Salute 2024 Live Blog!

The collaboration of a whole host of talent under the direction of the Mayor of Gradara has culminated in the Siege of Gradara. A monumentally epic construction from Oshiro Models that subdivides into multiple gaming tables, with a set of siege rules by Masterstroke Games and Edinburgh Universities History and Games Lab professor Gianluca to bring a scenario that follows the history and archaeological evidence of the siege!

Ben chats with MS_Paints about their first ever Salute and what they thought of the day. They have had a fun time even it if has been a bit full on but spent plenty of time enjoying the GCT Studios stand and Bushido. It’s great to see lots of creators coming down and having fun!

Gerry takes the opportunity to talk with Mike, the designer of Warlord Games brand new 28mm tank battle game to find out the core mechanics and how the game plays out on the table top, in what he describes as dog-fighting with tanks! Intrigued? We certainly are.

We chat with Jason from GCT Studios at Salute 2024 about Bushido and their awesome range of miniatures. They have been showing off a whole bunch of excellent new miniatures for their 35mm Fantasy game. Jason also talks about why you should check out the game and try out the rules for yourself.

Annie shows Ben the glory of the Bad Squiddo range to Ben and shows that it has grown far beyond the range of realistic women into something far greater, including the vampire guinea pigs, ever expanding ghoul family, and a ton of resin terrain. Annie also extolls the virtues of running the community vote for new historical miniatures.

Ben and Gerry take you on a guided tour of Salute 2024 starting from the entrance and walking all the way through to the other side. We show off the mix of different traders and participation games that you can take part in alongside the likes of the painting competition, the Hobby Heroes area and much more. Whatever you’re into when it comes to wargaming, there is something for you here at Salute! It is always packed and full of people finding old games and new to play!

Colin from Warlord Games takes the time to to show Gerry that good things do come in small packages with the upcoming epic miniatures for refighting the Punic Wars with Hail Caesar, including the innovative new way the plastics units come together for ranks.

Justin stops by the Wayland Games stand to catch up with Chris from Warcradle Studios and talk about their plans for the year including a sneak peak at two of the awesome new resins for the upcoming Armoured Clash game and he even hints at fliers in the future to boot!

We stop off to have a chat with Sally 4th about their excellent Wars Of Ozz tabletop which you will have seen in some of the gallery images earlier. We dive a bit in depth at the rules and what’s being shown off here at Salute 2024.

Get a look at what Loke has been showing off here at the show. There are some superb bits and pieces here that are great for those wanting to do roleplaying games with an extra layer of awesomeness. Get your Battle Mat Books and set up some great encounters for D&D and beyond.

We stop off with Mac from Fyndoria Games to talk about their sojourn into the wasteland with The Last Drifters. If you’re excited to dive into some post-apocalyptic racing on the tabletop then this is one to check out. It has some ace mechanics and you can enjoy a bit of fun hobby too when building your cars.

The Veterans Wargames Association has put together a fun game with the aid of Great Escape Games and their Dead Man’s Hand range. Here, Ben dives into a game of The Quick & The Dead where we play out a fun and quick card-based game. It seems like the favour might be with Ben though as he avoids all those incoming shots!

Graham from Grey For Now Games talks to us about the amazing new terrain for Guards Of Traitor’s Toll coming from Sarissa Precision for this new game. This is the first time that this terrain has been seen here at Salute 2024! It looks ace AND the miniatures from Wargames Atlantic.

If you’re into your Vietnam War and your wargaming this period then you will have no doubt enjoyed seeing the appearance of the miniatures range from Rubicon Models. Here, we have a showing of their table for Oscar Mike Vietnam where some US soldiers are most likely getting ambushed!

We couldn’t miss out on some Viking action and so we had a look at this amazing Dark Age table showing a raid on London. The settlers are looking suitably safe in their houses but it seems like events might go a little badly for everyone involved once the ships start moving down the river!

I managed to go and check out this absolutely stunning tabletop of terrain from Goblin King Games for use with Moonstone. As you might have guessed by their miniatures range, the terrain is brilliant.

Thanks to the sterling effort of the South London Warlord’s volunteers, they’ve managed to clear the queue before closing to entries at 12 noon.

Diving into a fun bit of mayhem with a Ozz-like twist, Sally 4th have put together a great game which uses the Wars Of Ozz rules and some of those stunning miniatures inspired by L.Franks Baums Wizard of Ozz. This is a participation game which showcases four of the different factions which all have their unique twist and spin to them.

This one comes from the folks at the Cornwall Wargames Association who have put on a stunning Never Mind The Boathooks game which is packed with stunning ships and all manner of angry men in armour ready to do battle. Following the plundering of Brittany throughout the 100 Years’ war, the French set out for revenge on the Cornish Pirates. Facing them are Elizabeth Treffry and The Gallants of Fowey!

A rather sterling (and massive) set-up for The Relief Of Norchester. This uses the For King & Parliament from Cavalier Books and Wargames Foundry and showcases a big clash between the Royalists and the Parliamentarians around Norchester which is heavily besieged. There are some great little moments in this game that will be fun to see play out over the day.
