Blogging At This Event:
Welcome To Salute!
Welcome to Salute 2017! We’re getting ready to dive into all of the action from today including talking to the vendors and exploring what awesome gaming tables are being put together by clubs and more.
Make sure to comment below to be in with the chance of winning a mega bundle of goodies and let us know who you’d like us to meet here at the event.
Demo Tables Setting Up
One of the things that we always love seeing at Salute are the awesome gaming tables that folks set up. This is one of them, the Old Guard, which has been set up since yesterday and is looking rather spiffing.
Hopefully, later in the day we'll chat about their table and what's going on with all these hexes!
Salute Setup Time-lapse
We got down to Salute yesterday and wanted to show off a bit of the hustle and bustle from the folks setting up. The hall is MASSIVE and the vendors are putting together some great looking booths and tables.
How many of you will be coming to Salute for the first time?
Tabletops To Look Out For!
We close in on some of the cool tabletops that we’re looking forward to checking out. There are some great set-ups from the guys at 4Ground but there’s much more too.
It will be cool to stop in and find out what’s popular here and…the doors will open soon enough letting forth the horde!
Overview Before The Chaos!
Justin makes a quick trip through the huge hall for Salute to get a brief overview of what’s to come today.
From just one aisle we can really see what today has in store for us already!
The Stage Is Set For The Painting Competition
The lights are up, judges are ready, and traders are starting to fill the cabinets with their entries.
Last year was a resounding success and this year will be no exception, as entrants and winners from Golden Demon, various Slayer Sword winners, Monte San Savino, Euromillitaire, The Fang, Hussar, and other esteemed contestants will be in attendance to compete as well as with the likes of you and me the average tabletop wargamer. (ps. I haven't entered)
It’s a serious business but also a bit of fun for anyone at Salute to enter. With this in mind they have introduced a couple of new things this year to push the competition to new heights.
There is a Best of Show Trophy which will be awarded to the winner and they also get to take away with a paid for flight and transfers to enter Chicago’s CoolMiniOrNot in 2017, for the Crystal Brush competition.
Gav Thorpe Runs Open Combat
Gav Thorpe is here running his game of Open Combat by Second Thunder today at Salute This is quite the awesome game packed with some cool cinematic action moments.
It would be cool to get a closer look at this game in the future since it really does work as a toy box for wargamers.
Fancy Playing Out The Battle Of Raphia?
It looks like if you fancy delving into the world of Ancient Wargaming there is a tabletop for you to get stuck into.
This one plays out The Battle Of Raphia and shows off some awesomeness as the two armies clash with big elephants and masses of ranked spearmen.
Catching Up With The Crowds
Justin stops in and starts talking with some of the attendees that are waiting in the line to get into Salute. The event is about to kick off!
We also bump into one of our community members to see how they're getting on with the show right now.
Make Sure To Check Out ArcWorlde
Warploque Miniatures are here (we'll be catching up with them soon) and in the mean time we thought we'd dive into the little demo table that they have set up here.
These chaps have some fantastic miniatures which look like they've come from the world of Fable and brought to life on the tabletop.
The Horde Approaches Time-lapse
And so they come to buy, game and more!
We'll be diving into the crowd and starting to get some interviews done shortly so keep an eye out for more very soon.
The Flood Gates Are Open On Painting Competition Entries
The rush is on, to get entries out of their carry cases and boxes, quick fixes and touch ups done before entering them into their categories.
And if all of the changes were not enough, they have also reintroducing third place awards this year, as sometimes the cut between finalist and second place is a painful judging decision and we have listened to our previous years feedback to amend this.
Judging criteria has also been reviewed and refined (and published), as always the team of 8 judges maintain an objective decision making process, and oversee the very subjective nature of an art competition across various scales and styles.
Pinhai! Battle For The 18th Green
Twisting things about a bit one of the gaming clubs has bought along this version of Bolt Action to play out on the tabletop which takes you to the 18th Green in Pinhai!
The Japanese and Chinese are clashing here on the tabletop and it looks great.
Gripping Beast Bring Swordpoint & SAGA To Salute
We stop in to find out what Gripping Beast are bringing to Salute 2017 with some demo games for Swordpoint and SAGA.
As well as that they're stepping in to show off their new Dark Age Plastics and even give away some of them PLUS the exclusive Gripping Beast dice as part of our competition.
Entries Close For The Painting Competition
Just a quick update before judging starts!

