Jomsviking Sighted & Date Set For Mythic Battles: Ragnarok
February 8, 2021 by brennon
Monolith has now shared the date for their Mythic Battles: Ragnarok Kickstarter and we also got a look at another unit option for those diving into the game, the Jomsviking.
Jomsviking Painted // Monolith
Acting as elite warriors in the game, the Jomsviking are a good defensive unit for you to introduce into the mix. They get access to Blocker and Guardian talents during play, making them a good option for those wanting to hold key areas of the tabletop. They are also fearsome individuals and when they die, they unleash one final attack against those who killed them.
The painted miniature above looks cool and you can see how a lot of the ideas from the artwork carried over into the render and the final product.

I'm not sure on the overall look of the Jomsviking though as the pose is a little too "bunched up" for my liking. I'm hoping that other miniatures in the set are posed differently swords in striking stances. Still, it's fun to get a good look at what else Monolith has been working on for this campaign.
Talking of the campaign, a date has been set. 23rd March 2021 will be the date to book in your diaries. Massive creatures like Jormungandr are on the way if this artwork is anything to go by!

I haven't touched Mythic Battles: Pantheon since it arrived I must admit and so whilst I am very much a Viking/Norse Mythology fan, I can't see myself picking this up as well. I'm sure for those who love the Mythic Battles series though, this will be something you've been saving up for for a while!
Are you patiently (or not so patiently) waiting for this Kickstarter to launch?

fabulous figures.
Fantastic figures, but it’s just been too long and Mythic Battles Pantheon is still mostly unpainted…I doubt I will back it now.

Wut! Was this the greatest most epic game ever reviewed by BoW? Joking aside, this is my most played game I own. Something the wife plays and something that is easy to teach to adults. Before COVID we had an adults only evening and on one table we had Mythic Battles: Pantheon and on another table Santorini. Amazingly it was was the women playing Mythic Battles: Pantheon thanks to support of my 16yr old daughter GMing the game. It then became known among my friends as “that greek game”
During the Pandemic it was standing game in our dinning room table until after many months we tired of the game (also did not help when the children returned home from college and the room became their study room for a certain time.)
I may not back just because the Mythic Battles: Ragnarok theme may not be enough. We would like to see something new added to the game play.
Must admit I’m not feeling it for the minis. This one looks like a bad re-enactor. Bit disappointed so far.
