply via Kickstarter I was told that the Kickstarter was ‘a beast’ and items were suggested that I knew would not complete the order I wanted. This seemed to indicate that even Mantic was confused about their own Kickstarter…
They also charged for shipping through the pledge manager and later said that they would have to charge for shipping later and that we should just ‘buy more stuff’ with the money allocated for shipping already paid.
I asked again for clarification on the simple question I had asked, and got no response. I gave them plenty of time to respond. I finally asked for a refund as i just couldn’t get what I wanted. They complied with that after several more weeks, docking me 10% of my pledge to cover their Kickstarter costs.
TLDR: I asked one simple question that any informed Mantic employee should have been able to answer, and received no useful response. Then I was told to buy more stuff instead of holding my already paid funds for shipping and they would charge me again later for it.
I know they are making attempts to fix the customer service issues now, but at the time they were working with too few staff who knew too little about what was being offered. They were also running multiple Kickstarters at the same time, further worsening the already problematic customer service issue.