Bexley Reapers Jurassic Park
We step in with the Bexley Reapers who have been doing some fantastic Jurassic Park inspired gaming with a T-Rex chasing a jeep around the tabletop and velociraptors hunting down folks in the long grass.
This one looks like a lot of fun and it's all homebrew which is great!
Down In The Congo
We stop in at one of the tabletops which is running the game from Studio Tomahawk, CONGO.
This game sees your explorers heading out into the dark heart of Africa and running into Tribesmen and more.
The game seems to feature some nifty mechanics so it would be cool to know whether you folks have checked this one out in the past?
Talking AFTERLIFE With Anvil Industry
We sit down to chat with Anvil Industry about what's happening with AFTERLIFE. They've got a rather cool looking vehicle set up and are selling a fair bit of their range too.
Have you been won over by the Anvil range?

Of course, they were generous enough to offer up some goodies too allowing you to get started in the game.
Infinity Games Underway
We sent Dave out to find out what else is going on around the gaming tables and it turns out that as well as all of the goodness that we've seen Historically there's also some folks playing Infinity on this nice and colourful tabletop.
We think it's neat to see this game here, in a bit of a drop-in-drop-out format on the tabletop. It certainly works for character focused gameplay.
Steamforged Talk Dark Souls & Guild Ball On The Tabletop
We stop in with the folks from Steamforged Games to find out more about the world of Dark Souls on the tabletop as the board game continues to blow up with folks.
Also, Guild Ball goes from strength to strength and that means that we also have loads of epicness to give away as part of our prize bundle!
Judges Judge....
This year has been a step change on the last two, more finalists pulled out than ever, and judging is taking forever, looking for the smallest of differences in each entry to decide which deserve the ultimate accolade.
Here is a quick shot of all the category finalists, with a couple of closer looks. More to come from the winners soon...

Learning About What’s Ahead From Deep Cut Studio!

We love the Deep Cut Studio mats which allow you to get a gaming table together rather quickly indeed.
Rogue One Replayed On The Tabletop

Check out the awesome new feature mini, or biggie from Heresy, the Madame.
Salute 2017: It's a Wrap
As Salute ends *cries*
We take some time out of our busy schedule to have a little talk with Mac of South London's Warlords Gaming Club to see how everything went.
We would like to thank the entire crew that made this happen, Salute would not be possible without the Warlords and we truly had a lot of fun and many happy memories made.
Remember to keep your comments coming in, we're just as blown away by the mega bundle as you are!

On my way 🙂
Guess the hangovers ain’t to bad if you got posts up this early 😉
How did @lancorz find flying lol?
All good, didn’t like it banking side to side… or the two attempts at landing.
Lol
Just imagine you’re in a rollercoaster 😉
Besides …
any landing you can walk away from is a good one 😀
Better two attempts than one complete and utter failure.
Okay… let the coverag beginn ^^
Salute 2018 in Rotterdam please :p
Utrecht would be much better … but failing that Eindhoven isn’t bad either. 😉
Utrecht would indeed be better
On my way now 🙂
Have fun guys. Wish I was there.
So I’m placing this comment with false hope that for first time in life I’ll actually win something in a lottery. Feel free to prove me that aint gonna happend.
Wish I was there but had to choose between Salute and UKGE.
Love that Frostgrave table. Looking forward to the coverage. Always so much to see so I’ll be interested to see what cool stuff you find that we haven’t seen before.
Have fun guys
I sadly can’t make it, but I wish you loads of fun and I’m looking forward to all your great pictures and videos.
Wish I could make it this year; the stars haven’t aligned correctly for a few years now, but I will be back at some point as it is a blast! Have a great day everyone!
Sweet, have a great day guys!
That’s Lloyd talk for ‘take more pictures now Dave!’
Thanks for the coverage!
What a super weekend is lined up. One day I shall attend!
One day I’ll take a trip down to Salute. It’ll happen…
Waiting for my nephew(8) to take him to his very first experience of salute after getting interested in warhammer a couple of months ago
Is this a bit like the British version of Adepticon?
Kinda of but much different. Think of the vendor area at Adepticon but 10 times bigger. Throw in full size demo tables in between in the aisles. That is Salute, no tournaments or big games. Mostly sales. It is an amazing experience and we really enjoy it. We are really sad we are not this year. It is worth the trip from the States. The Backstage meet up is always a great time. I highly recommend it to anyone.
I hope i wish be there with you next year
Wish I was going today 🙁
Wish I was going – would like someone to go to black scorpion to see if they have any more info about the tombstone kickstarter
Wish I was going, probably could have if I hadn’t spent so much ‘socialising’ this month.
Damn, ain’t been to salute in 5 years, wish I was there
Wish you were too dude
At salute, Justin I’m coming for my hug. Warren, missing you mate :p
Breakfast done so on my way . All the shiny stuff here is come hahaha
Let the coverage begin. Have a great time guys for us that can’t make it

Wish I could be there too but thanks for the coverage, great work as always guys!

Looking forward to some nice coverage on my birthday 🙂

Well been round once, brought stuff, then took it back to hotel for round two, still have not found the Rogue One game!
Top coverage guys. All the 4ground stuff looks amazing!!!!!
I really will have to go to the UK for Salute next year!!!
Just back from Salute with the young lad, he had a great time, and managed to come back with two bags brimming with swag. It felt slightly less full on than last year, it felt like there wasn’t quite as much there, but what there was was epic!
I can’t get enough of all that sweet terrain!
I sooooo wish I had been able to attend Salute!
Maybe next year…

so many prizes wow!
Thanks guys for covering this show it looks fantastic. Keep up the good work.
Didn’t make it for my maiden visit this year, but will aim to be there next year. Cheers for the great coverage though, it’s great to get access to these types of events as and when they occur rather then reports posts that only crop up days and weeks later after the excitement has faded (though they still have their place too for the in-depth details & impressions).
Very cool impressions. Unfortunately it’seems way to much away for me.
You jammie buggers.
Looking at all those shiny toys… I really have to attend it someday. Have fun everyone who can
Well, since i’m starting to watch the vids, by now the show is probably over so, i trust you guys had a great day!

Signed your old self that is less old than you are now (in your own face, which is also technically mine…. crap)
Bring me the hobby goodness!
Looked like a great show, shame I couldn’t go.
Awesome coverage for another year of this event. Much to consume! I really need to find similar events here in Oz… don’t think that there are many like it.

What a prize haul… I really enjoyed salute this year. I manages to pick up everything i wanted and caught up with so many people. Next up UKGE
I’m going to sit and watch all of this after I watch the hockey playoff games. It looks just from looking at the posts that it was once again a very successful Salute.
Once again thanks for all the work guys. It’s amazing just how much you managed to get seen. If that’s a barebones crew you took no one would be able to tell.
Here we go, best show of the year.

Amazing show! Those tables are very inspiring.
I wish we saw such awesome shows as this here in Australia!
A great way to unwind after a 15 hour work day is to watch every single video that I missed today! Time to watch my money flow down the drain! Bring on the plastic, resin and metal goodness!
Really enjoying the videos. I’m super excited for those British paratroopers! Can’t wait for their release. The new cavalry look cool as well. Any chance you guys could do some Black Powder? I would be real interested in a well produced video of a game or two of it!
Thanks for the coverage. Maybe someday we get stuff like salute here in the finland too.
Great coverage as always Guys! Thanks for taking us to the show
Yeah yeah baby
Can’t wait to behold all these wonderful tables! And heres to winning a bundle!
Wow that is exciting, that mega prize is going to be awesome, whoever wins that is scoring big time.
Great blogs and pics. Thanks.
Great job guys. I have to be honest and say I miss the old salutes in 4 parts with Warren walking around all the vendors but to fit as much in with such a small team is no small feat. Thanks for all the footage.
holy cow! there loads of comments on this blog now! amazing!
went there and saw lance and justin doing their thing, decided not to photobomb them though
hope everyone got what they wanted! i know the walking dead lee and clementine sold out fast!
All the shiny! It’s probably a good thing that I couldn’t make it this year – my credit card would have suffered…
Awesome content covering the show. Great for people like me who Couldn’t make it. Thanks
maybe next year im live in London, maybe…
Had fantastic time. Met lots of amazing people, feet have now fallen off. Going back next year.
Great day, great coverage. Well done guys
I don’t believe any of this. I was wandering around the single hall for the best part of 6 hours and didn’t see you guys once! I had my anti-bacterial wipes ready to prep Justin’s head for a licking and everything…
Thanks for all the great coverage BoW. Now I just need to win the prize to make up for the missing up out on the event exclusive mini in my goody bag 😉
Awesome coverage as always, Thanks guys.
Thank you guys for this live blog (again)! 😉
I wanna attend next year!!!
Thanks a lot for the awesome coverage. I hope i can make it to the show next year.
Missed Salute due to watching an atrocious game of football. Catching up now, and oh my are my eyes a-goggling at that pile-o-prizes!
So there I was, traipsing round Salute for about five hours (I have no idea how I spent that long there)- and not once did I see the BoW crew! Did you have classes in Ninja stealth before you started filming?
Give me a year or two and I’ll be there 🙂
Amazing coverage and fantastic for those of us on the other side of the world. With the amount of cool stuff there, I’m surprised they don’t have shopping trolleys!
Thanks again for the coverage.
Ps: if I win the mega bundle I will pay shipping to Australia!
no Mantic catchup?
They are in this week’s weekender 🙂
I was surprised Warlord didn’t talk about Test of Honour. Did you guys get around to have a look at Rumbleslam the wrestling game. I didn’t see it in any of the videos?
So much stuff cramed into 1 day! A day of complete awesomeness
Really great coverage! Greetings from germany
A good afternoon guys. Just got the chance to watch the show and WOW one of these years I am going to have to go and not have to work weekends. Some amazing stuff coming, love all the scenery from the different companies and especially those DARKOPs ships, great for prirate games, American civil war and of course using the same said civil war ships for steampunk games like Wolfsung. Well got to go, here is my taxi, have an enjoyable Sunday and will tune in tomorrow for anything new and can imagine 40k 8th edition may be the hot topic for the moment.
Still find it hard to believe it is all one day. Thanks for the great coverage.
OMG what a show I wish I was at the show, but my bank balance is better, that I was not at the show.
Great day once again, still recovering from all the excitement, catching up on what the Beasts were up to.
Would have loved to be there. Looks like it’s getting bigger every year. I say this every year: but next year I need to be there.
I think the terrain you can buy these days is absolutely awesome. Hopefully this trend carries on. Future tables will be sooo beautiful.
An all round brilliant day. I dragged my father along, and it reignited his child hood. He purchased Wings of Glory WW1 and has been playing it non stop since
He has however ordered me to repaint one plane so that it matches his business
Great looking event! Thanks for the Vids 🙂
Great coverage. So gutted I couldn’t go this year.
Great coverage guys.
whaaaattttt? I wanted so much more! Good job though guys!
One of these years I will time a trip to England around this… one of these years!
This would be part of a dream vacation.
Great coverage. Hopefully One day i’ll be able to go one year.
Good Morning Gentlemen. Just finished watching the the Salute coverage. Excellent interviews as always. I would have watched live, but our Game Club was finally having our big Easter Game. We try and have a very large group game for every holiday. This holidays big monster in Mordheim was “The Sharp Pointy Teeth”, a very deadly white bunny rabbit that makes a young dragon look like a Iguana…lol. Well guys, off to watch the XLBS. Have a great day!
Almost like being there. Thanks for the coverage. Some really nice tables.
Was a great day. As the dust settles and my legs finally get some feeling back into them (i had to be linesman at my sons football match earlier as well!) I’m ready to peruse my purchases
Thanks for all the pod casts. Shame i missed it this year. Lots of new stuff gone on my shopping list
a great live blog. so much shiny 😀
I love the possibilities to auto play all videos when trying to catch up with the neglected hobby time. Especially when real life has taken most of the weekend. Was at Salute a couple of years ago, which was fantastic experience, even though both of my ear drums collapsed on my way there (allegies and airplanes are not allways a good mix).
By the way – Great show guys!
All of this stuff looks so cool! I wish that I could get to a show like this.
Looks like an amazing weekend. Great coverage as always by the BoW crew.
Thank you for posting the interviews and pics!
Watched Sats weekender when got home after. Salute today and now understand Justin’s slightly panicked look when said hello. Had no plans to lick his head. O just thought. he thought I was a bit weird.
So much great stuff here. The Rogue One battle looked neat and really easy to do.
Me and my mates were running wild west exodus participation games. Had a great and busy day, everyone who played seemed to love the game as well. Sent dozens of people over to wayland to grab the free rulebook. Plenty came back with starter sets later in the day 🙂
Great coverage guys! Don’t think you missed a step in the event. It would be awesome to take the coverage and make a special long form video out of it.
So much cool stuff, I hope to make it there one of these years. That prize pool is amazing OMG!
Would be so good to go these big gamecons.
thanks for showing us a peek into salute
Thanks for the coverage guys, looked like a great day out!
Sad to have missed it again 🙁 Looks like a great show!
Amazing, hope I will get there some time
Sometimes I wish I lived in the UK. Fortunately You guys did a great coverage again. Thank You!
Looks like I’ve got a good evening of watching ahead of me.
Very disappointed I couldn’t keep up live on Saturday, but hey ho.
Must try and get a long to a show, the only thing I’ve ever been to is GW Games Days and last time I wen’t must have been over 10 years ago.
Nice to see the Reapers get the awards their hard work deserved and the coverage was spot on.
Also enjoyed the Arcworlde interview. Roll on next year!
Top notch coverage of Salute once again lads. I stumbled acoss your Salute 2014 vlog as my first intro to Beasts of War and since then I have been hooked, even tho I am 12,000 kms away in New Zealand it’s the closest I’ll get to being there
Great. Overage of Salut. Wish I could have been there, too.
It was another fantastic show put on by the SLW, and already looking forward to next years. My son also enjoyed it and I was trying to get him to photo bomb Justin while he was interviewing Hawk wargames by their big space ship.
looks like an amazing week
Love all the vlogging. nice work guys.
Wow
One day I’ll take a trip down to Salute. It’ll happen…
Thanks for another great show boys. This event is definitely on the bucket list. It looks amazing every year.
great coverage well done.
Great to see this thread reach over 4000 comments
Awesome day and great coverage
Wow, I’m so jealous of the people who went, I’m not even half way through the coverage and it looked amazing.
Got home from UK late last night. Reliving Salute again with these videos 😀
Looks like a great weekend. I would love to be able to attend one of shows sometime.
Great fun and games.
What a great day. I think Lance’s Nature Documentary technique was my favorite. I really must get to England for this convention one day.
Such an epic prize pool looks brilliant
Thank you in advance for all the efforts of all involved in producing the coverage – I just need a free day to go through it all properly now!
Fun running into the team – if only briefly. Actually bumped into quite a few people. Had a really good day.
Awesome coverage
Great Coverage as always guys, thanks.
Awesome Year at Salute. Great to see BoW (:
This was cool!
Finally got through all the content. Great coverage guys. It’s a pleasure, although I didn’t see anyone lick justin, or did I just miss it? No one brave enough ay?
The X-Wing game over Scarif was a fantastic idea. That’s definitely an idea to steal…I mean borrow.
This was fun!
Salutes was awesome this year. Great to see TTcombat and Warcradle really come to the party this year, gives me a lot of faith in the quality if their releases!
This was a great show!
So wish I could make it to an event like this… some day.
Salute was great fun, cannot wait until next years’ event.
Great looking tables. Fabled realms game looks very good. Wish I could be there.
I would spend my last pound if I’d attend the event, and probably worked up a considerable bank credit as well. Looks like an amazing event this year. Thanks for the great coverage everyone!
Wonderful cover of Salute guys !
Will you be doing a Bushido week ever ?
My resolution for 2018 is to make sure I go to Salute. It looks like it was bloody great fun!
You missed Spartan games. 🙁
Did they have Flyers out for Halo Ground Command yet???
I always love the time lapse video!
Finally able to catch up with all this… I was there on the day (it was great!) but evidently still missed loads!
This was a great event!
Salute rox!
Had such a great time… Wish it was every week-end…
epic event, loved it and looking forward to next year.
best of luck to everyone on the competition 😀
Got round to watching, My god what a prize bundle, that’s enough stuff to keep you busy for the next couple of years…
Still sorting the pictures I took…
What a great day!!!
I love this report!
Great coverage as always. Still catching up but all those pirate themed tables look amazing.
This looks awesome!
Did the prize every get mentioned, I keep looking to find out but cannot see the results?
